"Come on wimp it's not like there are still people living in there."
"Well there might be." Thomas argued back.
"What do you not understand about an abandoned hospital?"
"Are you seriously that scared?"
"Come on you beat up that ninth grader a few days ago."
The group went into an uproar of conversation. People talked over one another to assure Louis that this place was safe. Louis was the youngest in the group, only being fifteen. I myself was only seventeen, so I guess he has a right to be slightly scared. Besides the place did look creepy, but I was not scared. Nothing scares me, but boy was I wrong.
Louis eventually agreed to go, but as we climbed the fence he hesitated. Never the less, he climbed over the fence. The chain link fence shook against the bushes that prevented us from climbing down it. As we got to the top we all lost our balance crashing down into the thorn bushes. Screams of agony burst through the still air. We desperately crawled out of the bush and fell on our stomachs and backs.
"Let's not do that again. "Madison the second oldest boy said. We all murmured an agreement. I stared at the freshly cut grass, perfectly green and crisp.
"Guys, the grass." I exclaimed pushed off my stomach to my feet.
"It's grass Mikey, did you fall head first?" Madison chuckled. He looked to be the least in pain at the moment besides me.
"No. Look at it," I demanded. He glanced at the grass before closing his eyes.
"What about it?'
"It's freshly cut, and watered. The ground is wet; it hasn't rained in a week." I deadpanned. His eyes shot open, and he quickly sat up. He winced in pain, but still examined the grass.
"What the..." He whispered. The other boys were sat up by now starring at the ground.
"I told you guys this place wasn't abandoned." Louis whispered-shouted.
"Guys. It's probably just a guy who's paid to mow the lawn. I heard they're thinking of tearing this place down and building a mall." Vinny, the eldest stated. He ran a hand through his long brown hair. It was short underneath, but long at the top. The new look. He came over to my side and squeezed my shoulder. I gave him a quick smile. His brown eyes bored into the side of my face as I starred up at the cloudless midnight sky. It seemed as if all the stars in the universe could be seen tonight. Vinny, Madison, Nick, and Thomas all started to saunter over towards the front of the mansion like prison. I looked over at Louis to see him taking a few steps away from the route the others were headed. I walked in front of him and took him in an embrace. He quickly hugged back burring his head into my chest. Because of the height difference I rested my chin on his head.
"It will be fine Lou. As long as you're by my side everything will be fine." I whispered to him. He nodded his head and stepped away from me. I grabbed his small hand and we jogged to catch up to the group.
"Bout time." Thomas sarcastically shouted back to us. I shook my head and smiled. Louis and I stayed near the back of the group holding each other's hand. I never thought I'd miss his small fragile hand so much.
We neared the front doors. It was originally white, but now rusted and scraped. Madison pushed on the door, but to no avail it stayed shut.
"Locked, damn." He muttered more to himself than us. He led us to a different section with a door that stood ajar. The door was barely on its hinges. This door like the last was white, but had mold growing on it. I walked into the building first with the others trailing behind me. The hallway stretched to the left and right; however, the hallway curved slightly in a croissant shape making it impossible to see the end. No windows were in sight, broken light bulbs hung every few meters, the brown tile floor broken and some missing. There was a draft coming from every direction, chilling us to the bone.
"Which way?" I asked, hugging myself.
"Left." Louis muttered, grabbing my cold hand with his warm one while I still hugged my own body. The group said no words, but started down the left hall. I slowed my pace with Louis to look at everyone. Nick was leading the way, using his new IPhone seven to shed some light down the dark, rickety hallway. He wore plaid, dark blue jeans, and his black converses. The light from the phone shined off of his jet black quaffed hair. He was definitely more old school than most kids now a day. Madison was a step behind him; he always wanted to be the first to see what will happen. No one really complained to him seeing as he would probably make sure we get what we want. He also wore dark blue jeans, but with a superman shirt, and bright orange runners. He continuously would run a hand through his curly light brown hair whenever he wasn't sure of a situation. Jason and Vinny walked side by side, shoulders brushing. Jason was much shorter than Vinny as he only came up to his shoulders. Jason wore contacts today in case there was any action that would take place today. He wore a plain blue shirt, grey basketball shorts, and white runners. On the other hand, Vinny dressed quite warmly. He wore black sweatpants, a beige sweatshirt, and black toms. He was always the lazy type of style.
