Aaron Burr- Family (c)

Although your husband Aaron claimed that Alexander was his friend, the expressions that he made whenever Alex spoke made you think otherwise. Alex was very self-assured and didn't let anyone doubt it, rather made an argument about everything even if he was wrong, allowing himself to win every disagreement through annoyance of the opposing party. Today was another of those days. Alex had come to visit, and he and Aaron had spent a lot of time arguing over something political until your husband was left blue in the face and wishing to rip off the man's head but trying to keep a false smile upon his face.

You knew what this meant. Aaron was too polite to say anything uncouth to him even though you feared how unsavoury the words that he wanted to say to him, so that meant you would have to get rid of him. At least recently you had a good excuse. Your swollen middle gave you reason to wish to rest, and soon when there was a baby, they would make a valued excuse too.

"My apologies Alexander," You smiled politely. "It is getting rather late and I do need to rest."

He didn't seem to want to leave but gave a polite goodbye before taking himself out of your house. You and your husband let out a relieved sigh, glad to have your peace and quiet back.

"You need to not let that man get to you Aaron," you said softly as he placed himself in the seat beside you on the sofa, moving one arm to your shoulders and the other hand to your stomach.

"I do try, my love. He is just insufferable," he sighed.

You leaned in to press your lips to his cheek. You knew he meant well with his friendship with Alex, but it was slowly destroying his soul and that tore at you too.

"That he is. At least he has left for now."

He gave you a grateful smile before rubbing his hand gently across your stomach, a loving expression curling upon his face.

"I cannot wait until our child is here," he whispered.

"Neither can I. It will be nice to be able to sleep instead of being woken up every five minutes due to them fidgeting so much," you laughed. "Although I doubt, they will let us sleep then either."

"At least then I can tend to the child's needs at night, not just you."

You smiled at him, leaning in again but this time to kiss his lips.

"Once we truly are a family, everything shall be fine."

"I do hope so."
