Kai POV
"NYA!!!! WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING REALLY, REALLY SERIOUS!!! I DON'T KN—"
I stop mid-sentence when I see Y/n sitting beside Nya.
"Hey, Y/n. What's up?" I ask, leaning against the doorframe with a smirk.
She laughs nervously. "Uhm, nothing. Just having some girl talk with your sister."
"Oh? Talking about me?" I tease, raising an eyebrow.
Nya rolls her eyes. "So, what did you wanna talk about?"
I glance at Y/n before rubbing the back of my neck. "Uh... ya know... things."
"Mmm-hmm. Got it." Nya smirks knowingly before turning to Y/n. "I'll leave you two alone."
Y/n grabs a small bag before standing up. She leans in, kissing my cheek before heading out. I grin, feeling my face warm up slightly.
Y/n POV (About half an hour earlier)
"NYA!!! I NEED YOUR HELP WITH SOMETHING REALLY SERIOUS AND I DON'T KN—"
I freeze.
Nya and Jay are full-on making out on her bed.
"SERIOUSLY?!" I exclaim, covering my eyes.
Jay groans in frustration, running a hand through his hair. "Can we do anything without you barging in?!?!"
"Like I want to see that?!" I snap back.
Nya sighs dramatically. "Alright, calm down." She fixes her hair before turning to me. "What's up?"
I shift awkwardly. "Uhm... Kai is taking me on a date tonight... in like three hours... and I have no idea what to do."
Nya's face lights up. "Okay, come sit. Mama will help."
I settle beside her on the bed while Jay watches us with mild interest.
"So, what do you think will happen tonight?" she asks, wiggling her eyebrows.
I shrug. "I don't know... another dinner? But that's kinda boring..."
"Mmm, yeah. Are you nervous?"
Jay scoffs. "Why would she be nervous? It's just a date."
"JUST A DATE?!?!" Nya yells, making Jay shrink back.
I sigh. "I am a little nervous. I just... don't want it to be awkward. Or like our last date... where he cheated on me."
Jay shrugs. "I mean, that's what a player does."
I frown, and Nya glares at him. "Yeah, before. But he didn't know you then. He just wanted to play with you. But because of me, you two got closer, and now he actually loves you. He'd give his life for you, Y/n."
My face heats up. "You really think so?"
"I know so."
Jay nods slowly. "Yeah... what she said." He then blinks and shakes his head. "Ugh, girl convos are so complicated. Even if you concentrate really hard, they make zero sense!"
Nya rolls her eyes. "What are you gonna wear?"
I blink. "Uh... I still don't know."
Nya gasps. "WHAT?! YOU HAVE TWO HOURS AND FIFTY-FIVE MINUTES LEFT, AND YOU STILL DON'T KNOW?!"
She rushes to her dresser, tossing clothes aside. "No... not your style... nope... doesn't match your eyes—AHA! PERFECT!"
She holds up a gorgeous dress.
"You have so many dresses..." I comment.
"Yup. Now put this on." She shoves it into my hands before turning to Jay.
He sighs. "Alright, I'll wait outside."
As soon as I put it on, I gasp. "Whoa... I look... amazing."
Nya claps her hands. "Oh my god, you're gorgeous! We'll leave your hair as is—natural and effortless. Stunning."
Jay's voice interrupts. "Uh, girls? Kai is heading this way. And he looks terrified."
Nya's eyes widen. "Take off the dress!!!"
I quickly change back into my regular clothes. Nya shoves the dress into a bag and hands it to me just as the door swings open.
Kai POV
"NYA!!!! WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING REALLY, REALLY SERIOUS!!! I DON'T KN—"
I stop when I see Y/n.
"Hey, Y/n. What's up?" I smirk, leaning against the doorframe.
She laughs nervously. "Uhm, nothing. Just having a girl talk with your sister."
"Oh? Talking about me?" I tease.
"So, what did you wanna talk about?" Nya asks.
I glance at Y/n before repeating, "Uh... ya know... things."
Nya grins knowingly. "Mmm-hmm. Got it. I'll leave you two alone."
Y/n picks up her bag and stands up, pausing to kiss my cheek before heading out. My face burns, and I know Nya is smirking.
