THE DEVIL LIKES TO SAY that he does not make deals for people's souls, which is true apart from one exception.

Hunter Blackwell sold his soul to Satan himself to cure his family from the plague that had infected their village. Of course it worked and his family were saved, but when the next wave of disease came around a year later, they weren't so lucky. Selling his soul ended up meaning nothing: his family still ended up six-feet under but now he was indebted to the warden of the damned.

Signed with his own blood, it was a contract Hunter couldn't break so he ended up becoming the Devil's right hand man, his Ghost Rider.

The Ghost Rider was the only soul the Devil had bargained for and the only soul he ever would.

Years past and Hunter did as Lucifer commanded, punishing those who deserved it and then sending them down to the eternal torment that awaited them. He could never escape the prison he had unknowingly led himself into, because the only one with the key was the Devil and he was not going to unlock that door. So for centuries Hunter Blackwell roamed the Earth, dishing out justice and hunting those consumed with sin.

It was a cycle that wouldn't end, not even when his so called 'Master' came back to Earth on his vacation from Hell. But still, Hunter continued his cycle of hellfire and motorbiking, very adamant of ignoring the fact that Lucifer Morningstar was back on the mortal plane.

It later turned out that Hunter couldn't ignore the Devil much longer as he was soon summoned to aid him with tracking down his missing Mother leading to the Ghost Rider to become something he never imagined: part of Lucifer's life.

• To save his family from the plague, Hunter sold his soul but they still ended up dying a year later. He then became the Ghost Rider.

• Hunter's abilities are just like those of the MCU Ghost Rider: superhuman strength, speed, durability, agility, healing, hellfire manipulation, soul/sin reading and consumption etc.

• The only time the Devil makes deals for people's souls is when he's looking for a new Ghost Rider. Ghost Riders are immortal until the Devil says so and can live for a very long time. Hunter is almost 500 years old by the events of Lucifer.

•  It took a long time for Hunter to properly control Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider only used to appear in the presence of sin but now Hunter can control him. The more evil a person is, the harder it is to keep Ghost Rider inside.

• Over the years, Hunter has been able to keep himself under the radar. He likes to travel a lot which has helped to keep him and Ghost Rider safe.

notes:

• So yes, Hunter is inspired by MCU's Ghost Rider because I thought it would be so interesting in Lucifer.

• If you want to turn this into a Lucifer x Chloe x OC poly fic, I would totally be down for that but it's up to you. Hunter's relationship needs to have at least Lucifer in it.

• Hunter is a Private Investigator and over the years has collected a lot of useful knowledge so the LAPD like to consult with him as well as Lucifer when Hunter turns up.

• Hunter knows Lucifer is on Earth, he can sense it and knew from the beginning.

• Maze and Hunter are BROTP. The ultimate soulless, leather wearing, motorbike riding duo. They're the best.

• Lucifer and Hunter talk a lot about his soul and how Lucifer still has it. First of all, Lucifer stops using Hunter's soul as leverage and control. Later on he offers to give Hunter his soul back which he does right at the end.

ACT ONE
lucifer season two

• Lucifer calls in Hunter to help look for his mother. Hunter isn't pleased to see Lucifer again after all that time apart and Amenadiel thinks calling Hunter was a bad idea. Hunter ends up getting pulled into Lucifer's LAPD life and proves he is worthy to stay in it. Lucifer is surprised Hunter became a PI. Hunter barely uses Ghost Rider and only does when Chloe and the people who don't know aren't there. Hunter helps Lucifer, he can't exactly say no, Lucifer still has his soul.

ACT TWO
lucifer season three

• Hunter is the first to notice Lucifer's disappearance and is completely shocked by the wings. Hunter does not like Pierce from the start, his Ghost Rider can sense the darkness. Still, Hunter helps Lucifer figure out how to kill Cain. Hunter and Lucifer start to grow really close over this season and makes Lucifer consider who he really wants. Chloe is making Hunter bleed as well, because Chloe's love makes anyone vulnerable and the two are also getting close. Lucifer and Hunter are both broken when Chloe leaves after she finds out.

ACT THREE
lucifer season four

• Chloe is back and Hunter and Lucifer both know something is wrong. Ghost Rider punishes evil so they're more determined with killing Lucifer than Hunter but he is on their list. Hunter and Lucifer have bonded really close in everything that's going on. Hunter adores Charlie. When Lucifer goes back to Hell, Hunter is crushed and they end up kissing goodbye.

ACT FOUR
lucifer season five

• Hunter knows something is up when 'Lucifer' returns and almost immediately realises it isn't him but plays along with it to find out what's really going on. Considering he's the Ghost Rider, the right hand of Hell, God actually really likes Hunter. Hunter doesn't like him much because of everything he's done. Lucifer and Hunter are together by now and love each other and fight together. Michael found the original contract between Hunter and Lucifer and teared it up, releasing Hunter from it. He is killed instead of Chloe and Lucifer saves him.

ACT FIVE
lucifer season six

• Lucifer is going to be God and Hunter isn't sure about it. He loves Lucifer and cares a lot about him so he knows being God won't make him happy. Being mortal and no longer the Ghost Rider is very strange for Hunter but Lucifer helps him get through it. You can decide how Rory fits into this act. At the end, there's a tear-filled goodbye.

• A sweet epilogue would be nice to end with.
