So this is for johnlaurensmom 's writing contest and GO READ HER BOOKS THEY'RE SO GOOD AND THE ART TOO AHHH !!
Prompt: Since Angelica's fate was actually never revealed after Eliza threw her into the sea and escaped, here's this :)
Eliza took a deep breath and punched the numbers into the pay phone.
brring brring... bring brring
"Hello, this is Angelica Schuyler speaking, how may I help you?"
"Angie!" Eliza exclaimed, "It's good to hear your voice, I've missed you so much!"
"I've missed you too, Lizzy. How are you faring?"
"Angelica," Eliza paused as she braced herself, "I'm sailing off to France at New York Harbor soon and I just wanted to let you know..."
"Okay."
Angelica's brisque reply concerned Eliza.
"Okay? I thought th-"
"Eliza, you know damn well that you're a grown woman and I have no control over your decisions," Angelica chuckled, "You're steadfast, independent, and strong, everything that I ever could've wanted for you. All I have to say is that you stay safe and out of trouble, alright?"
Eliza internally snorted at that. Staying safe while some of NYPD's top enforcement squads were hunting them down? Only Angie would request something as absurd as that, tenderly smiling as she moved to end the call.
"Alright. Angie, I'll call y-" Eliza abruptly stopped as she faintly heard Maria's agitated calls.
Eliza took a sharp inhale as she hastily spoke, "Angelica, I have to go now," promptly slamming the phone down and sprinting away.
"Eliza? Eliza, are you here?" Angelica's voice rose in shrill octaves as the line cut.
As soon as Angelica abandoned her attempts to contact Eliza, she dropped her head with a thud on the table. Her phone call with Eliza left her mind reeling with questions- Eliza's vague replies and slight hesitations between answers left Angelica suspicious of her true motives.
She hadn't called in the prior weeks, leaving Angelica distressed over her sister's fate and keen for any news on Eliza's whereabouts, and what had seemed to be a normal phone call had been cut short with Eliza's rapid departure.
A sudden realization jolted Angelica to her feet as she rushed to her cabinet files. She frantically thumbed through the thick manila folders until she reached 'L-P' yanking out two files and plopping them down on her desk.
She hastily flipped opened a file, hissing in pain as the paper sliced through her skin. Angelica skimmed through the first one-
Lafayette, de Marquis: Incriminated for attacking tycoon Philip Schuyler during a failed interrogation; assisted by fellow gang affiliate, Hercules Mulligan. Extra years added to initial sentence due to illegal drug abuse.
That was all the information Angelica needed. She slammed the folder down, eyes seething with rage. Her teeth ground against each other as she boiled with contempt and the realization that Eliza was in league with the vile hooligans that had attacked their father. What was left of Angelica's collected composure shattered at the thought of her younger sister being hurt or fatally injured.
Angelica couldn't bear to lose another sister. Not after what happened last time with Peggy. Peggy, the carefree, innocent ray of sunshine was murdered during her escapade to protect those vulgar criminals, when she could've lived a long and fulfilling life. Peggy's premature death left the entire Schuyler family divided, and Angelica had vowed to protect Eliza, stopping at nothing to keep her remaining sister safe.
The loss of yet another sister would tear the already devastated family apart. Angelica felt tears pricking the corners of her eyes and a wave of sadness rush over her. Quickly recomposing herself, she choked back the sobs threatening to erupt from her throat and dabbed at her eyes.A fresh wave of numbness washed over Angelica as she dialed a number, clutching the phone like a lifeline.
The line crackled to life as a drowsy voice replied, "Yes?"
"This is Angelica Schuyler requesting backup at New York Harbor. Anonymous intel reports that the wanted criminals from King's Correctional Facility are escaping. Pursue them immediately and don't let any escape, at all costs."

Angelica's thrashing limbs began to succumb to weariness as she began to accept her fate. She let the waves wash over her body, all her energy spent. She was falling, falling into the deep, dark abyss. She welcomed the dull throbbing in her ears. She welcomed the salty sting in her eyes. She welcomed the acidic burning in her lungs. She welcomed her inevitable death with open arms. A small smile graced Angelica's weary features as she relaxed under the icy caress of the waves, and let her eyes settle for the last time.
Eliza, my dear, take your time.
Peggy... I'm with you now on the other side.
