Q&A - Part II (2015)
11. Do you prefer reading in 3rd person or 1st and why?
I really like this question! I love reading in both third person and first person. I love first person because you get to be inside the protagonist's head but I also like third because you get to see the same story from an outsiders POV. Also with third person you get to know certain things before the protagonist which can be frustrating but also really interesting.
12. What do you like most about writing? Any tips for future writers?
I'll keep it short and simple, I love writing because it allows me to expand my imagination, create characters and envision whole worlds. I think one of the best things in life is to lose yourself in a good story. A tip for future writers would be, find a quiet place to write and just write. Don't sit down and force yourself to write because the words will come across as forced. I sometimes spend the whole day daydreaming about ideas and then sit down to write at midnight!
13. Can I marry Alex?
I don't think Rose would be too happy about that but I'll put in a good word for you.
14. What made you start your stories off the way you did?
I honestly think I have scared people with the beginning of Royal Blood. The first chapter is from the POV of an unknown narrator telling the story of The Lost Princess of Scotland. I actually wrote this chapter after I'd rewritten the second one a couple of times. It was important for me to inform the reader of the tale instead of hiding it from them. I wanted to catch the reader's attention straight away so I used the death of Rose's Aunt and Uncle to shock the reader.
15. Are you planning to publish Royal Blood as paperback?
Who knows, I never expected the story to get the reception that it has! It makes me so happy that so many people are enjoying the story. Before I even think about publishing it needs a lot of work doing to it, I need to edit it thoroughly and I want to develop Rose and Alex's relationship more in the earlier chapters. Publishing the story would be amazing but I know it takes a lot of hard work J
16. What made you want to write a prequel to Royal Blood?
Princess Georgiana has always been one of my favourite characters. When she's involved in a scene, every word she says has meaning behind it. She has a very strong personality which interests me a lot, I want to dig into her past and see what made her who she is today. A lot of things have happened to her which will all be revealed in Out of Bounds, Francis had a lot of influence in her life growing up which hopefully a lot of readers will be interested in.
17. How do you go about choosing the characters for your stories?
Honestly they just appear in my head. I think up different situations and visualise what I think the characters would look like and how they would react to what's happening around them.
18. Book recommendations?
I read His To Keep by Lydia161290 (She's recently restarted her profile and is in the middle of rewriting it) and it's probably the best story I've ever read on Wattpad. Every character is so beautiful, even the Sadist Priest! Her writing draws you in and the male protagonist is so intriguing, the whole plot plays on your mind after you finish it. I love any story by NaughtyRosie, she's an adult writer so just keep that in mind if you check out her work (which you should, it's great!)
19. What's your writing process?
My actual writing process is very simple; I procrastinate for hours and then just power through the chapter. In the hours leading up to that moment I spend so much time running through ideas in my head. Coming up with the ideas is probably my most favourable part of writing a story, I love imagining characters in my head and putting them in different situations. My main influence is film; I'm a Film student so I get many ideas from stuff that I've watched. I also look up images on Tumblr and Pinterest which sometimes trigger scenarios. I recently listened to a song and a whole new story flashed before my eyes which was new for me, I always listen to music to help me write but that one song really triggered a really interesting plot.
20. Which genre would you like to try writing for next?
I'm a huge fan of Horror. For my college coursework I had to write a screenplay and I focused mine on Horror/Thriller and I had so much fun. I'm weird, I love learning about serial killers and psychopaths and finding out what their motives are. So in the future I'd love to try writing a horror story.
I will definitely be answering more of your questions in the future. I had so much fun answering them :)