"Let me guess," she says. "You need help planning your date?"
I sigh. "Yeah... kinda."
She grins. "Come to Mama. She'll help you." She puts on an old granny accent, making me laugh as I flop down on her bed.
Y/n POV
I step into the living room and—
"Are you guys watching Frozen?"
The guys scream in panic as Lloyd scrambles to switch the movie.
"NO!!!"
"Pfft, that's for girls!"
"And kids! So dumb!"
Zane sighs. "Yes. We were."
The others facepalm.
I gasp. "WITHOUT ME?!?!"
I plop down between Lloyd and Cole, grabbing a bowl of chips. "Come on! Put it back on!"
They glance at each other before restarting the movie.
Kai POV
"So, where are you taking her?" Nya asks.
I hesitate. "I was thinking... a restaurant?"
She groans. "Ugh, boring! She wants something original! Something other than the typical fancy dinner."
"Original? Like... a video game night?"
"Original and romantic, Kai. Video games aren't romantic."
I think for a moment. Then, an idea hits me. "Wait... I got it!"
I tell her my plan.
Her eyes light up. "YES!!! That's perfect! See? You can be romantic!"
"What should I wear?" I ask.
"Something casual but nice. No tux."
She picks out an outfit for me, and I nod approvingly.
"You nervous?"
I sigh. "Yeah. I don't wanna mess this up. I really love her."
Nya pats my shoulder. "Three rules. One: Be yourself. Two: Don't act like a player. Three: Happy wife, happy life."
I raise an eyebrow. "Wife? Isn't that a bit far?"
She shrugs. "Hey, it's a saying."
I laugh. "Since when are you a love expert?"
She grins. "Since I watch a lot of rom-coms."
Y/n POV (Later)
I step into the living room, fully dressed.
Kai looks up.
"Whoa... you look beautiful."
I blush. "Thanks. You look good too."
Nya squeals. "PICTURE TIME!!!"
Kai wraps an arm around my waist as she snaps a photo.
"Have fun, you two!" Nya winks.
Kai smirks, taking my hand. "Let's go."
As we step outside, he leads me to his motorcycle.
"Hope you're not scared of bikes."
"Me? No! Never!" I reply, securing the helmet on my head before climbing onto the motorcycle behind Kai. He chuckles before revving up the engine.
I wrap my arms around his waist, feeling the cool breeze hit as we speed through the city. We ride for about fifteen minutes before reaching the beach. The sky is painted in hues of orange and pink, the sun setting over the waves.
I take off my helmet and smile. "This is perfect."
Kai hops off, helping me down before leaving our helmets by the bike. We walk towards the sand, hand in hand, the soft grains sinking beneath our feet.
As soon as we reach the water, I kick off my shoes, stepping into the cool ocean waves. "I really like it here." I smile, turning to him.
My gaze drifts to a blanket set up on the sand with a picnic basket beside it. I point at it. "What's that?"
Kai squeezes my hand. "You hungry?" He leads me toward the blanket, and we sit down across from each other.
I peek into the basket and gasp. "No way! You brought cookies and marshmallows?! My favorite!"
Kai grins. "I have my ways."
I narrow my eyes at him. "Nya told you, didn't she?"
He chuckles. "Yep."
I giggle, grabbing two cookies and stuffing a marshmallow between them to create my favorite dessert—a cookie s'more. Kai does the same, and soon, we're both laughing as we make a mess, sticky marshmallow covering our faces.
For a while, we just sit there, watching the waves crash onto the shore as the last of the sunset disappears over the horizon. The sand is warm beneath my toes, and I can feel Kai's body close to mine. The sound of the waves fills the peaceful silence.
I turn to look at him. "Kai, I love this. It's perfect. I love you."
He smiles, leaning in to kiss my lips, his hand gently resting on my waist. I lay back onto the blanket without breaking the kiss, and he moves on top of me. When he pulls away for air, his forehead rests against mine.
"I love you too, Y/n. More than anything."
Hearing those words makes my heart race, and I kiss him again, my arms wrapping around his neck. His lips move down to my jawline, then to my neck, placing soft kisses that send shivers down my spine.
