A dungeon dive
Ren woke up at 4 in the morning, the sky was still dark, yet it was perfect for him. The young undead had managed to turn another section of the chapel's underground into a room for him. A simple room with a couch as a bed. While he could buy himself a better bed, it was better for him to use it for other reasons.
Raising his hand, a small beacon of light shone dimly as it danced around him while he made his way to the kitchen. Reaching the living room, the young undead smiled at the sight of his adoptive brother and patron sleeping on the couch. Taking a blanket on the bed, the young man gently covered it over the duo before smiling at the sight of his companion, the bunny-like creature on two legs, the undead Moglin, Sir Liest.
"Morning," Ren greeted as the young man raised his hand, causing a screen to appear in front of him.
"Legionnaire," The Moglin said as the young man chuckled before a sword appeared on the table, a simple longsword with a dark body.
"I'm going out for a run," The young man said as he a belt with a sheath appeared around his waist along with a Knight armor composed of a chest plate, pauldrons, and gauntlets over a gambeson and chainmail shirt over his long-sleeved shirt.
"I'll stay and watch over the brats," Liest said as it hopped onto the table. Armor, sword, and shield, appearing on the creature's body.
"Play nice." Ren reminded as he exited the church. Once outside, the young man took in the fresh scent of the cool morning air. Saying nothing, the young man took off to a run in the streets of Orario. Many stalls were opening up, and some of them even sold several items to some people.
"Oh, kid! Up for another run?" Smiling, Ren nodded at the shopkeep as he paused from his run.
"Yes, I'll be buying some ingredients later," the shopkeep, an old man with white hair and short stature, let out a chuckle as he watched the young undead return to his run. Passing by the medicinal area of the merchant district, the young man noticed someone on his way.
'Fuck,' Moving quickly, the young man hopped towards the wall before jumping on it and over the person. The young undead's dark eyes met with a pair of dead-looking ones. The person, a woman with light red hair, tracked him as he landed on the ground with a roll and a crouch. Ren looked at her and in an instant, knew she was skilled enough that he would probably lose easily with his weakest class.
"Sorry, didn't notice you," saying nothing, Ren immediately went back to his run. The young man had decided to file the young woman away in his head as he passed by a fountain. Easily, the young man hopped over a barrel and some wooden posts until he landed on a rooftop.
Smiling, the young man looked at the rows of buildings from his position on the rooftop. It was a nice day.
"Back on Earth, I would never have been able to do this," Ren said with a small grin as he cracked his knuckles. "Class change, SwordMaster," The young man whispered as he felt the knowledge of his mastered class, SwordMaster, flow onto him. Out of all the nine classes that he had, it was the only one that was focused purely on Physical prowess and belonged to the third tier of classes that he had made.
It's not that because this class was weak but it was classed by criteria and this was the weakest of the group of three, with the other two being more reliable than this. The soloing classes are classes that can sustain and beat a lot of powerful monsters by themselves and it just happens that SwordMaster is in the B-tier, a.k.a. the weakest tier of classes that he has, due to its lack of sustainability.
Sidenote: This would be the first class that Ren would be willing to teach Bell. While his other classes were more capable... some of them required some... circumstances.
'SwordMaster, my fastest class and the least powerful of my classes based solely on their soloing capabilities...' Ren thought as he felt himself get faster.
Name: Ren Cruz
Species: Human (undead)
Level (Falna): 1
Class: Swordmaster (Rank 10/10)
Strength 154
Endurance 165
Speed 269
Dexterity 269
Magic 72
Skills:
Mark of Mastery: passive ability (Sealed)
Eternal Dragon seal: Active
Undead, unbound, and unclaimed: Active
Luck Enhancements
Falna skill:
Gambler's gambit
Chuckling, the young man quickly pressed on the skill 'Mark of Mastery,' a unique skill the system had given him along with his undead status.
Mark of Mastery: Multiplies your basic ability by the rank of the Class currently equipped.
'Would you like to unseal this skill for this class,'
'Y/N'
The young man just pressed the Y button and soon, the young man felt power flow through his body. Sadly, the Mark of Mastery has a glaring weakness, it essentially sealed away his chance to gain excellia for his basic abilities, leaving four of his classes in their incomplete strengths until he finds a way to power-level them.
This will be hard as the more powerful the opponent is compared to you, the more class points will be gained. Sadly, two of his classes are only at rank 5 with one at 6 and another at 9.
His Rank 5 classes will need around a total of 280,000 class points in total each to reach Rank 10, his Rank 6 class will need 258,400 class points to reach Rank 10, and finally, his Rank 9 class will need 100,000 points
'It'll probably take me a few months to a year to completely max these classes and I need to go deeper into the dungeon,' The young man thought as he spotted something, a mop of white hair. 'Bell's awake, huh?' Checking his surrounding and with his basic abilities multiplied by ten for this class, the young man quickly reached the general area.
