The Drive Home -- Not Really Dead Prompt

The rain poured in gallons over the truck. His football gear hit the sides of the truck bed with a clunk. The roads were slick as ice and his house was another hour away at least. The skies got darker and Abe turned up the radio jamming out to the music to try and help his nerves. He was singing along when he looked back to the road and swerved before getting back on the road breathes harsh and panicked. The image of the teen male burned in his mind.

"You're just tired Abe." He chuckled breathing deeply tapping on the radio on his dashboard as it began to fuzz out and rolled his eyes deciding to pull over, take a breath and plug in his phone. After his break he moved back onto the road taking a deep breath and smiling.

"There, see? Nothing to worry about."

He continued the quiet drive but he kept feeling like he was being watched, he came around a mountain pass bend on the last mile to his home. The rain was slowing to a silvery drizzle and he smiled as moonlight filtered through the storm clouds striking the figure of a person on the road.

A teen male again and this time he could see his face.

"Avery?" He whispered, eyes wide before the wheel yanked to the cliff side and he screamed as he hit the railings everything turning dark and blurred as he looked over Avery sat in the passenger's seat. He flicked a lighter on, and off, on, and off.

"I thought you were dead." Abe croaked and Avery grinned though his jaw hung to one side, broken and battered in a sickening way.

"I am dead Abe, you and your stupid football friends ran over me after that party, remember that?"

"I swear I didn't see you!" Abe coughed feeling pain in his chest.

"I may be dead Abe, but you're about to join me." His sickening grin widened and he dropped the lighter in a puddle of leaking gasoline.
