Hanuman had been sitting quiet the entire while the discussion was going on.

"Hanuman, tum kyu chup baithe ho ? Tum toh veerta mei Sugreev ke bhaati, aur buddhi mei Ram aur Lakshman ke bhaati ho. Tumhare bal, buddhi aur charitra ki shakti hum sabse adhik hai. Yeh karya tum kyu nahi karte ?" Jambuvant asked.

But Hanuman looked unsure, he didn't know if he could cross 100 yojanas and return back.

"Tumhe apne samarthya ke baare mei gyaath nahi. Chalo tumhe tumhare baalpan ki ek kahani sunata hu. Jab tum ek balak the toh Surya ko fal samajh ke usko khaane hetu tumhe 300 yojan dur tak chhalang laga li. Hum sab toh dar gaye the. Kintu fir pahad ki choti par gir ke tumne apni hanu tod di. Iss liye tumhara naam Hanuman pada. Bal, shakti aur gati mei tum apne Pita Vayu ke samaan ho. Iss liye utho ! Chhalaang maro Lanka tak aur paar kar jaao yeh samudra ko ! Kya tum nahi dekh rahe ki Vanar kitne niraash ho chuke hai ? Yeh karya sidh karo Pawanputra !" Jambuvant said.

His words left a deep impact on Hanuman, who had now seemed to have gotten a new life and a new vision to live it. Indeed, sometimes all one needs is a mentor who can remind him of his dormant potential and jolt him to action.

With the realisation of his strengths came their physical manifestations. Hanuman began to stretch and expand his body. He became gigantic, as the Vanars looked at him amazed.

Hanuman went into a state of trance and then looked at the Vanars who were watching the miracle unfold.

"Vayu ki shakti anant hai aur gati bhi. Woh apne bal se parvato ke tukde kar sakte hai aur bade bade pedo ko ukhaad sakte hai. Mai usi Vayudev ka putra hu. Mai lambi chhalaang maar sakta hu aur udd bhi sakta hu. Chhalaang maar ke mai sampoorn prithvi ko samudra ke jal se snaar karwayunga. Apne jangha aur pindliyo ke shakti se samudra mei reh rahe sabhi magarmacch dhara par feka jayenge." Hanuman said.

His assertions energized the entire Vanar contingent.

"Yashashvi bhava Hanuman !" Jambuvant blessed.

"Tum awashya safal hoge Hanuman !" The rest of the Vanars cheered.

And then Vayuputra Hanuman took a leap across the ocean. But the journey wasn't going to be smooth at all. Just a few yojanas across the yojan Hanuman, Naagmata Surasa came disguised as a Asuri came to test his grit and wit, on the request of devtas.

"Yeh mera pratibandhit kshetra hai, tune yaha aane ki bhul ki hai." She said.

"Kshama kare, kintu mujhe ek atyant mahatvpurn karya hetu jana hai. Vilambh nahi kar sakta. Kripya mera maarg chhode." Hanuman said.

"Tu nahi jaa sakta ! Yeh devnyukt hai ki jo bhi iss maarg se jayega use mere mukh mei pravesh karna hoga. Tumhare paas koi anya vikalp nahi hai." Surasa said.

Hanuman raised his brow and then expanded his body even more causing Surasa to open her mouth even wide. He then quickly shrank in size, entered her mouth and came out before she could close it.

"Naag Mata, mai aapke mukh mei  chuka hu. Aapka mantavya purn huya. Ab mujhe jaane de." He said.

Hanuman had outwitted the gods and Surasa was pleased. She let him go ahead.

He leaped once more but this time he got pulled into the mouth of a vortex. This wasn't as benign as the previous encounter with Surasa. Sugreev had warned him of this phenomenon in the southern ocean.

But Hanuman was undaunted. He was full of his newfound energy and determined to get to Lanka. He exploded the vortex with his momentum, and forced his way out.

While there were several more challenges, there was also help that came unexpectedly. A huge mountain called Mainak emerged out of the ocean to offer Hanuman to take some rest on its peak.

But Vayuputra was grateful for Mainak's thoughtful gesture but politely declined to take a break as he could not afford to lose any more time.

And finally Hanuman reached the shores of Lanka, the golden city of Rakshasas.
