Well, Alex and Eliza are a cannon couple, cannon meaning they actually have romantic interaction on stage. AND they went through a lot of things but ultimately pulled through. Even after Alexander died, Eliza stayed devoted to him and fought for his legacy and did a lot of things that she thought he would have done if he had more time.  What could be more sure signs of devotion to a partner than that?
