07: 대치 (The Confrontation)

A few days go by, and thankfully, Yoongi has been watching Hoseok while Jin's at work. Namjoon still hasn't been around, and no one's heard from him. Jin's worried, but Jungkook and Yoongi aren't.

"Namjoon-hyung does shit like this all the time," Yoongi informs his hyung. Jin is slightly puzzled and Yoongi continues. "He sometimes will disappear for days, weeks at a time. But it's not like we don't know where he goes or what he's doing. He goes to many different places - Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, you name it - and sometimes he picks up guys, sometimes he's doing underground rap battles, or sometimes he's just taking a break from everything, and while he's gone, he rarely, if ever, speaks to anyone of us. There's a lot you don't know about Namjoon-hyung."

"He hasn't done it since before he met you, though," Jungkook says with a small smile, but then it falls slightly. "Maybe it's mostly because the last time he did, the guy he was with at the time hurt him really bad because Hyung really liked him. Or maybe it's because he hasn't felt the need to go anywhere until now."

Jin nods almost absentmindedly, and wonders if what he said really hurt Namjoon enough to drive him away.

He goes back to his apartment with Hoseok, puts him to bed and then sits down and thinks about it for a while. He wonders if he should call him, apologize, ask Namjoon to come back home, but he doesn't do anything.

He doesn't know what to feel anymore. Does he like Namjoon? Has he even known Namjoon long enough to even be able to like him?

Does he even know Namjoon?

Jin comes to the sad realization that he knows almost next to nothing about him. He doesn't know his favorite color, his birthday, what he likes to do in his spare time, where he lives, how he feels about things.

Jin doesn't really know Namjoon at all.

Namjoon appears out of the blue on a hot afternoon two weeks later at Yoongi's apartment. Jin is in the bathroom when he shows up and he hears his voice. Jin wants so badly to go to him and tell him how sorry he is, tell him how much he's missed him, but he's afraid. His body is frozen like ice in front of the mirror, and he just can't make himself open the door.

Namjoon leaves quickly anyway. When Jin peeks through the window, he sees the boy with him, their arms wrapped around each other as they walk off. Jin sees the boy kiss Namjoon's cheek, sees Namjoon smile with that fucking dimple of his, and in that moment, Jin realizes that he should stop thinking about his feelings for Namjoon. He realizes it's time to give up, even if it's before he's even started.

He looks away sadly.

-

The following weeks drag on so slowly. Jin can't stop thinking about Namjoon and that boy, and he's both sad and angry about it even though he has no right to be. But he also can't stop thinking about how stupid he is for screwing everything up.

Maybe Jin is a little jealous. Maybe. He'd never admit it though.

It's always the same. Jin's at Yoongi's when Namjoon shows up, and he'll either hide in the bathroom or in Yoongi's room until Namjoon and the boy leave. Or Jin will be at home with Hoseok when there's a knock at the door, and sometimes Jin doesn't check– just locks the door and hides.

It's childish, he knows, running away from his problems, from Namjoon, but it's what he plans to do until everything is over.

Namjoon looks happy now– well, happier, anyways, Jin notes as Namjoon leaves. Jin doesn't want to ruin that. Not again.

Never again.

It's extremely fucking hot outside on this Saturday afternoon. Jin's on his break, sipping on a vanilla milkshake as he sits atop a pink barstool. Mina is snacking on some fries and Chaewon is fanning herself and complaining about the weather with the other girl, Soomin, who looks like she is going to pass out.

Too bad the AC is broken.

On the bright side, right now there aren't any customers so they can just relax for a minute. Yoona won't arrive until later, which is when Chaewon will leave. They already got all the cleaning done too.

"The heat is awful," Soomin whines, her face pressed against the cool countertop. Chaewon nods as she sips her strawberry flavored water.

"I wish we could go swimming," Mina sighs, pushing the fries aside. "Maybe one day we should all plan a beach trip. Just us three, Yoona-ssi and Jin."

"That would be fun," Chaewon agrees, stretching. As she looks out the window, she sees someone coming. "Oh, a customer- oh wait, no, it's just Namjoon-ssi."

Jin is immediately alerted, and so is Mina, but there is no time to hide. Jin on the other side of the counter and starts busying himself with anything, just so he doesn't have to talk to Namjoon.