'This looks familiar,' The young undead SwordMaster thought as he noticed a young woman approach- Suddenly, Ren froze as he turned his head at an open window with a man with black hair and cat ears on his head. The two looked at each other and the young undead's grip on his sheathed blade tightened. 'Who the fuck is that guy! I'd need to use my second-best soloing class to beat him...' Ren thought as he broke their eye contact and looked at Bell.
Having enough, the young man hopped off the roof and landed on the ground beside Bell without a sound.
"Flirting with a girl this early?" Ren said, enjoying the way how the younger male tensed up and jump.
"R-Ren!"
"Yo! Sorry, missy, but this kid and I have to go to work," Ren said while looking behind the girl and at a beautiful woman with pointy ears. 'She looks cute,' The young undead winked at the woman, an elf by her pointy ears before grabbing the white-haired boy by the back of his clothes and dragging him towards the dungeon.
"What the?! Ren!" The boy whined, holding the basket in his arms tightly as the older male walked quickly, his eyes scanning the surroundings as much as he could.
---
The oldest member of the Hestia Familia watched as his little brother moved faster than he did before. The young undead observed how Bell moved, his dagger dancing in the air just as he changed to his Farming class, a class capable of dealing damage to a group of monsters. The class Dark Lord was his weakest class due to its lack of sustainability despite its AoE abilities, yet it was perfect for these areas.
The Dark Lord's personal fighting style, Forbidden Form, essentially allowed him to attack 4 creatures at once, making it efficient at clearing crowds, but it was nothing compared to his best farming class. Raising his longsword, the young man moved. With the mark of mastery multiplying his Dark Lord Class's abilities by 5, an arc of energy hit all the monsters heading his way, killing them all and destroying their crystals.
'Fuck! I need to work more on my control,' The young man thought as he felt his mana get drained by a bit just as a metallic creature on four pointy legs formed beside him. A black machine powered by magic resembling a Droidekka from Star Wars.
The droid immediately whirled around and raised its 'hands' as bolts of magic formed on its 'hands' before they launched themselves at the monsters that approached him as he observed how Bell fought.
'Bell's becoming faster and stronger the longer he fights... I wonder if his crush on that girl that killed that minotaur is a cause of this,' The young man thought as he sheathed his sword, letting his droid take care of the monsters. 'Maybe, he has an overpowered skill that would make him stronger and get him more girls every time I look away from him.' The young undead thought with a smirk as he raised his hand an arc of energy launched itself from his hands, hitting four goblins on the chest, killing them while destroying their magic crystals. 'Fucking Critical hit skill!' The young man thought with a growl as he paused.
"Oh, shit... Hestia is so gonna kill me. I forgot to buy groceries!" The young undead whispered under his breath.
The hours passed by and soon, the duo of Hestia Familia found themselves at the entrance of the Hostess of Fertility after Bell somehow managed to make Hestia walk out.
"Kid, I am starting to think that you will be more of a headache than the dungeon," Ren said as he looked at Bell.
"No, I'm not!"
"Sure, you aren't harem boy," Ren said, a small grin on his face as Bell's face burnt red.
"I shouldn't have told you what I wanted..."
"No sweat, that's normal," Ren said as he fixed his casual clothes, a black and yellow colored shirt, and a yellow sash tied around his waist filled with symbols of a black sun along with a pair of black pants tucked into a pair of yellow and black boots. "Besides, knowing you, you're infatuated with that blonde girl, you know." Hearing his words, the white-haired boy turned red.
Unable to answer him, Bell just kept quiet while Ren chuckled.
"Come on, it's my treat tonight!" The older of the duo said with a smile as he entered the establishment. Dark eyes scanned the area as he noticed that all the girls working here were hot! "Bell... I'll give you my longsword and I'll train you to be a SwordMaster," Ren said as he looked at the younger boy.
Hearing this, red eyes sparkled as they looked at a pair of obsidian.
"Bro!" Bell said with tears in his eyes.
A pair of sky-blue eyes looked at the older of the two as if he was lower than trash.
Smiling, the young undead sat beside the boy while looking at the menu. He was still in his most agile class allowing him to easily identify many movements all around him.
Smiling as the owner gave Bell a bigger serving than he ordered, the young man looked at his own meal, a plate of pasta accompanied by a mug of ale. He did not like Alcohol that much but it had no effect on him due to his undead status making him immune to all kinds of diseases and many poisons.
Taking a fork, the young undead ate his meal as Bell and Syr talked, it was a nice evening in a homely maid (?) restaurant.
"... Ooho!"
"They royalty or somethin'?"
"' Course not, moron. Look at the emblems."
"... Meh."
Other customers just figured out that this troop belongs to Loki Familia. A new tone of whispers spreads throughout the bar.