Then—
A quiet moan escapes my lips.
Kai freezes for a second before smirking against my skin. He definitely heard that.
Before I can say anything, he sucks on the sensitive spot, making me moan again. He bites down slightly before pulling away, admiring his work.
"Did you just give me a hickey?!" I exclaim, giving him a mock glare.
Kai laughs. "Now people will know you're mine." He smirks, clearly proud of himself.
Okay, I have to admit—that was kind of cute.
I playfully push him off and climb on top of him, straddling his chest.
"What are you doing?" he asks, raising an eyebrow.
I simply smirk, reaching for the hem of his sweater and pulling it off.
Kai blinks. "Oh. I like where this is going."
I lean down, pressing soft kisses against his neck like he just did to me. When I find the spot that makes him let out a tiny moan, I smirk against his skin and kiss it again.
"I want everyone to know you're mine." I murmur before sucking on that spot, giving him a matching hickey.
Kai groans as I bite down slightly before pulling away, admiring the red mark on his neck. I glance up at his face—he looks both impressed and flustered.
And then—he pokes my belly.
"Hey! No tickling!" I yelp.
Kai chuckles and pokes me again.
I jump up and start running. "Nope! Not happening!"
I hear him laughing behind me before chasing after me.
"Princesse! Come back here!" he shouts.
I squeal as he catches up in seconds, lifting me into the air and spinning me around.
Still laughing, he gently lays me down on the sand and starts tickling me mercilessly.
"NO! St-stop! I hate being tickled!" I laugh uncontrollably, trying to wriggle away.
Kai grins. "I know. That's why I'm doing it!"
"It's not fair!" I shriek between laughs, squirming beneath him.
"What's the magic word?"
"PLEASE!!!"
He finally stops, grinning as I pant for breath, still giggling.
"Oh, you know you love it." He smirks.
I roll my eyes. "Yeah, no."
Kai laughs. "Aww, do you still love me?"
I pretend to think about it. "Hmmm... I'll think about it."
"Aww, come on!" He pouts.
"Say: Y/n is the best person in the world, and no one can compete with her. Not even her annoying boyfriend."
Kai snorts. "Haha, no."
I cross my arms and look away dramatically.
He sighs. "Okay, okay. Y/n is the best person in the world, and no one can compete with her... not even her annoying boyfriend."
I grin. "Thank you."
Kai chuckles and looks around. The sun is fully gone now, and the air is chillier.
"Wanna head home? I have another surprise for you." He winks.
I raise an eyebrow. "Okay, sure."
Kai helps me up, and we gather the blanket and picnic basket before heading back to his motorcycle.
He notices me shivering slightly. "You look cold. Want my jacket?"
"Aren't you gonna be cold then?"
Kai smirks, placing his jacket over my shoulders. "I'd do anything for you. And besides... the Master of Fire is never cold."
I roll my eyes but smile, putting on the helmet as we hop onto the bike.
-
We pull into the driveway, and I hop off the bike, shaking out my hair.
"We're back!" Kai calls out as he grabs my hand, leading me inside.
Instead of stopping in the living room, he takes me to his room.
The moment I step inside, my jaw drops.
A giant pillow and blanket fort stands in front of me.
Kai smirks. "Like it?"
I spin around to face him. "You made a pillow fort?!"
"Yep. Got the TV inside, blankets, snacks, and everything. Thought we could chill and watch a movie."
I grin and throw my arms around him. "I LOVE PILLOW FORTS!!!"
I crawl inside, immediately making myself comfortable in the sea of pillows. There's popcorn, candy, and a cozy blanket waiting.
Kai follows, sitting beside me and turning on the TV. "What do you wanna watch?"
"The Lion King."
Kai laughs. "Seriously?" But he puts it on anyway.
I grab the popcorn, snuggling into his side as he wraps an arm around me.
After a while, I feel myself getting sleepy, resting my head on his shoulder.
Kai POV
I glance down at Y/n, who's now asleep against me.
I smile, gently shifting to lay down with her, pulling the blanket over us.
Tonight was perfect.
I couldn't have asked for anything better.
Before closing my eyes, I whisper, "I love you, Y/n."