BANG
We all froze.
"W-was that a do-or sl-amming shut?" Thomas stuttered. He stood in between Jason, Vinny, Louis, and I.
"Come on it was just the breeze, this place is old anyways." Madison said fearlessly. He acts brave for the sake of others. I wish he wouldn't act this way, but he does. He carried on with the rest of us reluctantly following. As we walked down the curved hall a bit more an old wooden door was on the right side of the hall. Shut closed. We all gathered around it, no words being shared. I stepped forward, letting my hand rest on the rusted metal handle. I waited a moment to see if anyone would stop me, but seeing as no one would I swung the door open. I stared in shock with the sight before me. I stumbled forward letting the other boys view what was inside. Gasps all escaped their slightly parted lips, white puffs of air following the sound. As I continue to step towards the pile of burnt bodies blood soon starts to soak my red shoes. The smell of rotting bodies floated in the air making it almost impossible to stay in the room. There must have been thirty bodies piled into the empty small room. A giant window looked out into a mini garden surrounded by four walls of the building, but that's not what I was looking at. It was who was in the garden.
"Yuck. Who would just leave this here?" Vinny muttered loud enough for everyone to hear.
He smiled up at me.
"These guys must have had a horrible virus to end up like this." Madison laughed. A clap sound could be heard right after, which I'm guessing someone high fived him.
He waved.
"Hey I'm learning about viruses and bacteria in science." Louis stated happily, I was surprised he did not seem scared.
He mouthed some words to me.
"Did you know that Viruses are actually dead? Therefore, to infect someone they need a host cell which is basically any cell in your body that's weak." Jason the know it all guy stated while walking towards the window slowly.
"How does that work?" Louis asked. I guess he just started the unit.
"You see after the virus finds a host cell it attaches itself to the cell and inject its DNA. The cell's DNA gets destroyed, so the new virus DNA can take over. The cell will then begin to make more virus body parts which will soon start to assemble the body parts together. Once this is done there are a bunch of viruses living in this one cell, so they will then lyse out of the cell."
"What does lyse mean?" Louis questioned.
"To burst out; this cycle is called the Lytic Cycle. There is another cycle; moreover, it's called the Lysogenic cycle. It's like the Lytic cycle but instead of destroying the DNA it binds with it. Once it does that the cell divides evenly, then the normal cycle begins. Fun fact, did you know that viruses are much smaller than bacteria." Jason stated as he stood next to me. However, he wasn't looking outside of the window.
Will you come play Hide and Seek with me?
"Jeez how do you know all of this stuff?"
"I'm a year older than you Louis, I still remember this stuff."
"Alright then, want to explain how viruses are different from bacteria so I don't have to research it?" Louis laughed carelessly.
"Bacteria are alive unlike viruses. They multiply from two- 5000 billion in one day. The one thing that they have in common is that bacteria and viruses are micro-organisms, but as your teacher may call them 'Pathogens'. Pathogens will enter your body by cuts, foods, and when you breathe. The reason why we don't get constantly sick is because our body will immediately recognize the foreign invaders. This is why we have white blood cells, or what scientists call Lymphocytes. Our body produces one billion white blood cells per day. Crazy how fast the body works huh? Now, there are three types of cells that help protect us from these viruses. There are the Killer T cells, B cell, and Macrophages. However, these cells can't always get rid of all the viruses, so we turn to vaccines. Although, I'm more than sure you all know what vaccines are." Jason chuckled.
"EW, I wish bacteria and viruses never existed." Louis made the side comment more to himself, but Jason still heard him.
"Actually some bacteria are good for us. You see bacteria lives inside us. For example, they help our digestive systems by releasing toxins into our body. Also did you know that viruses and bacteria live EVERYWHERE! In the air, in water, in-"Jason was quickly cut off from his rambling.
