Prompt- "Were you ever going to tell me?"
Eliza didn't know what to do, she couldn't think her brain felt fuzzy. She was staring down at the little pink lines that indicated she was indeed pregnant. She knew who the father was but she didn't know if he would be happy. Her relationship with him was, well in simple terms, it was complicated. They were best friends and she cared about him more than anything in this world but they were also 'fuck buddy's' (as he so elegantly put it) and Eliza was sure he didn't have any true romantic feelings towards her. The man in question was the one and only Alexander Hamilton, notorious playboy and everyone's favorite sarcastic ass.
She loved Alexander but he was known to be a player, and she really couldn't see him wanting settle down, especially when he could have someone as beautiful and sexy as Maria, or even someone as fun and sweet as John, or basically anyone, so why would he settle for her? She knew she wasn't good enough, she knew she couldn't possibly be good enough.
"Eliza?!" She heard Alexander call as he walked in, he'd come over because he thought she was sick because she'd been throwing up a lot lately.
"I'm in the bathroom, I'll be there in a minute..!" She replied, about a second later hearing the door handle rattle.
'God he had no idea what personal space?!' She though as she quickly threw away the test truth to make herself look more decent before Alexander came in.
"Are you Okay?" He asked rushing to her side, looking at her with concern in his eyes.
"I'll be okay..." she replied in a soft voice as he pulled her into a hug.
"I'm sorry you're sick Betsey..." he whispered, kissing her cheek. "Come on, lets get you to bed..."
"Okay.." Eliza replied starting to pull away form the hug but was surprised when Alexander picked her up. "Alex..." she groaned before adding, "Why?"
"Because you're sick you shouldn't have to do anything except rest and get better.." he replied carrying her to her bedroom, which was next to the bathroom.
"You're annoying." She told him and he chuckled shaking his head.
"I'm just trying to take care of you, plus you know you love me." He said with a smile as he set her down on her bed.
"Mmm." Was all She replied with because the truth was she really did love him, more more than he knew.
"Plus you knew I was coming and I told you I'm going to do everything in my power to make you feel better." He said getting in the bed pulling her into his arms.
"Now what are doing?" She questioned trying to sound annoyed even though she loved his cuddles.
"Cuddles, It'll help you feel better." He told her gently rubbing her side.
"And how will this help? I could get you sick." She said knowing full well that she could not get him sick.
"One, cuddles help everything, you told me that." He said kissing her cheek. "And two, I don't care if I get sick, it'll be worth it."
Rolled her eyes but couldn't help the small smile that formed on her lips. "Fine, can we watch a movie then?"
"Of course." He told her picking up the remote and turning on the tv. "What are we watching then?" He asked her.
"Hmmmm.." She hummed while she thought. "Breakfast At Tiffany's."
"Ughhhh but that movie's soooo boring.." Alexander complained.
"Hey, you asked me and I told you, now put it on, please.." Eliza said holding out the 'please' especially long.
"Fine, Fine, I'll put it on, but only because you're sick." he said as he searched up the film, pushing the play button once he'd found it.
Eliza smiled to herself as she focused on the movie now playing on her television screen, not letting her mind wonder elsewhere. She knew at some point she would have to tell Alexander about her being pregnant, but, for now she just wanted to enjoy this time with him. She figured after she told him about being pregnant with his child their friendship would be effectively over, so she wanted to soak up the last moments she had with him before that was gone. And as time passed Eliza drifted off into a peaceful slumber.
Alexander smiled at this, placing a gentle kiss to her forehead before carefully getting out of her bed. He had an idea, he'd seen how sick she was the past few days, Eliza had been throwing up so much and she was so tired, and he felt terrible that he wasn't able to make her feel better honestly Alexander loved her more than he'd ever loved anyone before. She was like a ray of sunshine in his dark world. The problem was he was terrible at expressing his emotions properly, at least in speech. In writing he was brilliant, but then he had time to think over each word carefully, on the fly words were much harder.
Alexander's plan was he would not only clean up her apartment, as it was a complete mess at the moment. But he was also going to make her some soup and tea that she'll be able to enjoy whilst in bed. He personally thought it was a great plan, and was hoping that Eliza would love it just as much as he thought she would.
Alexander started with cleaning because that would take longest and he wouldn't want the food to get cold as he cleaned up her apartment. He slowly got through the trash and old term papers that were scattered across her floor, sorting everything the best he possibly could. Then the bathroom, which was the biggest mess, not only because she was sick but also because this where Eliza's hamper was. Lets just say clothes didn't seem to make it into the basket very often.
So he started with the clothes, picking them all up, putting them in hamper, bringing them to the laundry room. Then organizing the rest of the shit in there, then the garbage, that's when he saw something. Something that made his heart simultaneously stop and speed up.
"Eliza!" He called entering her room with conviction. "Elizabeth Schuyler!"
"Wha- what's up Alex..?" She asked waking up with a start. "Why are you yelling?"
"Why- why am I yelling? Ha, that is, that just hilarious." He said with a fake laugh. "I mean wow, you should be a comedian."
"What are you talking about?" She asked somehow even more confused.
"How could this happen? I thought we were friends, we were supposed to be friends- right? Because that was the impression I was under."
"What? Of course we are, what's wrong with you right now?" She asked slowly getting out of her bed.
"This!" He pulled out the pregnancy test. "You're pregnant and you didn't tell me! I'm your friend, we don't keep secrets! Or-or at least that what I thought that's how our relationship was."
Eliza was immediately taken aback, he knew, she was going to tell him but now he knew and he was mad. The exact reaction she was afraid of, she couldn't help but think, 'this is why I didn't tell you.'
"I.. I didn't know what to say- I thought you'd hate me."
"I could never hate you- I fuckin' hate whoever knocked you up." He told her. "So who this guy, this worthless son of bitch?"
"Alex... you are..."
"I'm the- what now?"
"According to you, you're the 'worthless son of a B' that knocked me up."
This time Alexander looked hurt, truly and utterly cut to the core. Eliza knee this was a mistake, she should've gotten an abortion like Angelica said, Alexander already looked like he hated her and she could barely handle it, how would she deal with a baby?
"Were you ever going to tell me? Or were you just gonna wait until I notice the large ass bump? Or maybe you were waiting for the actual baby to show up before I ever got to be in on the little secret."
"I was going to tell you- I just didn't know how... I know you don't like settling down, I just thought- thought that if I told you, I'd lose you..."
"Lose me?" He asked. The look he gave her was priceless and if Eliza hadn't been so emotional she would've laughed. "You could never."
"How could I know that? A girl asked you to be her boyfriend once and you laughed at her." She said with a frown. "I didn't want that to happen to me..."
"Eliza..."
"I know, we're best friends, but still.... that means I know you, and you like... 'getting it'... and besides John was your friend too, and now you don't even talk anymore"
"But you're different from him, or anyone."
"How? How can I be different from all the other notches on your bedpost?"
"Because you're the one that stole my heart, you are the only person I want to spend all my time with... you're my everything and that, that will never change."

So kind of ends on a 'cliffhanger', but, I didn't know how else to end it. So this is what we're left with. Also I haven't posted on this in a loooooooooong time- sorry about that. I think it's because I've been so hard on myself about only doing prompts I haven't felt any creativity when it comes to this book. So I am hoping to post more on here but you might not see some prompts for a bit.
Anyways, as always I hope you enjoyed and until next time have a wonderful morning/ afternoon/ evening!
