Chapter Fifteen

THE NEXT morning, Dahlia woke up in a cheery mood. Today she was going to become a vampire and shut it all off. This way she won't have anymore thoughts about Klaus because she won't care. As she washed her face, she wondered which vampire to ask to turn her. She definitely knew it wouldn't be Kol or Elijah. Damon wouldn't be a good idea because he'd taunt her and make it painfully longer than it needs to be. Elena and Caroline are too good to turn her, so that left her with the other Salvatore brother, Stefan. How she would ask him was a different thing to worry about.

As she thought of ways to ask him, she realized he'd never say yes. So, in turn, she decided to attempt to seduce him. She wore one of his shirts and a pair of shorts and headed downstairs where, convieniently, he wasn't there. Dahlia groaned as she threw herself on the couch and decided to wait there until Stefan finally showed up.

An hour passed and Dahlia was still sitting in the living room, twiddling her thumbs. Damon walked in and watched her in a confused manner.

"Waiting for something?" He intruded as he poured himself a glass of bourbon. She ignored him and continued waiting. The Salvatore sat on the couch across from her and watched her while occasionally taking sips of his drink. Dahlia finally noticed him eyeing her and sat up.

"Can I help you?" She asked, annoyed. He looked away and drank his drink, ignoring the girl. "Are you physically unable to speak?" Dahlia pressed. Damon looked at her in surprise, like he only just heard her speak.

"Oh I'm sorry! I was pulling a Dahlia, where I ignore whoever talks to me. Seems familiar doesn't it?" She rolled her eyes.

"You're not funny." He laughed.

"And you have no sense of humor, homegirl. Now what are we waiting for?" She glared at him.

"We are not waiting for anything. I, however, am waiting for Stefan." Damon's face lit up like he thought of about a million things to say. He opened his mouth to talk but Dahlia beat him to it. "Don't even say anything." She warned. He smirked in his drink and finished it.

The two sat there for a few minutes until Dahlia snapped. "Where the hell is he?"

"Patience is virtue." He spoke with a new glass filled up with alcohol. She scoffed.

"Why are you even here? Your refill in drinks at 4pm makes me think something is up with you and Elena." She tried to provoke him so he'd leave.

"Don't psychoanalyze me, sis. Why do you need Stefan?" At that moment the front door swung open and in came Stefan. Dahlia hopped up and skipped towards him.

"Stefan!" She hugged him when he came in. Stefan shot Damon a confused look to which Damon returned with a shrug. Dahlia pulled him outside and stood in front of him.

"Dahlia..what's going o-"

"You look so good today." She fixed his collar and looked up at him with a smile.

"Thanks?" She leaned in.

"Elena doesn't deserve you." He closed his eyes at her words. She looked around, confused to what he was doing but continued anyway. "You need someone good for you." She said. "Don't you agree." Stefan opened his eyes.

"I guess.."

"So that's why I was wondering...will you turn me into a vampire?" She asked quickly. He pulled away from her with his eyebrows knitted.

"What?!" He yelped. "So that's what you were doing?" She sighed.

"Please, Stefan?" He shook his head.

"No. Vampirism isn't fun, Dahlia. You'll regret it, trust me." The girl scoffed and walked back into the house. She threw herself on the couch and laid down. Damon was still there.

"You know....I could turn you." He sung out as he watched the drink move from side to side in his cup. She sat up abruptly.

"Really? Don't joke about it, Damon. Would you?" He stroked his imaginary beard as she rolled her eyes. "Screw you." He smirked.

"At least take me out on a date first." She ignored him and stared at the ceiling, thinking of who else she could ask. Damon's head reared his way into her view over her and she groaned.

"What?" She hissed. He suddenly bit his wrist and Dahlia gasped while sitting up. He held it out but she hesitated. "No catch?" He exhaled sharply.

"No catch. Now drink before it's gone." She took a deep breath and grasped his arm. The girl brought his wrist up to her mouth and sucked the blood. She almost gagged at the vile, iron taste. He pulled away and she retched. "Oh relax, drama queen." Dahlia glared at him.

"So now what?" She asked. He straightened his back and cracked his fingers.

"This." In a flash, his hands grabbed her head and he snapped her neck with one swift motion. Dahlia was met with darkness.

Once Dahlia came to, she was furious. So furious, she didn't even realize she wasn't supposed to be alive. Her anger was soon substituted with a growing hunger. She got up from the couch she was still lying on and felt like she was going crazy. She could hear everything, from the clock ticking to Elena's annoying voice upstairs to the chandelier sparking. Dahlia turned her head towards the clock and glared it as if it would stop. The clock read 8:30, telling her she'd been passed out for 2 hours. Her teeth started to ache and she moaned softly at how weak she felt.

The sounds mixed with her craving for blood overwhelmed her and made her head hurt. The girl felt like the whole house was spinning and slowly coming down on her. Dahlia felt like she hadn't ate in days. The thought of the red liquid made her desire increase. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths. She was not going to go crazy from one day of being a vampire. A voice in front of her made her open her eyes.

"Hey, are you okay?" She saw a blue-eyed boy with light blonde hair. Dahlia recognized him as Matt. She knew he was friends with Caroline and that whole group. She forced a smile.

"Yeah I'm..." Her words cut short as her eyes were drawn over to his neck. She thought of all the blood he had and how one bite wouldn't hurt. Her breathing started to get heavy and soon Matt noticed. He took a step forward. "What are you doing?" She said hoarsely as she glued her eyes somewhere else so that her craving wouldn't take over.

"It's fine, you can take a bite from my wrist." Her eyes lit up and she licked her dry lips.

"Are you sure?" She watched him nod and hold his hand out. She awkwardly took it and dug her teeth into it. A sense of relief and euphoria washed over her. The once wretched taste of blood was now sweet and addicting. Matt clenched his jaw as she continued.

"Okay. I think that's enough." He groaned weakly when she wouldn't stop. Dahlia didn't even notice him, she was too busy drinking. At once, she was suddenly pulled away from her treat. She watched Matt look at her in pain and turned to see Damon shaking his head. The girl touched her lips and gasped.

"I..I'm so sorry, Matt. I don't know what happened, I-" He nodded his head and walked off. She bit her lip hardly when she realized she was now a vampire.

"Tsk tsk, D. You almost killed the handsome fellow. And I don't mean me." Dahlia started to hyperventilate.

"Is this always how it is?" She put a hand on her chest to calm herself down. Damon watched her in pity. He remembered how hard being a vampire was at the start.

"No. It gets much better." She looked at him with blood staining her mouth.

"I'm a monster." Her voice said in a whisper. The raven-haired man wiped the crimson from around her mouth and gave a sympathetic smile.

"Not yet." He left her alone to wallow in her misery. She remembered her plan to flip her humanity switch. As she contemplated about it, she realized it wasn't right. At least not now anyway. She had too much she had to deal with, and turning into a emotionless zombie wasn't an option right now.

Dahlia was tired of everything and just needed to rest, especially to shut out the noises she was hearing. She trudged upstairs and tucked herself in Stefan's bed. The girl closed her eyes and fell asleep fairly quick. But that night, she saw a series of things she didn't understand. She couldn't tell if they were memories or dreams, but one thing was for certain; they all included Klaus.