"Shut up Jason, no one cares." Louis chuckled at Vinny's response. We were a tight group so we could make jokes like these and not take them seriously. He stood beside me, and I casted him a glance quickly before looking back out into the garden.
He was gone. He was there a split second ago, how can he be gone?
"Hey there's a garden in here. Let's see what else is in this dump of a hospital." Jason jumped over the bodies and the group left the room. I stood starring at the spot the man was. Sitting on the fountain, holding a knife, a frown painted on his face, but now the seat was empty.
"Hey Mikey you okay?" Louis came up to me and grabbed my hand. I stayed silent for a moment.
"Yeah, let's catch up to the others." I breathlessly said. We turned and jogged to the others.
Chapter 2
Louis's POV:
After searching endless rooms filled with dead bodies, some with only beds in them, we reached the center of the hospital. We pushed open the cafeteria doors, the hinges squealing. The room was massive, run down, and smelled like rotten food. We split up, and walked around the room surveying it. Mikey stuck with me, our hands still clinging to one another.
"I wonder how long this place has been abandoned." I mindlessly started up some conversation to break the eerie silence.
"It has to be over a decade now...... I mean look at the place it's beaten and torn." Mikey quickly replied.
"What were you staring at before? In the first room we went in. It looked like you saw a ghost."
"I think I might have..... I saw someone, but right as a glanced at Jason for a second he was gone, like he was never there." He explained in a hushed voice, careful not to let the other boys hear."
"Maybe you're just seeing things..." I suggested. Suddenly, a deep booming voice echoed across the whole room.
"Hhhm a ghost, maybe? An illusion, no. But I can say this, I'm your friend from here on out." The mysterious voice said. We looked around for the source of the voice, but the room was empty besides us. We all gathered in the middle, confusion and fear clear on our faces.
"Okay which one of you guys did that." Madison deadpanned. Everyone stayed silent. Madison huffed and looked away from us.
"It was me." Everyone whipped their heads in the direction of the voice. Sat on a wooden table was the man. He was dressed as a clown. A puffy yellow suit with rainbow dots covered all of his skin besides his face. He wore classic big red shoes, a red nose, and orange coloured hair. However, unlike most clowns he had a frown painted upon his face, and when he smiled at us he had pointed yellow teeth. We all stared in horror. This man looked terrifying, and we did not want to find out if his looks matched his personality. We all dashed to the door, jumping over tables, chairs, anything that got in our way. We knew this was a mistake coming here.
"Ah-ah-ah children. This is not how we play Hide and Seek." The man said in a slow sadistic voice. Suddenly, all the lights flashed on, blinding us. When we could manage to slightly see we discovered five more clowns surrounding us. They were all laughing. We were in a heap load of trouble.
Vinny's POV:
I looked around frantically for something to protect myself with, but nothing was in immediate reach. I started to back up until I hit one of the other boys. We huddled in a tight group; our heavy breathing could faintly be heard over their sinister laughs.
"Ple-ease don't h-hurt us." Thomas begged. They just seemed to laugh more.
"Nuh-uh. The game is just about to start. I think we need to quiet these boys up, what do you think?" A clown dressed in all green and a jealous look painted on his face spoke loudly. I started to shake in fear. What did he mean by that? I couldn't help wonder. They started to close in on us, their hands reaching out towards us. That's when everything went dark.
