Chapter 1
"Ann Barr! You come back here this instant young lady!"
Ann heard her father yell as her and Khovu were getting away from him as fast as possible. Apparently her parents and siblings wanted to move closer to where Ann and Khovu were living. Which they didn't live together, though kind of close from each other.
When her father found out she was dating a Elite, he was furious. That's why they were escaping him now.
Ann yelled back as she faced her father finally, "Why do I need to?" She asked with no hint of fear in her voice. It was only anger and frustration.
Her father came up to her and slapped her cheek. His face was burning red from anger, "Because I said so! You broke the rules that you were taught to follow since birth! Have you learned nothing of what we taught?!"
She rubbed her face a bit, glaring back at her father. "I HAVE learned. But those rules take ones freedom away! Why are you so afraid of trying new things that 'aren't the rules we follow.'? Huh? What's wrong with trying new things, huh? You tell me to respect you when you don't even respect my decisions or me in general."
"This is my life! You can't force me into a life that I wasn't supposed to be!" Her anger rose as her frustration grew more and more. Her father never understood her. He wanted respect but treated Ann like she never even gave him any.
"You know exactly why I do this! You know the rules girl! You're betraying our kind by dating this freak!" Pointed to Khovu who just stayed calm, but by Ann's side.
"He's not a freak dad!" Ann said holding back her pain. Most Elites were good by this time. "I am starting to think that you are. You don't care about anyone but yourself. I hate you so much that I wish I never was born into this family. You, mom, and even Brenda, and Nathan have all gone against me.
"I thought I could trust you all. But I was wrong. All you all ever do is bring pain, and I'm tired of living that life. I want to start my own now."
Khovu saw in her eyes that if this kept going, it wouldn't be good. He spoke calmly, looking at her and gently taking her hand. "Let us leave, Ann." Before he could say more, her dad spoke up.
"Fine then! LEAVE!! And I never want to see any of your worthless faces again! You are the worst daughter I have ever had! You are an idiot, a disgrace, un-respectful, a traitor, you're ungrateful-" He went on and on as the couple left.
Ann sighed hearing the words she heard a lot from her family. She remembered those words from her past.
Khovu looked at her as he gently brought her closer, letting her head rest on him. His whispered quietly and softly with a caring voice in her ear, "Do not listen to him my love. You are nothing of what he says. You are more than that."
She gave him a small smile, feeling a bit better.
"Let us head back to my home. So you do not have to worry about your father."
She nodded, "Sounds great. Thank you so much. I love you."
"I love you too."
They gently kissed each other, then went to his place.
