CHAPTER 11

It was past midnight, the people of Ayodhya had long gone to sleep. But the king of the kingdom was awake trying to make the princess fall asleep.

Devi Sita was initially going to make her go into slumber, but seeing his wife tired after the long day Shri Ram asked to rest and offered to take care of his daughter.

One could say that it had been a mistake as he groggily walked back and forth in the room with his daughter in his arms, cradling her.

"Kab tak jagogi meri gudiya ?" He asked looking at her big eyes, she giggled and the response was clear she wasn't going to sleep anytime soon.

"Nidra devi ne Pitashree ke netro par aakraman kar diya hai putri.... Pitashree parajit ho rahe hai.... Kintu tum parajit nahi huyi..." He said with a yawn, causing her to giggle even more.

Shri Ram sighed, and then an idea came to him, which can make her fall asleep.

"Tum yadi hati ho toh tumhare Pitashree bhi hati hai. Abhi kshan bhar mei Sula dunga." He said

Shri Ram then walked out of his bed room and went straight to the sangeet-kaksh, the music room, in his bhavan. The Ram-suta looked at the room filled with all types of musical instruments one can think of with big curious eyes.

Shri Ram went towards the veena and sat down in front of it. He kept his daughter on his lap and placed the veena on his shoulder.

With one hand he played the veena while with other he patted her head to make her fall asleep. A melody so sweet that it had put even Mahadev in a trance.

The entire cosmos seemed to have halted just to listen to the tune played by Shri Ram to make his daughter sleep. Not even the king of Gandharvas could play the veena with such excellence as this king of Ayodhya played.

And along with enchanted the 14 Lokas, the melody was having its desired impact on the Ram-Suta. Her eyes got droopy and soon she fell asleep.

Seeing her in deep slumber Shri Ram smiled as he stopped playing the veena and put it aside, bowing to it. He carefully picked his daughter in his arms and just as he stood up and turned he saw Devi Sita leaning on the edge of door.

"Sitey, kya meri veena bajane se tumhari nidra tut gayi ?" He asked in a whisper.

"Dhanya huyi mai jo meri nidra tut gayi. Anyatha jis dhun ka anand samast sansaar le raha tha, uske anand se mai hi vanchit reh jaati." She said softly.

He smiled and both of them headed back to their bedroom. There Shri Ram gently placed his dear daughter on the cradle, swinging it a little.

Devi Sita admired them both, especially Shri Ram who had a blissful smile on his face. Something about his face told her that he had a thought in his mind.

"Kis soch mei hai Nath ?" She asked.

"Yahi ki meri putri vastavikta mei gudiya jaisi hi lagti hai." He said.

"Lagegi kyu nahi ? Aapke jaise hi toh dikhti hai. Pata hai Nath, jab maine aapko pehli baar vivah mandap par dekha tha tab mujhe bhi vishwas nahi huya ki ek manushya ke paas itna saundarya ho sakta hai." Devi Sita said making him smile even more.

"Vichaar toh mere bhi aise hi the tumhe dekh ke." He said causing her to blush.
