Chapter 24 • You

"Weirdmageddon," I breathed, watching the only home I knew start to burn.  The triangle turned an unholy black, like he was filling up with ink, and flew down to the town square.  "The rift is shattered.  Bill's world is spilling into ours, and every minute his powers grow stronger."

"Mabel's in danger!  Why couldn't I catch up her when she ran?"  Dipper tried to sprint towed the forest, but Stanford caught the back of his shirt.

"Dipper. Listen to me. We can find your sister soon, but first we have to stop Bill. If we can blast him back through the rift he came out of, we just might be able to stop him before his weirdness spreads across the entire globe."

I scowled.  "The only way to do that is with a quantum destabilizer, and you broke yours when you went after Bill in the portal."

Stanford raised his eyebrows. "I can fix it, thank you very much. The only thing missing is a power source."

"I can take care of that part, just get it back in working order."

"Good. We might also want to step inside."

Dipper and I turned to see a terrifying wave of fuchsia fury barrel towards us like an out-of-control truck, destroying everything in sight. "Weirdness wave!"

We sprinted into the Shack and slammed the door. I grit my teeth to prepare for impact. One second passed, then two. I cautiously opened one eye to find the living room glow a bright blue, decorated with white symbols I didn't understand. "Wha-?!"

Dipper put his hand over his birthmark, like he couldn't believe what was happening. "The unicorn spell. It actually worked."

I looked down at the bloodied ends of my pure white sleeves, remembering the horror of that day. My insides boiled with fire, and not just from cancer. Of all the days to start the apocalypse, it had to be my wedding day. "That overdressed nacho is going to pay. Meet me in the bell tower of the church in fifteen minutes with your gun. It's time we showed Bill who's in charge around here."

One death ray later, we had all assembled in the top of the tower in our normal clothes.  Dipper had even found his pine tree hat, though it was scuffed up and was singed in places.  Stanford wordlessly set up the quantum destabilizer, aiming it right at the yellow triangle.  "This would be a great time to show us the power source, Y/N."

I rolled my eyes slightly but nodded.  Carefully, I opened up the main panel in my prosthetic hand to reveal a tangle of wires illuminated by a soft blue glow.  "I'm going to need some pliers."

Dipper handed over the tool, confused.  Holding my metallic limb steady on my knee, I pulled out it's power source: a sparking marble-sized orb of light.

"W-what is that?" Stanford asked, adjusting his thick glasses to get a better look.

"Pure NowUSeeitNowUDontium.  I couldn't make that name up if I tried. One of Fiddleford's parallel selves gave it to me a while back from the paradox dimension. Highly radioactive when concealed, but completely harmless when in sunlight. It'll be enough to give you one shot with the QD."

I held it out with my hand, ignoring how my other one clanked uselessly against my thigh without power. "Take it."

"Y-You want to give me the energy powering your hand?" He ran a hand through his steel grey hair. "I can't accept that, it's too much. We'll find another way-"

"There's no time, Stanford. Just a take it and shoot. Hit that demon right back where he came from."

Stanford looked like he wanted to argue more, but quietly took the tiny bright ball. He placed it in the center of the gun, humming as the electricity flowed through the machine. Squinting, he aimed the triangle-shaped scope at Bill. "This is for ruining my wedding, you unholy triangle." He pulled the trigger-

"WHOOHOO, I'M ALIVE NOW!" The possessed bell yodeled.

"Gah!" Stanford's shot went wide, grazing the top of Bill's hat but not inflicting any damage.

Bill turned around and narrowed his eye, his hat healing itself in the process. "Well, well, well, and here I thought today couldn't get any BETTER!"

A beam of white energy shot out of his finger, straight towards us. I hit the deck right as it hit, blowing the entire top off the steeple and trapping me in rubble. "Stanford!  Are you okay?!"  I screamed, ignoring the wreckage I was stuck in.

"I'm alright, but I can't let Bill have the journals!"  He slid his backpack over to Dipper, who hastily picked it up.  "Listen, I know of one other way to defeat Bill, it's-"  he stopped to hear an eerie noise play up from behind him, almost like a rising shepherd tone.  "Oh, no! Dipper! Run! Get down!"

He scrambled down the stairs as the demon rose up behind Stanford, casting the wreckage of the bell tower to be engulfed in shadow.  "Good old six-fingers. I've been waiting an ETERNITY to have a chat face to face!"

I could only watch with wide eyes as he was surrounded by a blood red light and lifted up into the air.  Terror was written on his face, but he stayed silent as Bill Cipher taunted him.  "Everyone, this armageddon wouldn't be possible without help from our friend here. Give him a six-fingered hand!"

Although I couldn't see from my spot in the rubble, I heard his band of nightmares give an enthusiastic round of applause.  I felt sick to my stomach, knowing he was just warming up with his threats.  "This brainiac is the one who built the portal in the first place!  He couldn't do it without help from Glasses, though.  Where's your little girlfriend anyways, Fordsie?"

Oh, crap.

Stanford clenched his jaw but didn't say a word.

"The silent treatment, eh?  No matter, she's right around... here."

Horrified, my own outline turned scarlet as I rose into the air, feeling weightless as I floated with eye level to Bill.

"LEAVE HER OUT OF THIS, BILL!"

The dream demon gave him a coy glare, and if he had a mouth, he'd be smirking.  "Now don't look so sour, Sixer. It's not too late for you two to join me. With that extra finger and missing hand, you'd fit right in with my freaks.  It'll finally be a place where you belong..."

My heart stopped.  For a psychopath, Bill really knew how to play on our needs.  Stanford looked conflicted, but lifted his head to glare daggers at Bill.  "I'll die before I join you! I know your weakness!"

The dream demon seemed almost bored.  "Oh, yeah? And I know a riddle. Why did the old man do this?"  He mimed claw hands.

"This?"  He copied Bill's pose.

ZAP! The triangle shot a beam of energy at him, sucking the life out of him and turning him into a statue of gold.  His face was frozen mid-scream.

"Because I needed a new backscratcher!"  He casually picked up the figurine and used it to scratch an awkward spot on his back.

"HOW DARE YOU!" I shouted, ignoring how it made my lungs burn.

He raised a nonexistent eyebrow.  "Oh don't think I'm leaving you out of the fun, Glasses."  Bill casually shot another ray of electricity at me, turning my legs lifeless and metallic.  "I've always said you two were the golden couple." he said as the gold covered my face, making me lose consciousness.
