Optional Ending Part #2
Angelica. I... I choose Angelica.
He started walking away from his grave. He then traveled out into the cool night air and began his journey. He had no clue if wether she still lived in the house he was traveling to. He had no idea if she still wanted him. And he had no idea if he would still love her.
He chose Angelica, because it was still new love, and there hadn't been anything meaningful yet. He could start his life fresh! A new man. A changed man. He walked through the night until he arrived at Angelica's.
He knocked on Angelica's door. No one answered. He knocked again. Still no reply. He tried to move the handle but the door was locked. He went around to the back and tried that door. He even tried to open the windows. He sat down in defeat. He was all alone.
He silently cried as he walked slowly back to his grave. When he arrived, he was surprised to find a figure standing in front of his grave.
"Me, I loved him. Me..."
She started to cry.
" I loved him. I loved him! I LOVED HIM!" Hamilton stood still, afraid to startle the woman.
"My sister was so foolish! So selfish! So cruel! She knew I loved him. I loved him first."
Hamilton realized Angelica was at his grave. She placed a rose atop his grave and started to leave.
"Wait! Angelica!" Hamilton reached out, pulling Angelico's closer.
Angelica whipped around, and at the sight of Hamilton, fainted.
Hamilton carried Angelica home. He set her down her doorstep and accidentally jolted her awake. Her eyes widened.
"Are you real?"
"Yes." He took her hand and kissed it.
She started to smile as Hamilton helped her up.
"How did you come back? Did you ever even die?"
"I'm not sure what happened either," replied Hamilton. "It was confusing to me too, but I'm here now."
Angelica led him inside and they talked all night. They laughed together. The sun was starting to rise, and they curled up next to each other. Angelica asked, "Why did you choose me? You could have chosen Eliza. Or Maria. Or no one. Why did you come to me?"
Hamilton paused. " I decided that I needed a fresh start. I needed to choose a safer life, in one that I wouldn't need to worry about dying. I was afraid if I went to anyone else they wouldn't accept me. I would be forced back into that life, and I don't want that. I was hoping you would understand."
She smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "I love you for who you are, not who you were. And if there is something you want to become, I support you in that too."
They stayed in silence holding hands, Hamilton spooning Angelica. And Hamilton quietly fell asleep, finally at peace.
