Yeah I know, probably everyone has already read this, but if you are one of the few Frerard fans like I was that shied away from this story because of the length, or things you have heard from other people, or whatever the reason - don't, because I finally finished it not too long ago, and wow - it was worth it.
So in my opinion, this fic did start off really slow. I read the first chapter over a year ago, and I had no desire to continue it, but JC brought it up randomly one day while I was on vacation, and I had free time, so I got back into it.
It took me forever to read...almost two weeks or something like that (I usually read most books in a week - even full length novels), so yeah, it's long af, but I am so glad I forced myself to pick it back up, and it actually made me cry, which is a pretty big accomplishment since I am a cold-hearted bastard.
I will shut up now, because I am pretty sure that everyone who actually pays attention to this rec list is like "wth Starr you are so weird for just reading this now", so yeah - go read it if you haven't.
I would recommend reading it on LiveJournal, even though there is a few copies posted on Wattpad. The first one I found on here was missing parts, and not just chapters - random paragraphs would be completely gone, and I only noticed because I checked the comments. There is a full version on here, but quite a few of the chapters were marked private, and I don't like following people who only post other's works, but if you don't mind that, I'll add the link for that as well.
There is also an Epilogue and a sequel called The Rainbow, I read the Epilogue and it was really cute, but I am only on chapter three of The Rainbow, so I don't have a thorough review for that just yet, but so far I like it.
Update: I have now officially finished The Rainbow and I am not sure what to think about it.
For a short, spoiler free summary, I liked the beginning, I hated the middle, and I adored the end.
I don't think it's a necessary read, and in some ways I wish I had stuck with just The Dove Keeper because The Rainbow changed a lot of things and didn't really focus on just Frank and Gerard, but at the end of the day, it was very well written and it made me feel a lot of things which is a rare occurrence.