Mikey's POV:
My lips ached. So did my wrists. There was a cold breeze like I was outside. I opened my eyes slowly to see everyone tied up in chairs, lips stitched shut. Some were still asleep, but most of them were wide eyed awake. There were a few people I didn't recognize. There were three people wearing masks. One of them had jet black hair, dressing in a suit, and a fox mask. He stared back at me. The next guy also wore a suit, but was chubby, had brown hair, and his mask was a rat. He stared at a girl across from him. The last one wore a bunny mask, all black clothes- skinny jeans, a tank top, and runners- and had her long brown hair in a high ponytail. She also stared at me. Averting my eyes to the other unknown people I noticed the girl across from me was the person the guy was staring at. She had waist long blonde hair, blue eyes, and wore a pink party dress. She was one of the last few people to still be asleep. Beside her was a tall, well-built boy. He looked to be six feet, with a wide build. He had short brown hair, green eyes, and beige shirt with green capris. He stared down at the girl with worry in his eyes. Before I could get a good look at any of the other people electricity started to run through my body. I tried to scream out in pain, but the stitches restricted me from doing so. After a good thirty seconds it stopped. I breathed heavily, my eyes closed.
"Wakey-wakey." The deep voice yelled. Slowly I opened my eyes to look at the clown. This one had a very cheerful look painted on his face. It was chilling to look at. Glancing around at the other people I saw that everyone was awake now. Guess they got shocked too.
"We're going to play a game." The jealous clown said. He stood beside me, a hand resting on the chair.
"First, we should introduce ourselves. I'm Josh the Sad." The clown with the painted frown said moving to the middle of the circle. The rest of the clowns moved to the middle as well.
"I'm Caspar the Jealous."
"Joe the Angry"
"Jack the Confused"
"Daniel the Tired"
"And I'm Chuckles the Happy. We're the clowns that shut down this hospital. We call ourselves the Disease. Now we're going to play a few rounds of Hide and Seek." Chuckles laughed mischievously. I gulped loudly. Each clown besides Chuckle started to go around to each person untying them while Chuckles explained the game.
"You will each get a weapon, and a piece of paper. The paper will either be blank or have the word MURDERER on it. You won't know who the murderer is or how many there is. When we say LIGHTS OUT the game starts. The murderer will have to seek for his victims and kill the person in less than eight seconds. Keep doing this until the lights come back on. Now the hiders. You will have to hide somewhere inside the hospital or in this garden. You want to try and not got murdered or you're out of the game. If you find a dead body you will be able to say 'I found a dead body.' The game will then reset. Note the murderer is allowed to say 'you're dead.' Try it out."
"I found a dead body." Everyone said at once. We were all standing now, but dared not to move. I knew it would be best to play this game if I wanted to survive. Out of nowhere a weapon appeared in front of everyone on the ground. My weapon was an ax. I picked it up carefully and examined it, while the Chuckles continued.
"Good job everyone, well done. Now you all have a different weapon. Your weapon will change every game, so don't get attached to it. Now who's ready to play?" All of the clowns started to lightly chuckle. Panic flooded my body. I wasn't ready for this. My eyes frantically searched for my friends, we had to stick together. A piece of paper magically appeared in my hand. I unfolded it to see it was blank. Relief flooded my body. I didn't have to kill anyone. I looked over at Louis who held a screw driver. He had a terrified look on his face as he stared down at the piece of paper. Oh no.
"LIGHTS OUT." And darkness found me again.
A second passed and I found myself in the middle of the cafeteria. I tried to slow my ragged breathing, as I tried to find a place to hide. I jumped over the counter which contained all sorts of spoiled food. I walked over to the mustard coloured door. Quickly pushing it open I was tackled to the ground. I stared wide eyed at the bunny mask. Blue eyes stared back at me. With her pinning me down to the ground the other two masked boys came out of the kitchen. The fox held a butcher's knife, and the rat held a shovel. They both stared down at us. I sneakily grabbed the ax that lay only a foot away from my hand, and swung my arm out of her grip. With my arm free I hit the ax into her shoulder. A muffled scream come from her, and the other two sprang into action. I pushed the girl into the two boys who were lunging at me, sending them flying backwards. I jumped on top of the girl and ripped the ax out. Blood splattered onto my face, and strangely bugs started crawling out of the huge gash on her shoulder. Dashing away I ran out of the cafeteria into the hall. I started jogging down the hall with no destination in mind.
Is she infected? How did the bugs get into her body? Did the clowns do that?