"So that's them." "... They're the "giant-killer Familia, eh?" "Aren't they
first-class all-stars?!" "Who's the Kenki I've heard so much about?"
Ren just lowered his drink as he looked at the way how his little brother turned red. Turning around, the young man saw the same blonde girl from before, the one that killed the minotaur. 'Oh, this is gonna be good. Maybe I should just give him a push.'
"Yes-sa! Great day out there in the Dungeon today, people! Time to cut loose! Drink up!"
'Man those people are lively,' The young undead thought as he watched the one that stood up raise his mug.
"Loki Familia members are regulars here. Their goddess, Loki, seems to like it here."
Suddenly, the young undead looked at Syr. "Loki, as in Loki the trickster?" Ren asked Syr in a slightly louder voice.
"Yeah, Aiz! Tell us that one story!"
"That one story...?"
Ren and Bell suddenly stopped as they heard the conversation. Ren noticed how Bell froze and he stood up.
"Come on, Bell," Ren said, going to get his little brother away from what was about to happen.
"You know the one! About those Minotaurs that got away! Remember, you finished off the last one on the lower fifth! You know, tomato boy and that dumb skull-armored fuck!" Ren froze as his hand froze just as how he was about to drag Bell away. Obsidian eyes turned lifeless as his fingers twitched.
'Error: Gamer's mind is being overwhelmed by Negative emotions.' A screen with a message in front of Ren as he felt his breaths get harder
"Are you talking about the group of Minotaurs that attacked us on the lower seventeenth floor, and they ran away when we fought back?"
"Yeah, yeah! That one! By some miracle, they ran up! We tore after them! Already damn tired, too!"
"Yeah, and there! That 'adventurer'! Damn, newbie kid!"
'Bell,' Ren thought as he felt his emotions spike up. His hand slowly reached for the handle of his sword but he used his other hand to stop it. 'Damn it, Ren. Stop! Get Bell out of here!'
"Got himself cornered like a lil' bunny! Shaking like one, too! Poor thing was about to explode!"
"Oh? What happened to the boy? Was he okay?"
"Aiz here carved up the Minotaur at the last second, ain't that right?"
"......"
"The kid took the full blast of that stinky cow's blood, got soaked! So, tomato boy! Gya-ha-ha-ha-ha-ahhh—Ow, my ribs!!!"
"Woah..."
"Aiz, please tell me you weren't trying to do that! I'm begging you!"
"... No, I wasn't."
"And get this! Tomato boy! He ran away, screaming his head off! Gya-ha-ha-ha! Our princess saves him, and he just buggers off!"
"... Hm."
"GYA-HA-HA-HA-HA! Absolutely priceless! Aizee scares away a newbie!
You are sooo awesome!"
"Ha-ha-ha... I'm sorry, Aiz, but I can't take this anymore!"
"......"
"Ooooh, don' make them scary eyes! It ruins yer cute face!"
The entire Loki Familia table erupts with laughter.
Ren froze as his hands lost their grip, he looked at Bell, shit. He should have just killed that Minotaur instead. If he did, then Bell wouldn't have...
"Bell,"
"Um... B-Bell?" Ren looked at Syr from the corner of his eye, he was still standing yet no one seemed to notice or care about him.
"Come on, Bell, it's not worth it. They're talking shit." Ren said as he gently patted his brother's shoulder.
"But really, it's been a long time since I've seen something so pathetic! So disgusting I could cry!"
"... Hmmm."
"The hell was he doing? If you're gonna cry like a little bitch, you shouldn't be down there in the first place! Right, Aiz?"
"......"
'Thankfully, the girl's not joining in. If she did, Bell would be crushed.' Taking his money, the young man dropped the right amount for their meals. "Come on, Bell," Ren said as he grabbed Bell by his shoulder but the boy didn't even react.
"It's weak adventurers like him who give us a bad name. Just give it up already!"
"Shut your mouth already, Bete! It was our mistake that let the Minotaurs escape! That boy had nothing to do with it! And stop drinking! Learn some respect!"
"Oh-oh! You elves and your pride! But yeah, what's in it for you to protect that piece of shit? Saying it's our fault, you're lying to yourself! Just to keep your pride! Trash is trash! What's wrong with calling it what it is?"
"Hey, hey! That's enough! Bete, Reveria, relax! You're killing the mood!"
"Eh, Aiz! What did you think about him, the pathetic piece of shit who was shaking in front of you? Do you think he deserves to stand at our level, as adventurers?"
"... I don't blame him for acting the way he did under those circumstances."
"Why you acting all Goody Two-shoes? Okay then, I'm changin' the question. Him or me—who's got it going on?"
"... Bete, are you drunk?"
"Shut it! Now, Aiz! Choose! As a female, which male wags your tail? Which male makes you hot?"
"... I have no reason to answer that question, especially to you, Bete."