The boy isn't with him, but Namjoon is on the phone with him, it seems.

"-Yeah, I know, baby. I know. I'm sorry. I'll call you back. Bye."

"Ah, hey, Namjoon-oppa," Mina greets, smiling a little nervously. She's low-key panicking for Jin.

"Hey Mina, Chae, Soomin-noona," Namjoon replies with a smile, flashing his dimple. "How are you ladies today?"

"It's too hot," Chaewon complains yet again, and Namjoon only laughs. Jin hates him right now.

"That it is." Jin can feel Namjoon's eyes on him, and yet he doesn't turn around, pretends he doesn't even notice him. "Hey, Jinnie."

Jin ignores him, even going as far as brushing by him to clean off the tables. He squirts the cleaner and wipes down the first table, and he knows Namjoon is watching him.

"I said hey," Namjoon sighs a little, exasperated. Before anyone can say anything else, Namjoon is getting another call, which he answers.

Jin tries not to listen to the conversation, but he can't help himself. "Yeah baby, I'm still coming tonight. Don't worry."

Jin narrows his eyes, keeps cleaning the tables. He hears Namjoon hang up the phone and then begin to speak to him again. "Are you gonna talk to me or what?"

He almost sounds like he's trying to be flirty. This irritates Jin. He turns around and sprays Namjoon with the cleaner.

"What the hell-?"

"Begone, thot."

Mina cannot control her laughter.

Namjoon gives Jin a look. "Did you just call me a thot?"

Jin smirks a little in a bit of a sweet way. "Yes, honey, now begone." And with that he sprays him again.

Namjoon shakes his head when he unsuccessfully blocks the spray, getting upset. "So, what, first I'm not allowed to like you, then when I try to find someone that actually likes me, I'm automatically a thot?"

Jin shrugs. "Sorry, I don't know what you said- I don't really understand thot."

"Can you stop being childish?" Namjoon almost snaps, and Jin only sighs. No more messing around apparently.

"What do you want, Namjoon?" Jin questions, walking towards the back room, and Namjoon reaches for Jin's arm, stopping him.

"I wanna say I'm sorry," he begins, and Jin won't look at him. "Sorry for what I said, what I did, and sorry for leaving so abruptly."

"Why are you saying sorry?" Jin whispers, biting his lip. "You have nothing to be sorry for. It's your life- you do what you want with it. I don't need to know what you do. You don't need to explain yourself. And besides, I'm the one who was being an asshole towards you. I got upset over stupid things. But what's done is done, same goes for what's been said."

"I know you didn't mean it," Namjoon says quietly, his grip loosening but not by much, "What you said about not needing me, about me leaving you alone; I left you alone and now you're upset with me. Yoongi told me you haven't been yourself lately."

"Please, can we not do this right now?" Jin is almost on the verge of crying, and Namjoon pulls him closer, wanting to hug him.

"Jinnie, come on, I've been waiting so long to talk. Yoongi told me how you told him about not really knowing how to feel lately, about how you're confused about your feelings. I wanna know why."

Jin shakes his head. "I can't... I can't do this right now. I can't."

"If you don't want to now, then we gotta do it later. I'll cancel my plans."

Jin looks at him. "Don't– don't do that. Don't hurt that boy's feelings."

"Then talk to me."

Jin looks down at the floor. "I said what I said because I was hurt." At this point, the girls all walk outside to give them privacy. "I was hurt because... well, I don't really even know myself."

Namjoon's phone buzzes then, and with an apologetic look, Namjoon reads the message.

"I'm sorry, I have to go, it's my sister- I have to pick her up," Namjoon sighs, coming closer to Jin. He really does hug him then, and feels Jin hug him back. "Let's talk tonight. I'll be here to pick you up at 8:30. I'd rather be with you than him anyway. I... might have been trying to make you jealous by dating Jackson..."

Jin's lips part. "Namjoon-hyung," he whispers, and Namjoon pulls back with a smile before he's leaving.

Jin's just standing there when the girls come back inside. Mina hugs him. "You okay?" She asks, and he nods a little. To be honest, he feels way better than before, even if he doesn't seem like it.

I'm SORRY IT WAS LATE! I added some more to the original (;