These thoughts raced through my mind with countless more. I wasn't paying much attention to where I was going and tripped and landed in a pool of red liquid. I pushed myself onto my elbows and looked back to see a body. It the girl with long blonde hair, a puncture hole in her throat. Louis.... I knew this was my chance to reset the game, but I couldn't help but worry that I would be the next murderer. Louis is forced to kill people, do you really want that?
"I found a dead body." I said quietly in a quivering voice. The lights flashed on and I was back in the garden. The circle contained two less people. The Bunny Mask girl, and the blonde head girl. Did I kill her?
"That was a good first round. Now point to who you think was the murderer." Josh said. Glancing at the blood stained screw driver I pointed to Louis as everyone else pointed to who they thought they were the murderer.
"Good job Micheal. The murderer was Louis." Joe laughed angrily. "Next round starts...." Our weapons changed, and a piece of paper appeared in my hand. I put the pocket knife into my front pocket and looked at the paper.
Murderer
"Now. LIGHTS OUT." Crap.
Vinny's POV:
I was now in a library. It was small, worn out, and no people in sight. I was a murderer. I would be for every round now. I'm the infected. First it was the Bunny, now me. Tears started to slip from my eyes. I hid in a dark corner and waited for someone to hide in here. If you're the infected you have to lay low until you get the signal. I breathed in and out. I just had to wait.
Thomas's POV:
I walked quietly into the library. No one was in sight, so I rushed over to the front desk and hid. I laid the machete down beside me. Pulling frantically at the stupid rat mask. The last round I couldn't control my actions because the Joe guy decided I wouldn't be able to kill anyone. The mask didn't budge at all. No matter how painful it was I didn't stop trying. I yelped out in pain as a knife landed in my thigh. I pulled it out and jumped to my feet. I stared at Vinny's tear stained face. The expression unreadable. The mask stopped just above my mouth, so I shoved the pocket knife in my mouth. I cut the stitches, and opened my mouth. Blood dripped from my chin onto the red carpet.
"Vinny it's me, please don't hurt me." I begged Vinny as he picked up the machete. He just shook his head as a tear slipped from his right eye. He jumped at me shoving the long knife into my stomach. I coughed up blood, and dropped to my knees. The world slowly fading away.
Vinny's POV:
The lights came on and I looked around at everyone. Jason, Nick, Thomas, the rat mask, the bunny mask, and the blondie chick were missing. The tall built kid glared at Louis. The fox mask guy glared at Mikey. I knew this wouldn't end well.
"Hmmm this was definitely an interesting round. Let's continue." Daniel the tired said slowly. Our weapons changed, I got a kitchen knife. Then the paper came. I didn't read it, I knew it said Infected.
"LIGHTS OUT" Daniel yelled in a tired voice. It turned black.
Louis's POV:
I was in the room with all of the burnt bodies with the door shut closed. Clank. The noise startled me, and I whipped around. A boy stood there with a wrench. I pointed the knife at him as I backed away. The boy scrambled to pick up his weapon and scurried to the nearest corner. Slowly I lowered my knife. He had to be around the age of eight. I stared at the boy with curiosity. He pulled something out of his jean pocket and lit up his face. He did something with it before sliding it over to my feet. I picked up the old fashioned phone.
Are you the killer?
The screen read. I typed in my reply, and slide it back to him.
No. Are you?
No, who are you?
Louis, what about you?
Jackson.
Can I come over?
He motioned with his hand for me to come sit next to him.
Will you protect me from him?
Who?
Look at the ceiling.
I warily looked up to the ceiling. A lady with snow white skin, a bloody dress, sharp claws, and black eyes and hair crawled slowly towards us. I scrambled to my feet and pointed the knife at her. There was a tug on my shirt. I looked down to see Jackson holding the phone out to me. I read the dreadful message.
You should know better than to trust a kid. We are the murderers.
I dashed to the door throwing it open. I was not dying, not today. Right as I was in the hall a person from my right crashed into me. I looked up to see Madison. He quickly stood up and went into the room. The woman jumped onto Madison and started to claw at him. I watched in horror as his intestines and other organs were ripped out of his body. His head fell to the left facing me. I looked at the guilty look on his face. He sacrificed me.
