4- Date

Your POV

I woke up to find Nya still sleeping peacefully beside me. Rolling onto my back, I grabbed my phone and started scrolling.

Come on, everyone stalks at least once in their life.

I found myself on the ninjas' profiles:

Zane: Full of scientific facts and pictures of his latest cooking experiments.

Lloyd: A mix of team photos and some with his parents.

Jay: Pics of him and Nya, plus a bunch of new machines or whatever nerdy things he was into.

Cole: Lots of posts about his dad... and even more about cake.

Kai—oh.

His feed was loaded with selfies, and the most recent one? Posted two minutes ago.

It was a typical Kai morning pic: his signature smirk, amber eyes practically glowing, messy-yet-perfect hair...

Oh sht!!!*

My finger had slipped.

I just liked the damn picture.

Panic set in immediately. No, no, no—he can't see I did that! He'll know I was on his profile!

I frantically tapped at my screen. WHY CAN'T I UNLIKE IT?!

Why does life hate me?

And as if today couldn't get any worse, I had a date with him tonight.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. Stay calm, (Y/N). Everything will be fine.

I threw off the covers and decided to go downstairs for coffee. I never drank coffee, but this morning? I needed it.

Just as I was taking my first sip, Kai strolled in.

"Since when do you drink coffee?" he asked, stepping into the kitchen.

I took another sip before responding. "Only today, because I have to see your face all day."

I didn't even know if that comeback made sense, but hey—I burned him.

Kai smirked. "Then why did you like my morning selfie?"

My eyes shot open.

Oh. No.

"I...uh... I-I... euh..." What was wrong with me?!

Kai just laughed and walked off, casually grabbing his breakfast while I glared daggers at the back of his head.

Nya's POV

I woke up slowly, stretching as I realized (Y/N) wasn't in bed. She's probably downstairs already.

I stepped into the hallway, but before I could take another step, I was suddenly pinned to the wall.

"Hey!" Cole grinned excitedly.

I sighed. "What do you want?"

"I just had a brilliant idea!"

I raised an eyebrow. "Since when do you get ideas?" I laughed, but he just gave me a deadpan stare. "Okay, okay, what's your idea?"

He smirked. "I wanna help Kai out, and you wanna help (Y/N) with the date. So... let's follow them all night and see how it goes."

For once, Cole actually had a good idea. Even though it was really not our business...

"Okay, I'll get (Y/N) ready. Text me when Kai is. We'll act like nothing is going on and just... spy."

"Exactly. Oh, by the way, Kai's taking her to 'The Crown.'"

"Ooh, fancy. Guess that means they have to dress up."

We exchanged a mischievous look before I went off to find (Y/N).

Your POV

I was comfy.

Sitting on the couch in my hoodie and sports shorts, eating chocolate ice cream, watching my favorite show—absolute perfection.

Until Nya walked in.

"Hey! Ready to get ready?!" she beamed.

I blinked at her. Ready to get ready?

Lloyd and Zane, who were sitting beside me, both turned to look as well. My mouth was still full of ice cream.

Nya gasped. "Oh. My. God. There's so much work to do!"

I swallowed. "But the date is in, like, three hours!"

"Exactly. And we need time to pick a dress for you at your place."

I groaned and got up.

"See ya later, (Y/N)!" Lloyd teased. "Ugh, women. Right, Zane?"

Zane, still watching TV, simply nodded.

I turned and glared at Lloyd, but Nya dragged me out before I could throw my spoon at him.

Just as we were leaving, Kai passed by and stopped right in front of me.

He crossed his arms, giving me an unimpressed once-over. "Hope my sister dresses you properly, 'cause I'm not taking you out like that."

I scoffed. "Oh, shut up, porcupine-haired idiot!"

Nya snickered as I stormed off with her to my apartment.

Once we got to my place, I collapsed onto my bed while Nya started digging through my closet.

I watched as she pulled out hoodie after hoodie, joggers, oversized shirts...

With each item, her frustration grew. "No. No. No. Why do you only have hoodies and sweatpants?! Do you even own a dress?!"

I shrugged. "I don't wear dresses."

She rolled her eyes. "Okay, new plan: you go take a shower, and I will get a dress for you."

"Am I obligated to wear a dress?" I asked flatly.

"Yes! Now go!" she huffed, shoving me toward the bathroom.

After my shower, I stepped out wearing a sports bra and shorts, only to see Nya holding up a red dress.

It was... stunning.

"It's pretty, but I'm not wearing it." I deadpanned.

Nya smirked. "Oh yes, you are!" She shoved it into my hands, forcing me back into the bathroom.

Once I put it on, I hesitated before stepping out.

Nya's mouth dropped. "Oh. My. God. (Y/N), you look amazing!"

I fidgeted. "Uh... thanks?"

She beamed. "Now for makeup—"

"No. No makeup."

She sighed. "Fine. But at least let me do your hair."

Rolling my eyes, I let her work her magic. She braided my hair and secured it with a black elastic. After showing me in the mirror, I had to admit—she did a really good job.

She handed me a pair of black ankle boots. "Put these on."

I did.

Nya clapped her hands. "You're ready!"

I took a deep breath. "Thanks, Nya. Really."

She grinned and pulled out her phone.

Kai's POV

I adjusted my black tux and red tie.

