ami flung her arms loosely around taeyong's neck when she spotted him in front of the restaurant. niko walked up to yuta, a smile playing on her lips as she watched ami place a kiss to taeyong's cheek.

she sucked in a surprised breath when she felt fingers graze softly against the back of her hand and looked up to see yuta looking down at her. his smile didn't move as he said, "you look pretty."

hearing that made niko's chest flutter. she knew her style was a bit... strange, but the fact that yuta seemed to genuinely enjoy her outfit made her happy. "thank you," she said with a grin. "you look handsome."

"come on," ami called from behind them. both niko and yuta glanced in her direction as she waved them toward the entrance. "our seats are in the back. i don't think we'll be spotted going in, but put your masks on just in case!"

niko grabbed the mask ami had given her earlier and pulled it on, smiling when she watched ami adjust taeyong's. his eyes crinkled and sparkled and he looked at her—admired her.

"they're cute," she found herself whispering to yuta. he leaned to the side slightly, moving closer to her so she could hear him better. "oh, yeah. i think she's taeyong's first serious girlfriend."

niko had to bite back the surprised sound that threatened to burst past her lips. she didn't know why she assumed all the members of vybe had been in serious relationships, even mark. instead, she closed her lips into a smile as she and yuta followed the giddy couple into the restaurant.

dinner was quick and rather casual. the mood never felt romantic, except for one moment when taeyong kissed the back of ami's hand, but even that felt more comfortable than anything else.

"hey, nik!" taeyong called once they'd finished and paid for everything. "i want to show ami around the studio at vybe. do you mind riding back with yuta?"

hiding her blush was easy in the dark, but it took extra effort to force her voice to sound clear. "sure. have fun."

taeyong flashed a genuine smile. "i'll bring her home right after! no funny business, you two." he added, playfully narrowing his eyes at yuta and niko before opening the door for ami and driving off.

that left just the two, standing in front of the restaurant in the dark. yuta hummed. "wanna see a movie? i heard they're showing the nightmare before christmas at this ancient-looking theater near our old dorm."

niko nodded her head. she happened to love the nightmare before christmas, along with coraline, the corpses bride, and other films she probably shouldn't have watched as a young child.

"i should release a halloween-theme single," niko announced mindlessly as she and yuta walked to the theater. it was about a fifteen minute walk from the restaurant, and thought it was a bit chilly, niko didn't mind one bit.

yuta seemed to beam at the idea. "you have such a light, delicate singing voice that i think something spooky would be super cool from you. like, a mourning spirit trying to pass on, or something."

the girl's smile was genuine. she liked the way he lit up when talking to her, especially when it was about music or anything he could spin into a compliment.

feeling a sudden burst of confidence run up her spine and into her limbs, niko reached out and took yuta's hand in hers. he glanced at her for a moment, surprised at the silent action, before closing his fingers over hers.

together, without another word, the two entered the theater and found open seats, their minds a bit preoccupied to pay full attention to the film.
