Chapter 12
Hey guys! Sorry for not updating in so long! In this chapter, all the football stuff may not make sense, because I stupidly chose a sport I know nothing about. And also, I do realize that King George was not the General for Great Britain in the war. It was a man named Lord Cornwallis. I had Principal King hire a high school student to help coach them. Coach Cornwallis. Haha. Anyway, enjoy!!!
Herc's POV:
"Alex, you're never available on Saturdays! We want to go to a restaurant, or the mall with the Schuylers, or just hang out!" Here huffed.
"I know, Herc, but with babysitting, football, debate club, and homework, I have barely any time. And it's Christmas season. Just be with your family or something." Alex retorted.
Herc rolled his eyes. "Dude, it's December 16." He knew Alex was very busy. Eliza and Angie invited him to go upstate for Christmas break, but he denied because he had too much work. But the teacher hadn't even given them any homework over the holidays.....
Aaron walked in, holding hands with his new girlfriend, Theodosia. She had the same name as Aaron's sister.
"Hi Herc. I didn't expect to see you here." Aaron said.
"Well this is Central Park. My go-to hang out place. Alex! Get over here!" Herc said, yelling over at Alex who was talking with Nathaniel Pendleton.
"Herc! Aaron! There are some guys over there who are on Great Britain Academy's football team! They're talking about our upcoming game at Yorktown!" Alex said, running over to them.
"I'll spy on them." Herc said, stepping forward. He jogged over to where the students on the opposing football team were standing, and hid behind a tree.
"Cornwallis wants us to do the play he discussed. Go long. QB will pass to me, you'll be going long. I'll pass to you, and since your the fastest runner on the team, you'll be far away from the Americans. When you catch the ball, go for it. We'll win for sure."
Herc nodded as he listened. When he was sure he got all the info he needed, he stealthily made his way back to Aaron and Alex.
He told the entire plan, while Aaron wrote it down.
"Haha yes!" Alex said. "We can definitely beat them. You know, Lafayette can intercept really well. Aaron, you're fast. And Herc, you can throw farther than anyone I've ever seen. So when John is running, you can- AAH!" Alex jumped back.
"What?" Herc said.
"That!" Alex said, pointing at the snowflakes that we're starting to fall.
"Alex....that's snow." Aaron said.
"Well I've never felt it! Only heard about it. It's wet. And cold." Alex said.
"You've never seen snow before?" Aaron chuckled.
Herc could barely keep in his laughter. "Alex is from Nevis. He's never experienced a New York winter."
Aaron and Herc erupted into laughter as Alex tried to bat away the snowflakes.
"I'm going home. I don't like snow." Alex said, brushing snow off his nose.
"BAHAHA! Bye Alex!" Herc said, tears in his eyes.
Aaron and Herc rolled around on the frozen grass, laughing. They had many new students at America Academy every year, and a lot of them had never seen snow, like Alex. The New York kids always found it funny to see how they'd react to snow.
James M.'s POV:
James scrambled through the halls. He didn't want to be late to class on his last day before break. As he pushed past the students, he didn't see Angie stop right in front of him.
"Ow!" Angie said, stumbling over. She dropped all of her supplies.
James was about to apologize and help her pick up he books, but he remembered what Thomas had said. Don't be nice, just be better than everyone. That's how you get popular. James was already popular before Thomas moved to New York from France, but when Thomas picked James to be his best friend, James's popularity skyrocketed.
"Next time don't get in my way." James said, kicking Angie's science textbook across the hall. It pained him to do that. Angie was really nice. But if he wanted to be popular and stay Thomas's best friend, he had to act like him.
"What a jerk. You used to be so nice." Angie said, crawling to get her book.
"Look." James said. "I'm actually really sorry. But Thomas is bullying me into being this way." James picked up her supplies for her. "Once again, I'm sorry. Now let's get to class."
"Oh good. I thought you actually changed. And, it's okay. But I think you should consider doing what you want instead of what Thomas wants. Don't let him control you." Angie said, walking to class.
"Yeah. Okay." James said, watching Angie walk to class. Maybe he liked her. He wasn't sure.
RRRRRIING!!
"Shoot!" James said, sprinting down the hall.
Hmm. Is there something going on between Angie and James? Keep reading to find out.
