I Can't Wait To See You Again (Theoburr Angst)

Requested by xAddisonx4123   I don't know if this was what you had in mind but hope you like it anyways!

Anyway, some Theoburr angst. With little Theodosia.

To clear up any potential confusion, Theodosia is Theodosia Sr. and Theo is Theodosia Jr.

~Third Person POV~

Theodosia whispered to Aaron, "I love you. Embrace our daughter for me."

Aaron squeezed his wife's hand gently. He hoped for the best. She had been diagnosed with cancer a while ago, but things were looking up. Theodosia was allowed to occasionally go home to spend time with their daughter, the light of their lives, Theo Jr. Right now, he was visiting her in the hospital.

But as he looked down into his lap, an alarm went off.

He jerked his head up. "You okay?"

Theodosia's eyes were closed. Her chest was no longer rising and falling. The heart monitor flattened.

Aaron jumped up and hit the emergency button. A doctor and a few nurses came in. Aaron was escorted out to the waiting room. He was panicking nonstop for about ten minutes until one of the doctors came and brought him to a private room.

"I'm very sorry, Mr.Burr. She has passed."

Aaron was frozen for a good while. What will he tell Theo?

All he could do was nod, his throat unable to make any noise. Silently he drove home, where Eliza Hamilton had brought her son Philip over with her to babysit Theo when Aaron made his frequent visits.

Aaron and Eliza used to be enemies in middle school, but Theodosia, who was Eliza's best friend, had reconciled the two.

And Theodosia was gone.

Tentatively, he knocked. Eliza opened it, smiled, and went to call Theo, but before she could say anything, Aaron laid a gentle hand on her arm.

"Maybe," he rasped. "It would be better for us to talk privately?"

Eliza's face filled with worry and fear and sympathy, all taken over with sadness as she understood the situation.

Aaron led her up to his office and locked the door.

"She's not..." Eliza stuttered, "is she?"

"She's been recalled to her Creator," Aaron said sadly.

Eliza buried her face in her arms as she started to cry. She quickly wiped her tears.

"I shouldn't be the one crying," she said. "You... I know this is a dumb question, but are you okay?"

Aaron drew in a shaky breath. "I-I can't..."

Eliza suddenly threw her arms around Aaron as they both sobbed together.

Eliza struggled for her words. "You'll be fine."

They pulled away from their embrace.

"Well, lets honor her by not being enemies again," Aaron suggested.

Eliza nodded. Aaron lifted her hand up in and kissed it formally.

Eliza laughed and swatted him playfully. "Now don't try anything funny. I'm married already."

Aaron wiped his last tears. "I wouldn't dream of it."

Eliza smiled for a second, but it was immediately killed by a look of grief.

"I'll get going now, if you don't mind."

They returned downstairs, and Philip said his goodbyes to Theo.

"Daddy! Daddy!" Theo shrieked, jumping into her father's arms. "Where's mommy?"

Aaron fought the tears forming again. "She's not here yet," he said. He couldn't bring himself to say the truth. He had to strengthen himself first.

Later he tucked Theo in for bed. She smiled in her sleep, her hair fanned out around her smiling face.

She looked so much like her mother. A bit too much.

Aaron went back to the room he and his wife used to share. Her stuff was still scattered everywhere. Her engagement ring was on the nightstand.

He picked it up and clutched it to his chest. Then Aaron sobbed. He didn't stop until he felt as if he had no tears left to cry.

Theodosia he thought. I can't wait to see you again.
