CHAPTER 119

"Rajkumari ki Jai ho ! Rajkumari ki Jai ho !" The residents of Shravasti hailed as they saw Rameshwari over her black horse Vajra, riding through the lanes.

The soldiers had encircled her while her handmaidens followed behind. Rameshwari smiled seeing the people, who cheered for her.

Whenever the residents would get the news that the princess will come, they'd welcome her in such a way as if celebrating a festival.

The people of Shravasti, adored Ayodhya-Kumari, for she had developed their city so much that it could now rival the grandeur of Ayodhya. Several traders from distant lands would often get confused as to which city is the capital of Kosal.

The well-paved roads were covered with flowers for her welcome, people were coming out of their multistorey gem-studded mansions.

Some were standing with sacramental plate and did her aarti as she went by while others held flower and rice in their hands and showered it over her. Some even knelt down and touched her shadow with reverence.

The lanes were extremely crowded with people, the soldiers made way for the princess to ride through. Some residents had gathered in their balconies and terraces to catch a glance of Rameshwari.

The grandeur and splendor emitted from her had no comparison. A small smile adorned her lips as she waved her hand at the people, and rode past them.

It took hours amidst the crowd, for her to reach the palace complex, which was her residency at Shravasti, where some Brahmans had also gathered.

Although she was tired and needed rest, Rameshwari presented herself in the service of those Brahmans, welcomed them with proper accordances inside the bhavan and talked with them in a happy frame of mind.

"Suna hai humne, ki aap Rajtantra par granth likh rahi hai ?" One of them asked.

"Ji Brahman-devta." Rameshwari said.

"Ati-uttam. Yeh granth Kosal ke aane wale Rajao ka maarg-darshan karega." Another Brahman said.

"Keval Kosal ka hi nahi Brahmandev, iss granth ki rachna maine Bharatvarsh ke sabhi Rajao ke liye kiya hai. Jisse unka Rajya Surajya ban sake." Rameshwari said.

"Kya hum dekh sakte hai ki aapne abhi tak kya kya likha hai ?" One Brahman asked.

"Awashya." Rameshwari said and then gestured Ulka to present the papers that were written till now. The Ram-suta had brought them with her to write more verses in her free time.

The Brahmans looked through the pages critically, the handwriting of Ulka was praiseworthy and even more praise worthy were verses dictated by Rameshwari.

She had included everything from the importance of a king, duties of a king, behaviour of a king, the cares to be taken by him in regards to dealing with various types of citizens and how should he maintain several relations bound to him.

She had even included the importance of mininsters, ways to appoint them, ways to test them, the duties which they should discharge and their behaviour.

The text also included a well planned system of taxation, how to raise taxes without burdening the citizens, how to increase the Rajkosh constructively, how to plan annual budget, how the state should spend the money of taxes and how it should not.

It even had the ways to develop a kingdom, ways to develop trade, agriculture and animal husbandry, ways that lead to prosperity and satisfaction of the four varnas, and also warning regarding the ways that lead to the misery of the above mentioned subjects.

The Brahmans wondered if the incomplete text is so great then how great would it be once it's completed.

"Rajkumari, Rajao aur Rajtantra se jude vyaktiyo ke liye toh yeh granth amrit samaan hoga." One Brahman said.

"Hey Ram-Suta, hume vishwas hai ki jo bhi Raja iss granth ka adhyayan man laga ke karega, woh Awashya Samrat banega." Another Brahman said.
