When Eliza was a little girl she was always told to have faith, as her mother said, 'believe in the lord and he shall bring upon you truth and justice.'

So Eliza did as she was told she 'had faith', her whole life she had faith in love and hope. Though most of all she had faith that her god would bring upon her truth and justice. It had never been difficult for her to live like this, especially when living in such a religious home. This kind of faith was like second nature, to her it was as easy as breathing in and out.

Today Eliza still had faith, though a lot of her world had been torn right through. Heart ache wasn't something unfamiliar anymore, but she still had faith. Her husband had been adulterous, she still had faith in love and truth. Her son had died in a duel, but she still had faith in justice. Somehow after these heart breaks she'd managed to keep hold of faith and love through it all.

Even her husband was surprised, he knew Eliza like no one else, yet he was still a bit, Well very surprised that she forgave him. Though the both needed it, losing a child does something to you, she needed more support then, she needed support from him.

Now the two were sitting outside in the backyard leaning against one another, as they watched their children run and play. Eliza sighed softly, carefully intertwining her fingers with her husbands. As they day went on, so did they. Eliza made dinner with the help of Alexander and Alexander jr.

The dinner wasn't quiet like it used to be, the children were loud and cheered happily as they ate. Eliza smiled a small gentle smile as she watched her family, Alexander sitting right next to her as he usually did. After everything Alexander usually spent his time next to Eliza, or working.

As the day came to a close, Alexander went to his office to work and Eliza one by one put each one of their children to bed. She smiled just so as she looked over her sleeping children, kissing her youngest on the forehead before heading to her husbands office.

"Alexander... come to bed please." She said softly, he looked up and nodded, before everything he would have stayed in his office. He would've told her not to wait up, he would have told her he'd be there soon but usually not end up in bed at all.

He slowly pulled his glasses off, setting them down carefully on his desk. He had just read Burrs last letter to him and let out a deep sigh as he thought about what he knew what was going to take place.

"Alexander...?" Eliza questioned coming behind him setting her hand softly on his shoulder. "Is there something the matter?"

Alexander flipped over the letter pushing it aside as he said, "no, there's not a thing wrong dear." He gave her a wary smile. She could see right through it, but she was too tired to push him on a subject she was sure at the time would mean nothing.

"Are we heading to bed then?" He asked to which Eliza nodded.

"Yes." She replied, enjoying the fact that she got to be held by her husband as she slept. Alexander nodded as he slowly stood from his desk, making his way to their bedroom with Eliza.

The two silently got ready for bed as usual, Eliza took longer than Alexander, so by the time she got into bed Alexander was already there.

She carefully climbed into bed, pulling the duvet over the both of them comfortably, as Alexander wrapped his arms around her waist. He held his wife close to him, his eyes shutting taking in her scent. He knew this would be the last time he would hold her like this, and he was planning on savouring every last moment with his wife.

As the wee hours of the morning came, Eliza felt herself waking, and her eyebrows furrowed as she noticed Alexander absence. She sighed lightly as she lit a small lamp and slowly made her way to Alexander's office.

"Alexander?" She questioned. "Come back to bed..." she said softly walking over to him at his desk.

"I have an early meeting today." He told her focusing on the words he was writing on the paper at his desk.

"Can you not reschedule?" She inquired only wishing for her husband to come to bed.

"I'm afraid not love." He told her. "I'll be back before you wake."

"Well I'm going back to bed.." she told him with a small sigh starting to walk away.

"Hey." He started taking her hand before she could get to far. She turned to look at him raising her eyebrow. "Best of woman, best of wives." He told her his voice soft as he brought her hand to his lips pressing a soft kiss to her hand.
She smiled softly as she made her way back to their bedroom.

Though what she didn't know then was that a few hours later a knock would come at the door, a loud, hurried knock. She got out of bed, putting her rob on and hurried to the door.

"Hello, yes?" She asked looking at the strange man in front of her.

"Mrs. Hamilton?" He questioned.

"Yes?"

"Come with me, quickly." He said his voice urgent.

"Why-what's going on?"

"It's your husband." He answered simply, that's all it took and Eliza was out the house.

Once they got to wherever he'd been leading her, he showed her to a dimly lit room, where her husband lay on a small cot. She could see how weak he was, and she knew then what was going on. Her heart started pounding as tears welled in her eyes.

"Alexander!" She ran to his side taking his hands as she looked at his face, his eyes meeting hers.

"Betsey..." he whispered a small, feeble smile appearing on his face.

"Al-al-Alexander, please... don't die.. I can't lose you... please, I need you." She stuttered out as a tear fell down her cheek and Alexander shook his head as best he could.

"You never needed me Eliza... You're strong... I'm the one that needed you.." he whispered in calm weak voice, as if he knew what was coming and had made his peace with it already.

"Pl-please.." She choked out.

"I'll see you in the other side... I promise you will." He told her. "But promise one thing."

"Alexander...."

"Please... Eliza.. Betsey... promise me something."

"Anything.." she whispered.

"Take your time coming to me... have faith.. that the wait will be worth it..." and with his last ounce of strength he kissed her hand one last time.

Yeeeeeeeeesh, I'm not sure how I feel about it- but I usually don't love my writing.

Okay, and if you read my other book I am trying to get that finished as soon as I can, but I'm just having trouble with it right now.

And I hope you have an absolutely wonderful morning/afternoon/evening!