Ren didn't wait anymore. Grabbing Bell, the young undead dragged him by the back of his clothes. He was still young and he didn't deserve it.
"You're absurd..."
"Quiet, hag!... Well then, what if that piece of trash came up to you, said he liked you, would you take him?"
"... Hm."
"Of course, you wouldn't! Why would a tiny kid who's so weak, feeble, and all-around nauseating have the right to even stand next to you? There's no way he'd measure up!"
"A tiny kid could never land Aiz Wallenstein!"
The young undead's obsidian eyes widened slightly as Bell, his younger brother in all but blood, took his jacket off and ran away.
"Bell?!"
A young waitress pursued a boy's shadow as he burst out of the bar in a full sprint. Some of the other customers realized something had happened, but it was so fast that no one really knew for sure what was going on.
Confusion spread through the main floor of the bar.
"Did someone just dine 'n' dash?"
"At Mommy Mia's? The guy's got guts, that's for sure!"
Bete and the other adventurers at the corner table ignored the rest of the patrons' comments, but Aiz stood up. Her well-trained eyes shot through the crowd and caught a clean look at the shadow just before it got away.
A thin body with white hair.
Slightly downcast ruby-colored eyes shone from under the bangs—just like the boy from yesterday.
Could that be...?
Ren watched as his younger brother ran away. 'Fuck! I should have just dragged him away! Stupid!' The young undead thought as his left hand held the handle of his sword, his obsidian eyes narrowing as his body and muscles tightened.
Glancing over his shoulder, the young undead's eyes narrowed at the man, a werewolf, and his finger flicked the longsword off its sheath. A heavy aura of dread, despair, and darkness dropped inside the Hostess causing many to freeze up and focus on the undead as Ren's hand reached for the handle of his blade with his focus aimed at the werewolf.
"Huh?! What ya looking at?!" The werewolf asked as he leaned back in his seat.
'Would you like to remove the Eternal Dragon's seal?' A screen read as it appeared in front of him.
'No, it's not worth it. I can't just kill anyone.' The young undead thought as his sword released a 'click' when he fully sheathed it. 'I need to check up on Bell,'
"You're not worth it. After all, The dogs with the loudest bark are the ones that are most afraid," Ren said as he pressed the Y button only to disappear from view. In less than a minute, the young man found Bell and followed him while sticking to the shadows.
The young undead and Captain of the Hestia Familia watched as Bell killed and get injured.
'That stupid dog will pay.' Ren thought as dark eyes analyzed the way how his little brother manage to kill War Shadows. 'But first, I need to make sure that Bell will be strong enough. I can't always be there for him and I am a bad role model for him,' The young man thought as he drew his longsword before wiping the blade between his sleeves using his arm, soon a group of war shadows fell to the ground in countless pieces, all of their monster crystals destroyed. 'But I can give him the tools and teach him,'
'That's right,' Ren thought as he remembered that day when a pair of idiots welcomed an ambitious asshole (Himself) into their little family. A hopeful yet pathetically naive younger boy with white hair and red eyes that resembled a rabbit and a child-like woman that desired a family to love, giving her all while expecting only the best of her children. 'Those two are my family, now. While Earth is my home dimension, I guess staying in this place for a while won't be so bad,' He thought while observing how Bell fought and he changed to his weakest support class, Oracle.
A golden light surrounded the boy, healing his injuries.
"Go! Rage! Seethe! I'll heal you until you get sick and pass out!" Ren shouted to Bell as he held his sword out, with the skills of his class, his Mark of Mastery skill, and the temporary removal of the Eternal Dragon Seal, he will make sure the Bell would get all his anger out.
Hestia paced back and forth as she waited for her children to come home. She was worried for them, especially with what she said. Her eyes widened as the door opened to reveal Bell who looked worse for wear but with no wounds despite his cut-up attire.
She spent the better part of the hour fussing at him.
"Where's Ren?"
"Ren told me to go home, he said he was going to do something," Bell said while Hestia nodded.
"Don't worry about him," The bunny-like creature said. "Ren is stronger than he seems,"
Deep in the dungeon, standing over the downed body of a giant over 4 meters tall, Ren stabbed his longsword at its head, watching with emotionless eyes as the monster disappeared, leaving behind a monster crystal and a tooth. Putting the drops in his inventory, the young man looked at the numerous monsters only found on the 15th floor and above before a cruel smirk appeared on his face.
Clicking his classes tab, the young man chose his second-best farming class and raised his hand. Feeling his mana, the young man gathered as much as he could and aimed it at the hordes of monsters. A tidal wave of darkness appeared in front of him, swallowing the hordes with no effort and when the darkness disappeared, it showed the writhing dying forms and corpses of monsters, leaving their monster crystals along with their drops.
Darkness surrounded the young man as his magic hummed.
