Chapter 4
Ann noticed something different about Khovu. She blinked a bit in surprise as he was fading away. Even though her mind knew she couldn't stop that, she tried saving him anyways. As expected, he faded away completely.
Though another figure formed; it was her father. Anger filled her whole body as a smirk formed on his lips.
"You really think that you could escape me daughter? Do you really think you could escape those memories by being with that monster? Don't you remember what his kind did to us?"
She could only manage to mouth him the words. Anger showed on her face as she also thought, He's not a monster father. He wasn't the one who killed mother. He wasn't the one that fought and attacked us. He wasn't the one that found me in my hiding place, and scare me when I was only 8. Please dad, not all Elites are bad. Though I know how you feel. I was cautious when I first me Khovu. I thought he was going to be one of THEM.
"I bet he'll lead you into a trap. He wants you to think he's good, when in reality, he IS like them. They all are, Ann. Why can't you see that?"
Ann snapped back angrily. She wasn't planning on letting her father bring her down again. She was sick and tired of him of judging. She wondered why he couldn't try to trust Khovu. She knew it would be hard, but her father didn't even try. She knew it was because of that incident from years ago. She didn't blame him either, since she might've thought the same. She just hoped that someday he would change his mind.
"Why can't you trust me for once? I'm not a little girl anymore, dad. I know you wish mom was still here. I do too. But we can't change that. As hard as it is, we gotta move on from everything that had happened on that terrible day. It'll make you feel better, I promise. She sighed a bit, calmly. At least try to respect my decision. Please?
Ann looked at her dad for along time. He had fell silent. After her mother's death, Ann's father didn't marry for some time until he found another woman; she was someone they hadn't expected. She didn't like Ann, and Ann didn't mind since she shared the same feelings back. Her stepmom's personality changed her family from a caring, happy family to a angry, negative family.
Ann thought she some some regret in her father's eyes; which before she could, he faded as she started waking up from her dream.
