CHAPTER 10

Dashrath and his wives performed the Gou-daan and Til-daan along with the rest of the rituals. And then finally came the day of Uttar Phalguni, where the marriage ceremony was going to take place.

Even gods and goddesses from the above were eagerly waiting for the procession to start. Amarsri and Srinav on the other hand were very much present in ceremony, standing aside from all in the corners, even a glimpse of Sita Ram would be enough to please their hearts.

"Woh dekhiye, chaaro varo ka aagman huya." Srinav said.

The four grooms entered the podium decked with all kinds of jewellery appropriate for this auspicious hour. They all have performed the auspicious ceremony for marriage-thread, conducted prior to the wedding and all have thread-bands tied around their wrists.

They took their respective seats in front of the fire altars, Brahmarishi Vasisth started reciting the Vedic Mantras to start the marriage ceremony.

"Dev, woh rahi Devi Sita apni beheno ke saath." Amarsri said.

The four brides came to the podium, everyone was in awe seeing them, especially the three queens of Dashrath. The resplendent faces of the brides were enough to show their piousness. Especially that of Sita, who with her sisters looked like Devi Lakshmi in a pond of Lotuses.

Janak held his eldest and most cherished daughter, and brought her in front of Shri Ram. Devi Sita looked at his lotus like soft face and then lowered her eyes on his lotus like soft feet. A small smile found its way on her lips.

"इयं सीता मम सुता सहधर्मचरी तव ||
प्रतीच्छ चैनां भद्रं ते पाणिं गृह्णीष्व पाणिना |" Janak said. (This daughter of mine, Sita will be your partner in Dharma. Receive her and hold her hand with yours.)

Shri Ram looked at Sita, and it would be a lie if one says he wasn't awestruck even in slightest. He kept staring at her face the way Chakor bird stares at the moon. Indeed there was no woman on earth who could match her resplendence, radiance and opulences.

"Meri putri Janki aapki vadhu hai. Aur iski behene Mandavi, Urmila aur Shrutkirti, aapke bhaiyo ki." Janak said.

"Mere liye keval yeh Sukumari hi kyu ?" Shri Ram asked.

"Kyuki ki yeh Sita hai." Janak said with a smiled.

"Aapka tatparya Seet se hai ?" Shri Ram asked.

"Ha. Prithvi se hi sab kuch milta hai jaise Swarna, heere, fal, phool, nadiya adi. Manushya jeevit iss hi liye hai kyuki prithvi usko jeene ke sab saadhan pradaan karti hai bina kisi apeksha ke. Bhu-devi toh sahansheelta ki pratik hai, chaahe unka garbh cheera jaye ya khoda jaaye. Sita bhi iss prakaar satya aur sahansheelta se poorn Nari ka pratik hai. Aur aap jaise Adi- purush hetu, isse yogya koi nahi. Aap jaise vyakti uss par drishti kendrit karte hai jo upar ho, unn par nahi jo niche hai." Janak said.

"Yadi aapki putri mere yogya hai, toh yeh mera haath kyu nahi pakad rahi ?" Shri Ram asked.

"Aapke inhi shaktishaali haatho ne swayam Mahadev ka dhanush toda tha, kadachit iss baat se bhayebhit hai ki aapse iska haath na tut jaaye." Janak said in jest.

At that Shri Ram chuckled a little, while Devi Sita blushed shyly.

"Nahi tutega." He said before holding her hand ever so gently. And to Devi Sita, holding his hand felt as if she was holding a lotus. It was so soft, plus it felt like her hand was always meant to hold it.

And hence the marriage procession of all the 4 brides and grooms began. Amarsri and Srinav were felt truly blessed seeing it in front of their eyes.

They both flicked their wrist and to the astonishment of the rest, rich and highly dazzling flowers showered from the sky on the 4 couples.

And not only this, the gods from above filled the ambience of the ceremony with drumbeats of divine drums and with vocal and instrumental music, the promenades of Apsaras danced, while the gandharvas sang tunefully.

And amidst such harmony and splendor, the four sons of Dashrath married the daughters of Janak and Kushadhwaj.

A/N

In social media I came across some very silly statements passed as facts about Ramayan.

One of them was - When Luv Kush recited Ramayan, Ram ji didn't know the story was about him because the protagonist ( he himself) was shown so perfect.

Um..... Okay imagine this -

Luv Kush - Ayodhya ke Raja Dashrath ke 4 putra the Ram, Bharat, Laksman aur Shatrughan.

Ram ji - Oh ho ho. Kaun honge yeh chaaro ? Definitely not us.

Luv Kush - Ram ne Mithila ki Rajkumari Sita se vivah kiya.

Ram ji - Mithila ki Rajkumari Sita ? Definetly not me.

Luv Kush - Ram ne Rakshas-raj Ravan ka vadh kiya !

Ram ji - Ravan ka vadh ? Definetly not me.

Yeah.... That's how stupid the statement sounds.
