Second Stage

"Entry Number XXX:

I've run every permutation of every variation on my theory, and all the simulations lead to the same conclusion.

It is possible.

Using the same principles from the capsules, remodeled into the proper shape and size, with the correct starting material and the proper environment to encourage growth, life can begin.

The being(s) created will be formless and non-sapient, but their soul will be capable of channeling and amplifying magical energy due to the artificial soul's structure.

If I can get the souls from Asgore to augment the flow, this being(s) could be enough to break the barrier.

To set us free.

Not to mention the new life form in and of itself would be incalculably valuable, an unprecedented breakthrough in the field of magical biology.
The amount of information that could be learned from this new life form would be immeasurable.

The possibilities thrill me.

I'd forgotten what this feels like."

It's been a couple of more months and the idea of creating artificial beings had deeply rooted inside of Gaster's mind. With the ideas and possibilities, the thrill of new discoveries, he felt like he had regained a part of himself. Gaster felt more optimistic and somewhat hopeful even.

He would start off with formless and non-sapient beings and hopefully succeed in doing so. And then, at some point, maybe he could bring you back.
Maybe he could restore you and he would bring you to the surface world and he would finally have the life he always dreamed of having.

With you by his side.

I can't do this."

Gaster found himself hesitating as he wrote down more of his theories and calculations.

The math adds up.

He would succeed.

But that would mean he would create a life. Even if not conscious, he was creating something that would go beyond all his morals.

What would Asgore think?

What would [Y/N] think?

All of it was so wrong.

It was for a good cause.

It was all for the well-being of monsterkind but at the same time, he found himself at a threshold that he did not dare to cross.

Only now, he realized what he was thinking about now that he said it out loud. The opportunities both thrilled and frightened him.

Gaster found himself returning to their secret hideout more frequently. The rushing of water soothed him, seemed to untangle his thoughts. He sat in the middle of the Echo flowers on a patch of grass. Gaster sighed and turned to one of the Echo flowers, gently stroking its petals.

"I believe in you, G!", he heard your voice echo back at him and he smiled bitterly.
His chest ached slightly and he remained still for a moment to recollect his thoughts.

Gaster slowly rose to his feet and walked up to the flower that held the most special message of you. He lovingly touched the petals:

"I love you, [Y/N].", he heard his own voice.

There was a small silence and he remembers how you smiled at him back then:

"I love you too, G..."
