A plan was hatched to get Vali to come out and fight. Sugreev was to challenge him and engage him in a dual while Shri Ram would kill Vali while hiding behind the trees in the jungle.

And as per plan Sugreev went to the gates of Kishkindha and called for Vali to come out and fight him. Hearing his voice, the reckless and short-tempered Vali was red with rage.

He rushed out screaming for Sugreev's blood and deadly duel began between the brothers. Shri Ram watched the fight from behind the trees in the forest and both Vali and Sugreev appeared the same to him.

The brothers had the same build and similar features. Shri Ram was confused and didn't want to shoot till he was sure his arrow would not kill Sugreev. A mistake would lead to disaster.

As Shri Ram was trying to identify and kill Vali, Sugreev was so injured that he ran away to save him life sensing there was no help was going come.

Mauled and injured he came to Rishyamukh where Shri Ram was waiting for him.

"Yadi meri sahayata karne ki iccha thi hi nahi toh Vali se dwand hetu mujhe kyu uksaya ?" Sugreev groaned in agony.

"Dukhi na ho mitra. Tum aur Vali ek jaise dikhte ho aur tumhare rang-dhang bhi ek jaise hai, mai bhed nahi kar paya iss liye maine baan nahi chalaya. Yadi bhul se tumhe mera baan lag jata toh anarth hota. Kintu chintit na ho, iss baar wahi hoga jo tumhe sukh de." Shri Ram said.

Shri Ram then asked Lakshman to give him a garland made of Gaja Pushpa, a type of creeper so Sugreev would be identifiable during the fight.

In the early hours of the morning, Sugreev again went to Kiskindha to challenge Vali, who got out ot bed, full of wrath to crush Sugreev under his feet.

But his wife, the wise lady Tara was suspicious that yesterday Sugreev got mauled by Vali and again he came to challenge him. It didn't sit right with her because she knew unlike Vali, Sugreev wasn't so reckless.

"Aryaputra, jo krodh aapke paas aise ata hai jaise nadi ki dhara, use swayam ka niyantran na khoyiye. Itne savere dwand karna mujhe uchit nahi lag raha. Aap hi sochiye ki kal hi aapse praan bacha ke Sugreev bhaage the, aur aaj punah aapse dwand karne aagaye. Jis sahas ke saath woh aapko chunauti de rahe hai, mujhe sahi nahi lag raha. Sugreev ko awashya kisi shaktishaali vyakti ka saath Mila hai. Aur bina unki Shakti parkhe Sugreev unse sahayata nahi lega." Tara said.

"Kya antar padta hai ? Mai uss sugreev ko abhi kuchal dunga !" Vali said.

"Nahi Aryaputra ! Anatar padta hai. Putra Angad ne suchna di thi ki Sugreev ko Ayodhya ke Rajkumar, Dashrath Nandan Ram aur Lakshman ke saath dekha gaya hai. Woh dono aparajit yoddha hai. Unse shatruta karna samajhdaari nahi hogi. Kripiya Sugreev ko kshama kar unhe Yuvraj bana de aur unn dono Rajkumaro se maitri karle. Waise bhi Sugreev aapke Bhai hai, apne hi chhote bhai ke rakt hetu pyasa hona uchit nahi. Mai aapse prem karti hu, aur aapki aur Kiskindha ki chinta bhi, iss liye yeh keh rahi hu." Tara advised.

"Mai dwand ka awahan nahi taal sakta Tara visheshkar jab toh Shatru ne diya hai. Aaj mai Sugreev se yudh kar use uchit paath padhayunga ! Aur Ayodhya Kumar Ram mujhe haani kyu pahuchayenge ? Humari toh koi shatruta nahi. Kintu tum nishchint raho. Mai Sugreev ke ahankaar ka naash karunga kintu uska vadh nahi." Vali said and went outside much to Tara's dismay.
