Theater Reaction
Laurens and Hamilton waited for what felt like hours, both talking quietly between one another, watching as people passed through their room- some they were completely unfamiliar with. What had originally been shocking, had grown to be familiar, seeing people from all sorts of backgrounds, and all different eras pass by.
When the door opened again, Skeeter stood there, the same smile on their face. They took a step in, signalling both men to stand. When the two were on their feet, they were lead into an adjacent room and lead down a corridor. Soon, they were greeted by a large entrance, leading into a theater room. Both Laurens and Alexander stared in amazement at the grand designs that was laid out before them. Beautiful craftsmanship with the support beams, each holding a beautiful, marble look. The stage itself was perfectly centered, the seating below it filled to where it would align perfectly.
Laurens took a few steps further, taking the sights in completely. Instead of lanterns as a main light source, it seemed something more had taken their place and allured a more welcoming aura. It was fascinating to everyone in the room. Even Skeeter found themselves adorned in the appearance.
"Take a seat. I'm going to gather a few more people." They spoke. Hamilton and Laurens raced to the middle section seats, choosing two that allowed them to be seated side-by-side. Hamilton laughed a bit, looking to Laurens. "This is nice... I hadn't quite expected something this grand..."
"Trust me, neither did I." Laurens whispered, eyes tracing the room again and again. "This looks better than what most royalty would have. This was crafted perfectly- there's not a mistake in alignment or anything! It's as if a god touched it and created it themselves. I'm entirely awestruck." The blonde explained, carding a hand through his hair.
Above them, in the theater box just off to the right, a figure sat. Laurens caught sight, and stared for a long second, catching sight of a crown. His brow furrowed, and he nudged Hamilton. "Is that... The King?"
Hamilton glanced over, seeing the figure staring back down on them. "I think so," he muttered, eyes adjusting to the dimmer lighting. "It is!" There was some form of entertainment in his voice. "I'll be damned."
The King, however, offered them a wave and a polite smile before turning his attention back to the stage. Through the doors walked various more people. Hamilton smiled seeing Phillip, Eliza, Angelica, and Margarita joining behind he and John. Lafayette took a seat beside of Hamilton, acting giddy as ever.
He turned to them, and smiled widely. "Bonsoir!"
"Marquis," Laurens greeted, looking to the Frenchman. "How are you?"
"Oh, absolutely intrigued, believe me! The design, the eloquence, it feels almost as if I'm still considered nobility. What a show this is bound to put forth!"
Hamilton smiled a bit, chuckling. "Oui, Marquis. I'm certain there is bound to be some form of show to behold. I mean, this is a theater after all... Unless that 'Mosquito' fella... what did he say his name was?"
"Skeeter," Laurens corrected.
"Skeeter, right. Unless they had something else planned."
Marquis nodded. He was always quite optimistic and happy in life. If he felt threatened though, he'd be a blood thirsty monster in seconds. One aspect that everyone seemed to enjoy about the Frenchman- it was impossible for him to not make friends, but he wouldn't take shit from anybody.
Shot once, and continued fighting until retreat was called. He was one hell of a leader- and just admirable all together.
Hamilton smiled, glancing to see who else had been brought into the theater. He caught sight of Aaron Burr, Theodosia Burr, and Theodosia Burr Jr. They were sitting to the farthest left. In the middle, former General Charles Lee sat. It was hard to miss the snarky expression on his face and the cold, dead glare in his eyes. Now, Hamilton recalled, he could see why the Natives called Lee, "Boiling River." His eyes were almost as dark as his hair, and his personality just as stormy. Beside him sat General George Washington, who seemed to disregard the man. Along side those two, sat various other generals (Greene, Knox, Howe, Cornwallis, Montgomery, and various others). Hamilton's brows furrowed. How could Generals of different militaries sit peacefully between one another? Self control, perhaps.
On the stage, Skeeter now called the attention of everyone. As the theater began to quieten, Skeeter seemed to count if he got everyone, only to excuse himself moments later. After a moment, they had brought in a male, who looked relatively older than most of the others in the room. Hamilton had seen him once before, but he couldn't recall from where. Though, he was seated closer to the front.
Hamilton stared further, looking for someone in particular. When he spotted the Irishman, he grinned. Mulligan was here too, sitting just behind Burr and his family.
"Now! I believe I have everyone I wanted in here right now..." Skeeter announced, looking over a paper. The people stared, and then looked between one another. Skeeter began checking names off with a quill, and froze, looking back out to the crowd, muttering names to themself, as if debating if they should bring someone in. But they shook their head, looking back to the list. "I feel someone's missing... Or perhaps I was expecting more..."
There were multiple confused mutters, but Skeeter rose their hands into the air, calling everyone to attention. "So, I realized why I was expecting more... But they will not be joining us until later. Right now, the things I will be having you all react to would be a musical performance... Based around Mr. Hamilton's life."
Skeeter signaled to the Caribbean man, and Hamilton froze, a soft smile etching onto his face. He looked to Laurens, excited. "About me-?" He whispered.
John nodded, placing a hand on top of Hamilton's. "You deserve it... You did many great things."
Skeeter cleared their throat again. "There are various historical inaccuracies, some I will be glad to point out and correct... So, please. Do not feel too upset by what is said in this musical piece. I wish for everyone to remain calm. You are allowed to commentate, but do not cause a disturbance. And do not start fighting."
There was a mutter of understanding, or some nods.
"Alright... Thank you all for understanding... I would have a live performance, though, unfortunately, I can not provide that... But, with modern technology, I can show you it regardless. So kick back and enjoy Act One of Hamilton: The American Musical!!"
Hamilton's stomach fluttered as a giant scroll unraveled before them, and light was cast from a nearby booth. And from around, he could hear the introduction.
"Hello everyone, this is your king, George the Third." What a way to start. "And Welcome, to "my" show!"
