West POV

I looked into the faces of all the women until Maria spoke up again, "thank you for saving our village from those bandits, they took our guards by surprise and our golem was being repaired", so, they do have a defence force of some sorts, I then decided to speak up with a question that's been troubling me since I arrived at this village.

"Where are the men ?" I asked, "they were all killed by a disease about 5 months ago and from some fighting with the other factions" said one of the women at the back, "where did you come from ?, its like you just came from the sky" said the same woman, "well, miss..." I say, implying that I don't know her name, "it's Veronica" she said, she wore white rope and had long blonde hair that went from the back of her head, over her right shoulder and stopped just next to her chest, I smile.

"well, miss Veronica, you won't believe me, but your previous statement kind of answered your question" I say, still keeping the smile, they were all shocked, "you came on a crashing star, those that shot by last night, I... I made a wish that someone would come to protect our village, some of the others went to a mountain, because one of the stars crashed on the top of it" said Maria, I just stood up, "those "stars" were parts of my ship, the UNSC Summer, I'm the only one to survive the explosion, the Covenant that chased us here and destroyed my ship went through the wormhole before it disappeared, I managed to use a damaged Dropship to land instead of the gravity fall, it would not have killed me but the ship would have supplies, the thing that fell to the planets surface would survive the fall, those crate could contain huge amounts of weapons and ammunition, but you wouldn't find a suit like mine, only Spartans wear this advanced armour and I was the only Spartan on that ship" I say, I place my helmet on and walked outside, "please, come back tomorrow" said Maria, "ok, but stay clear of the field over there" I say and pointed to a small cleaning.

I walked to the side of the building and jet packed to the roof, I wave and run to a tree top, then turn on my active camo awaited, Maria and the rest of the girls were looking at the tree, then I jumped to another and headed back to the Pelican.

As I am a Spartan, I don't need sleep as much as a normal human, or even eat to do more, as I can use a little to achieve more then any human being can, as Spartans, we have been genetically modified to hit harder, move faster and think quicker, our bones are so strong that it is like they are made of steel.

I work on the rear thruster and found some debris from the ship and been lodged in to the side, snapping some of the wires, I have fixed it with the spare wiring in the emergency lockers and got ready to fly, "come on" I say to myself and turn on the engines, it was about midday and I flew low over the wood lands, I landed the ship on the field, there was also a crowd on the other side, watching and waiting for me.

I opened the rear door and stepped off the ship, I didn't have any weapons on me but my sword and knife, as well as my Magnum, "are you lot ok ?" I asked, everyone just stared at the Pelican, "you came back, we thought you lied" said Veronica, "sorry I was late, I had to fix up this flying bucket, and I seemed to have got it working again" I say.

"HEY, YOU !!" a rather enraged voice shouted, I saw a woman with an axe in hand walk towards me, "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE PLAYING AT ?! WHAT IS THAT MONSTROSITY ?" she shouted, I step back and reach for the handle of my knife, just keeping it sheathed but holding on to it incase ill be needing it, "that thing is a Pelican Dropship, ma'am, and I was here last night and saved the village before everyone got executed by bandits" I say, I a calm and low toned voice.

She was wearing a dark brown rode with ginger or amber hair, in the same way as Veronica but with the pony tail split in two, going over both shoulders before joining in the middle of her chest, I decided I would not harm her when Maria said "don't hurt her", she swang the axe, I dodged it and turned on active camo till I got behind her, in one movement, I turned off my camo, grabbed the axe off her and had my arm around her throat, but stayed behind her, "LET GO OF ME YOU FIEND !" This woman demanded.

"ok, seriously, I'm not going to let you go until you calmed down, I have merely disarmed you, please don't take this any further than this, I would rather like to not use anymore precautions to ensure my safety with minimal casualties" I said calmly.

she struggled for a while before she finally gave in, "I'm sorry about Amber, she is a fighter but she wanted to fight those bandits but had gone up the mountain to see the crashed star, she is a good person, really" said Maria, I sighed and let go of Amber, "it's ok, no real damage done, I'm sorry for what ever I have done, miss Amber" I say, she looks down at the ground, her expression had changed and her voice was unrecognizably calm, I wouldn't have recognized her as the one who was shouting and swinging an axe at me only mere moments ago. "I am so sorry for being like that, please forgive me for my behaviour, I just wanted t..." I interrupted Amber, "there is no need to explain yourself, you have apologized and we should leave it at that, life is too short and too complicated for these things" I say, I got a smile from Amber and I turned back to the crowd, "this is my Pelican Dropship, it is very cool looking, but you mustn't touch it, it can fly and maybe fast but please, leave it be" I say .

As the crowd starts to disappear, Veronica came up to me with Maria and Amber, and a couple of others, "do you have any other clothes or do you always wear your armour ?" Veronica asked, "no, I am always in my armour, I can't take it off, I need a special suit fitter to take the armour off, I have worn this armour for 783 days and counting" I say, then removed my helmet.

Amber, and the other two behind her, eyes widened in surprise, "what ?, did you think that helmet was my face or something ?" I asked with a sly smile, "he's a cutie" I heard the girls behind Amber whisper. "thanks for the compliment, and you are ?" I asked the now two blushing girls, both looked about 20, one with a black apron and a monocle, the other in a pink robe, "i-I'm Julie, the blacksmith and this is Alice, the librarian, thanks again for saving our friends, but the reason I'm here I because were found something on the mountain, our golem managed to bring it back but we don't know what it is"