Cole, sitting on my bed, looked me over before smirking. "She's so gonna fall for you, man."

I laughed. "We'll see."

Cole grabbed his phone for a few seconds before standing up. "Alright, let's go!"

I raised an eyebrow. "You're coming with me?"

"Yeah, I have something to work on with Nya."

We walked to (Y/N)'s apartment.

I knocked, and the door swung open to reveal Nya's smug face.

Then I saw her.

(Y/N) stepped forward, wearing that red dress, her hair elegantly braided. No makeup, but she didn't need any.

For the first time, I didn't have a single smartass comment.

She smirked. "Well? Am I dressed properly enough for you to take me out?"

I blinked before nodding. "It'll do."

"Have fun, you two!" Nya called out before shutting the door behind us.

We weren't holding hands or anything. Just walking side by side in silence, making our way to the restaurant.

When we arrived, a blonde waitress around our age greeted us with a bright smile. She glanced at me, tilting her head slightly.

"So, do we have a reservation?" she asked.

"Yes, under Mr. Smith," I replied smoothly.

"Follow me," she said, placing a hand on my arm as she led us to our table. Before walking away, she leaned in slightly. "I'll be back in a bit to take your orders."

(Y/N) cleared her throat. "So."

I looked up at her. "So... what are you getting?" I asked, trying to make conversation.

"Spaghetti."

I nearly choked on air. Spaghetti? On a date? Everyone knows you never order spaghetti on a date. The sauce gets all over your face, and you end up looking like an idiot.

"You?" she asked, completely unbothered.

"...Same as you," I muttered, not really thinking.

Right on cue, the cute waitress returned to take our orders. What? I said cute. And?

A few minutes later, our plates arrived, and (Y/N) immediately started eating. I chuckled and followed suit.

We ate in silence. Not much eye contact. The awkward tension between us could probably be cut with a knife.

After a while, I set my fork down. "I'll go to the washroom," I said, pushing my chair back.

Nya's POV

This date was not going well.

They weren't even talking!

When I saw Kai get up, I sighed. Probably just going to the bathroom.

Then, to my horror, Cole got up too.

"Cole! What the hell are you doing?!" I whisper-shouted.

"I have to pee!" he replied.

I shot him a deadpan look as he walked off, but to my surprise, he came back way too fast.

"That didn't take long," I muttered, narrowing my eyes.

He crossed his arms. "I didn't pee."

I frowned. "Why?"

Cole sighed and motioned toward my brother. "Because your brother just ruined everything."

My eyes widened. "What?!"

Your POV

I hate life.

Where the hell is he?

It doesn't take this long for a guy to pee.

I got up, heading toward the restroom, but froze the moment I spotted him.

Kai.

With the waitress.

Making out.

My stomach twisted. How the hell am I supposed to react?!

I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm.

"Kai?" I said, my voice sharper than I intended.

He immediately pulled away, blinking as he turned to face me.

"Uh... hey, (Y/N)."

I folded my arms. "Nice date we're having, huh?"

Kai smirked. "Really nice," he said, completely unbothered.

I rolled my eyes. "You do know that when you're on a date with someone, you're supposed to kiss them—not the waitress?"

He grinned. "Ohhh, so you want me to kiss you?" That damn playful smirk of his. I hated it.

The waitress giggled, touching his arm. "I'll leave you two alone. Call me later," she said, winking before walking off.

I glared at him.

"Are you jealous or something, Princesse?"

I scoffed. "No, I'm not. Stop."

Kai chuckled. "Why are you always acting like a five-year-old?"

I crossed my arms. "Well, this five-year-old says go to hell."

Damn it. I did sound like a five-year-old.

Kai just laughed. "I hate you," I grumbled. "It was the worst idea of my life to pick dare."

Cole's POV

Their fight was getting louder. People were staring.

I turned to Nya. "You got a plan to stop them?"

She huffed. "This has to end. They've been at each other's throats since the day they met!" She reached into her pocket, pulling something out.

I blinked. "Are those handcuffs?"

"Yep."

"You've been carrying those around this whole time?"

"Yep."

"...Not weird at all."

She smirked. "Let's do this."

Kai's POV

"It's not my freaking fault! Stop blaming me!" I snapped.

(Y/N) was about to yell back when suddenly—

"STOP!"

We both turned to see Nya standing there, arms crossed, looking way too smug for my liking.

"Hand out your wrists," she ordered.

(Y/N) frowned. "Why?"

"Because she said so," Cole added from behind her.

Wait. Were they spying on us?!

Reluctantly, we held out our wrists.

Nya snapped the handcuffs on, chaining (Y/N) and me together.

"WAIT. WHAT?!" I yanked at the cuffs, but they wouldn't budge. (Y/N) did the same, her face turning red with frustration.

"Nya! What the f—"

"Until you two get along, you're staying like this," Nya said, smirking. "We're tired of you two always fighting."

"Oh, great," (Y/N) said sarcastically, tugging at the cuffs again. "And how are we supposed to go to the bathroom? Change? Or take a shower?!"

"Not our problem," Nya said with a satisfied grin.

"Now, let's get back home," Cole added, leading the way as we begrudgingly followed, the entire restaurant watching our very public humiliation.

This was going to be hell.