"I found a dead body." The lights flashed on.
Louis's POV:
"It looks like we have ourselves some cheaters." Joe the angry fumed.
"And who's that Joe?" Jack the confused asked.
"Jackson and Vicky cheated. They didn't kill Louis in less than eight seconds." Chuckles laughed.
"We don't allow cheaters." Caspar the Jealous and Josh the sad sneaked up behind the two of them and slit their throats.
"Such a shame, but now you all know not to cheat in this game of Hide and Seek." Joe the Angry spat. Our weapons changed again, and I was greeted by the screw driver. I unfolded the paper to see it was blank. Here goes another round.
I was in a bedroom. It had a real bed, a closet, a desk, and a chair. The window shed moonlight into the room illuminating it. I rushed over to the closet and pushed apart the two wooden doors. A rack of clothes hung neatly, a few boxes on the floor, and a blood stain on the inside of the door. I hid behind the clothes and carefully closed the two doors. They were the kind where it was like blinds. You could hardly see out of it, and no one could see in. I sat on the ground and waited for what seemed like hours until the door slowly creeped open.
"............." A deep threatening voice spoke out slowly in the eerie silence. Every now and then you could hear the shuffle of his feet on the soft red carpet. The shuffling continued for a few minutes while he searched the room for me. I continuously stared at the small area outside of the closet on the ground, when the moonlight was suddenly covered by a shadow.
"Found you." The man laughed out. The door opened a crack before blood was splattered onto my face. An ax was imbedded into the man's head. The man starred up at me with black eyes, and his brown hair covered in blood. By the time the ax was removed from the man's head I was on my feet.
"I FOUND A DEAD BODY." I screamed on the top of my lungs. I stared at the man with the fox mask as he swung the ax at my head. Luckily before the ax hit me the lights came on.
"Tsk tsk, I thought there would be more bloodshed gentlemen." Daniel the Tired moaned. I looked at the remaining players. Vinny, Mikey, The Fox, and the tall kid were the only ones left.
"I think we need to cut down our numbers boys." Josh the Sad stated walking around.
"Pick a number between one and ten, and then hold up your fingers to the corresponding number. Simple." Chuckles bellowed.
"Go." We all quickly held up or fingers. Mikey held up three, Vinny one, The Fox eight, the tall kid nine, and I held up four fingers. The clowns then all walked around in a circle looking at every one of us carefully. It was like they were choosing who they were going to kill.
"Alright, we'll get to point a gun at your head, and however many fingers you're holding up will be how many times we shoot at you. Oh don't fret children only some of the guns are loaded with one bullet. This is just a....mini game." Chuckles laughed. Most of the clowns stopped in front of someone. The others went to the middle of the circle and stood in a line. Josh the Sad stood in front of Vinny, Caspar the Jealous stood in front of Mikey, Daniel the Tired stood in front of the Fox, Jack the Confused stood in front of the tall kid, and Joe the Angry stood in front of me. All at once the clowns pulled out all kinds of guns and pointed them at our heads. Talk about staring death in the face huh? I thought to myself.
"We will take turns. First Mikey. " Chuckles instructed. Caspar pulled the trigger three times, and Mikey still stood. I felt my body relax a bit, but the tension in the air still stood.
"Robert next." The Fox's head snapped up from staring at his feet. Daniel pulled the trigger once. Nothing happened. Twice. Three times. The fourth.
BANG
His body fell to the ground, blood pooling around him. Then the strangest thing happened. His skin had millions of little bulges moving around. Almost like bugs were crawling in his skin.
"Too bad, he was a great player. Gally." Jack pulled the trigger five times, and then lowered the gun to put a bullet in it. He brought the gun back up and pulled the trigger again. And again. And again. And again. Nine times. He was safe.
"Louis." Chuckles stared at me. It's just four times, you can do this. I breathed in and out slowly. Joe pulled the trigger.
Click. Two.
Click. Three.
