The Aftermath [Hamilton x Burr]
Whoops, it took absolutely forever, but here's a continuation of the last oneshot~
Just a quick note though, the last oneshot was my first time writing about these people seriously, so if anyone is very OOC then it's because I suck and don't have any practice with them.

Sitting in the bar beside his long time rival, Burr had no idea how to feel about his recent discovery. It felt so wrong, Hamilton was another man, and not to mention, a huge jerk that he couldn't stand. Yet here he was, sitting next to him and getting a drink, as friends would... though friends usually didn't duel.
"I still can't believe you endorsed Jefferson over me." Burr muttered, still salty.
"Maybe I wouldn't have if you had any opinions." Hamilton shot back.
"I do have opinions." Burr said, "I have the opinion that you're an ass."
"Fair enough." Hamilton shrugged, taking a swig of his drink. "Y'know, Burr, you gave me a weird look when you were about to shoot me. What was that about?"
Burr felt a small panic rising inside him, but he pushed it down. He doesn't have to know anything. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"That sounded way too forced to be the truth." Hamilton casually swung his arm around Burr's shoulder. "Are you hiding something?" He asked with a slight teasing tone.
Burr tried to force away the fluttering feeling in his chest at the sudden contact, but that was impossible. Instead, he focused on not blushing. "I guess I realized I couldn't kill you, that's all."
"Huh. Why's that? Don't you hate me?" Hamilton asked, sounding genuinely confused. "You said it yourself, I'm an ass."
"I did want you dead, but actually doing it is different." Burr replied, reluctantly pushing him away. "I'm not a murderer."
"That's understandable." Hamilton shrugged and ordered another drink, before turning back to Burr. "About settling our differences, Aaron, how do you plan to do that?"
"How about you don't spread any more lies about me, Alexander?" Burr suggested.
"The people have a right to know-"
"The truth." Burr cut him off. "Find any dirt on me if you can, talk shit about me, but no more lies."
Hamilton let out a small sigh. "Alright, alright. No lies."
Burr felt satisfied that he didn't argue the fact he had indeed spread lies, he was getting some progress. "Good, exactly what I wanted to hear."
"Is that it then?" Hamilton asked, "Have we settled this?"
"Not yet." Burr responded, shaking his head. "I want you to apologize, like I asked before all of this."
"I won't apologize for sharing my opinion." Hamilton stated, bringing a rising frustration to Burr.
"Fine, not that, but the lies are something you should apologize for. You've slandered me." Burr said, crossing his arms.
Burr didn't miss the immigrant's eye roll before he talked, now speaking in a mockingly formal tone. "Alright, you're right, that was wrong of me. I should stick to destroying your reputation with only facts and the truth. Lying isn't something I'm proud of, and I will do my best not to do it again. I deeply apologize for the harm that has been caused by false statements to the public vision of Aaron Burr." Hamilton paused, flashing Burr a small smile. "Would publishing something like that suffice?"
"It would be more than enough, and knowing you, it'll probably be much longer than even that." Burr chuckled, his built up frustration seeming to fade away.
"Good, I'm glad to be done with this without any blood being spilled." Hamilton said, before stretching his hand out to Burr. "I publish an apology, and we're even. Deal?"
"Deal." Burr took his hand, and the moment their skin touched, he felt a surge of electricity flow through his body. However, it wasn't bad, and Burr even found himself liking it. He shook the other man's hand before they released each other, and strangely, Burr found himself disappointed at the loss of contact.
"You feeling alright?" Burr was brought back to reality to the sound of Hamilton's voice, that perfect sounding voice- No stop that's gay. "Your face is all red."
"I'm fine. Nothing's wrong." Burr spoke all too quickly, unaware of his intense blushing.
"Really now? Weren't you just telling me not to lie?" Hamilton leaned closer. "Because to me, it looks like you're being a bit of a hypocrite, Aaron."
"I-I'm not...!" Goddammit Burr why did you have to stutter? Burr mentally slapped himself, then kept staring at Hamilton, who was almost unbearably close.
Hamilton chuckled a bit. "You're acting just like a girl who's fallen for me. I'd know, it happens often." Burr's eyes darted to the side and he stayed quiet. "Have you fallen too, Burr? Huh, I didn't know my charms worked so well."
Hamilton only backed up when the bartender gave them a strange look, and Burr was thankful for it. He didn't think he'd be found out so quickly and he kind of wished Hamilton had shot him instead.
"I have no idea what you're talking about-" Burr was cut short by Hamilton leaning in once more and doing something he never would've expected. Hamilton kissed him on the cheek.
The short and sweet gesture was enough to turn Burr to mush. He was blushing more than he thought was humanly possible, and found himself unable to form words. All he could do was stare at Hamilton's amused expression.
"Well, it was nice talking to you Burr. I'm sure we'll see each other again soon, but I gotta get back to Eliza and the kids." Hamilton got up from his seat, speaking casually as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. "I'll write you up an apology tonight, you'll see it soon."
Burr was still too shocked to form the words for a response, and before turning around to leave, Hamilton winked at him. That bastard...
