"On your mark, get set, go!"

Donnie yelled as his brothers and daughter ran to go hide as he counts. Kale happily jump through the roof top and went down the ladder and landed swiftly on the ground and hid in the shadows as she giggled and waited for her father to find her. As she remained quiet, she heard sniffling as someone was crying. Kale found the source of the sound as she saw a boy around her age sitting on the fire escape just outside his window. Kale knew better than to make contact with humans but he was crying. She made her up to him, hoping not to scare him off.

"Hey....are you okay?"

She asked. The boy gasp as he looked up from his arms but saw no one.

"Who's there?"

"I heard you crying"

The boy wipe away his tears angrily and stood up.

"I wasn't crying"

"Yes you were"

Kale said jumping on to the fire escape scaring the boy who took a step back.

"W-what are you?"

"I'm a mutant turtle"

"No way"

The boy said in shock and soon smile as he had a good look at Kale.

"Is there more of you?"

Kale slightly turn away from him.

"I don't think I should answer that"

"I'll take that as a yes"

He said with a smirk. Kale scoffs as she look away from him.

"Fine, I'm out of here"

She said as she was about to leave.

"No wait"

The boy said quickly as he grabbed her three-finger hand.

"I didn't mean to be rude, I just... you're new to me"

"And you're new to me"

She answered.

"Do you want to sit and get to know each other?"

He asked. Kale smile.

"As long as you promise not to tell anyone about me?"

The boy sat down as he patted beside him.

"I promise"

Kale took a deep breathe as she nodded and sat beside him.

"I'm Tommy"

"Kale"

"That's really pretty"

He said causing Kale to blush. They started talking, time flew by and Kale completely forgot the hide and seek game with her Dad and Uncles.

"Kale!!!"

Yelled a voice. The two kids immediately stop talking as Kale gasp.

"Oh no! My Dad is gonna flip out on me"

She said frantically as she stood up.

"Well, you know what helps sometimes? Try thinking of a funny movie, like the Looney Tunes that's what I always do when I'm getting it.

"Getting what?"

She asked confused.

"Well, you know, when you're Dad is pounding you.

"You mean hitting? My Dad never hits me, does yours hit you?"

Tommy froze.

"No, just forget it, go ahead, leave"

"But you said you always think of a funny movie, do you get hit a lot?"

Tommy let out a sigh.

"Look, I didn't mean anything by it, just forget it, okay"

"Tommy, you can trust me, I swear."

"No, I don't care if you swear on your mother's life."

Kale sadly looked down

"My mother is not in my life."

"Oh, I'm sorry. Mine's not alive"

"I'm sorry"

"Look, my Dad does hit me sometimes, but it's my own fault for ticking him off. Boy, did he really clubbed on me last week and today."

"You mean when you were crying earlier?"

"Yeah"

"Maybe you should tell someone"

"No, no. I can't tell anyone and neither can you. I gotta go"

"But Tommy..."

"Kale, you gotta swear to me. You can't tell anyone as long as you live. Ever you got it, okay?"

"Okay, I swear"

She said as she watched him go through the window. She sadly headed back to the rooftop to see her Uncles and Father.

"Kale, where have you been?"

Donnie asked immediately but he was answered by a tight hug from his daughter, leaving him and his brothers confused.

*Days Later*

Kale began to feel guilty from keeping the secret from her father, so instead she decided to tell her Uncle Raph. She hesitantly knock on his door. The door immediately open.

"Uncle Raph can I talk to you?"

"Sure"

A moment of silence past and Raph cleared his throat.

"Something you wanna talk about?"

"Yeah"

"I can't hear you unless you speak up"

"I can't, I promised I wouldn't tell. And you all taught me never to break a promise."

"Yes, well, that's a good rule, but once in a while there are exceptions to every rule."

"There are?"

"Yeah"

Kale bit her bottom lip and told him everything.

"Oh I got to report this right now"

"Why?"

"Because if I don't, I'll go straighten him up myself"

"No Uncle Raphie, please. I swore I wouldn't tell."

Raph let out a sigh as he bend down to her level.

"Listen princess, I know you wanna keep your promise, but if you know this is happening and you don't say anything about it, you're only helping it happen again."

Kale sadly look down as he placed his hands on her shoulder.

"But what will happen to Tommy if we report it?"

"What happens to Tommy if we don't?"

*One Week Later*

"Hey Kale, listen, I wanna talk to you about your pal Tommy, okay."

He said as he motion for her to sit on the chair and April was there.

"Okay"

"Aunt April helped us"

"Listen, I made some calls today and the child welfare people.. they took Tommy and they put him in a foster family."

April said softly. Kale sadly looked down before looking up at Raph and April.

"They took him away from his home? I never should have told you, now he's gonna hate me"

"It's not your fault"

April said gently placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Then why do I feel so lousy?"

"Cause it's a lousy situation kid. Listen, I realize how hard this was for you, but the bottom line is thanks to you, Tommy's father can't hurt him tonight."

Raph said. Kale gently smile.

"Thank you, the both of you"

She said as she got up and gave them a hug before running off to her father's lab and gave him a hug and a kiss.

"What was that for?"

Donnie asked with a smile, Kale smiled back.

"Just because"

"I can take a free hug, anytime"