BANG. My body fell to the ground. My head buzzed with pain, and it felt like a million bugs were crawling all over my skin licking my blood. My vision went red before turning to black.
Gally's POV:
I stared at the body. The poor guy looked about thirteen. Louis was his name? Now only one kid had to go. I hope he will make it. Josh the Sad lowered his gun.
"He is the infected, he can't be killed." And with that he walked to stand with the other clowns. All the players stared in confusion, as this Vinny kid just looked guilty. What did that mean? All the clowns picked up a weapon, and Chuckled started talking.
"Now this is the very last round, but now we're playing. Nine player's simple right? Well not really..... This time you do not get the option of restarting the game. You will not be able to talk at all during this game. Got it? Great, let's begin." A weapon appeared in one hand and a piece of paper in the other. I unfolded my paper to see the word I always dreaded.
Murderer.
I ran through the halls, trying to get away from the maniac laughter. One of the clowns was coming and I was not dealing with them yet. I made a quick right turn into a bedroom, and slightly closed the door. I crouched down behind the door and readied my knife. I listened as the laughter came closer and closer until it was right on the other side of the room. The clown stopped laughing, and started to open the door.
"Whhhheeere are yooouuuu?" Caspar said in a sing-song voice. Right as he came into view I pounced on him and stabbed him repeatedly. I didn't stop until his face was almost unrecognizable. Scrambling to my feet I walked out of the room and closed the door. One clown down, five more to go.......
Mikey's POV:
I stared down at the clown. His body was now in many pieces scattered across the room. Jack the Confused, yeah I may have done a bit of an over kill but I could not risk it. Joe the Angry body swung side to side from the ceiling fan in the cafeteria. The room across where I stood you could just see his feet, but it reassured me he was dead. I wiped the sweat off of my forehead, and quickly jogged away from the bloody scene. Two dead, four more to go.
Vinny's POV:
I ran down countless flights of stairs, skipping every other step. I ran a hand across the brick walls and the other on the metal rail. I turned a corner only to run into a tall figure. We crashed backwards onto the small platform. I opened my eyes to find a pair of green ones staring back at me. Gally quickly pushed himself off of me, and stood up. He offered me a hand and I gladly accepted it. Once we were standing we sort of just stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do. Gally pointed at the stitches on his mouth and then motioned to mine. He took his knife and cut the stitches, then carefully cut mine.
"Better." Gally exclaimed, sighing in relief.
"Are you the murderer?" I asked out of pure curiosity.
"Yeah, you?"
"I'm infected, which means I'm a killer no matter what." I explained in a rush.
"Is there someone chasing you or something mate?" He chuckled.
"No, I just want to get the heck out of here. Did you kill anyone yet?"
"Yeah, I killed Caspar. You?"
"Nobody yet. We should find Mikey and team up." I suggested my face lighting up.
"Yeah, let's head downstairs." And with that we fell into a silent saunter down the stairs.
Mikey's POV:
I crept down the corridor making sure I didn't make a sound. Unexpectedly, two figures came into view. I recognized one of the figures as Vinny. I sprinted down the hall to him tackling him in a hug.
"Hahaha Mikey." Vinny squealed. I stood up, pulling him with me.
"Hey, hand me the knife." Vinny demanded Gally. Quickly he handed him the knife, and Vinny cut my stitches.
"Thanks bud. Any idea where the rest of the clowns are?" I asked the two boys.
"Caspar, Joe, and Jack are dead, so that leaves three more. It's even now." Gally explained the situation. I guess he saw what I did to them......
"I wonder if that door we came through is still open....." I trailed off, starring at Vinny wide eyed.
"Of course, why didn't we think of that before?" Vinny muttered. We all looked at each other for a moment before we broke into a run heading for the door.
All three of us stood before the closed door. Nervous the door will not open. I glanced at the other two boys that stood on either side of me. I sighed and put my weight into the door. At first it wouldn't budge, but then suddenly flew open. I landed on the ground with a loud thud. Groaning in pain I stood up and started to walk to the fence, and the boys trailing behind me.
"I was sure the clowns would've stopped us by now..... Where are they?" Gally spoke his thoughts out loud.
"Looking for us?" The voices we never wanted to hear pierced the air like a knife. We all spun around on our heels to see the remaining three clowns leaned against the building. We were only a few meters away from them; we would never make it to the fence. Without thought I dashed back inside closing the door behind me.
I hope the boys will be okay for a little while.
Vinny's POV:
I was beyond pissed that Mikey just left us like that. I mean how could he? We have been best friends since we were little, he's unbelievable. My blood boiled, and disbelief was clear on my face. The clowns just chuckled in response to the situation.
"Looks like your 'friend' just ditched you guys." Josh said putting air quotes on 'friend'. I grabbed Gally's hand and dashed for the fence. We heard footsteps behind us, but all I was focused on was making it to the fence. The fence seemed to be miles away when in reality it was around a hundred yards away. We were halfway there when all of a sudden we heard of a scream. We halted in our steps, turned around, and stared at the scene. Even the clowns seemed shocked......
Mikey's POV:
I pulled the triplex wires more, and more. The screams made me more than guilty, but I had to save Vinny and Gally. I murdered too many people on one night, the night of Halloween. I don't want to know how long these stupid clowns have been doing this, but it's time to end it. My hands were now bleeding due to the sharp metal wire I pulled on. It was almost to the top.... Just a few...... More..... Pulls........ I tied the wire onto the roof top door handle, and then rushed over to see what if I accomplished my task. The body hanged from the wire. You could tell the wire was cutting through Daniel the Tired's neck, and that he would fall the thirty floors down. Blood dripped from his feet, and a small pool of blood could be seen on the ground below. As Daniel took one last gurgling breath, the wire cut his neck fully. His body started to free fall to the ground. As he hit the ground blood splattered everywhere. Never in my life would I imagine a human had that much blood in them, and never would I forget the sight and deed I just did. I looked over Vinny, Gally, and the last two clowns. Gally pinned one of them down, while Vinny slashed his throat. The last clown looked like Chuckles. He pulled a spear out of nowhere and threw it at Vinny.
"NO." I screamed out as I watching Vinny fall over, the spear going straight through his chest. Tears streaked down my cheeks as Gally killed Chuckles. I looked away. I couldn't watch anyone else gets murdered. I've seen too much in one night. After a few minutes I slowly stood up and made my way down the thirty floors. Gally waited by the door. He opened his arms when I was standing in front of him. I shook my head signaling that this wasn't the place for grieving. We walked out of the building and into the freezing night. I looked down at the blood that I stood in. My red shoes now ruined, but I didn't care for they looked the same as before. Gally nudged my shoulder and we walked to the fence, and back to civilization. When we told the police the story they didn't believe us. They thought that this was some idiotic Halloween prank. It was too late at night to try and convince them, so we went to Gally's flat. I borrowed some clothes from him, showered, and slept like I was dead. No one believed us, and no one would listen.
"Did you know that Viruses are actually dead? Therefore, to infect someone they need a host cell which is basically any cell in your body that's weak."
"How does that work?"
"What does lyse mean?"
"To burst out. This cycle is called the Lytic Cycle. There is another cycle; moreover, it's called the Lysogenic cycle. It's like the Lytic cycle but instead of destroying the DNA it binds with it. Once it does that the cell divides evenly, then the normal cycle begins. Fun fact, did you know that viruses are much smaller than bacteria."
"Jeez how do you know all of this stuff?"
"I'm a year older than you Louis, I still remember this stuff."
"Alright then, want to explain how viruses are different from bacteria so I don't have to research it?"
However, these cells can't always get all of the viruses, so we turn to vaccines. Although, I'm more than sure you all know what vaccines are."
"EW, I wish bacteria and viruses never existed."
"Actually some bacteria are good for us. You see bacteria lives inside us. For example, they help our digestive systems by releasing toxins into our body. Also did you know that viruses and bacteria live EVERYWHERE! In the air, in water, in-"
"Shut up Jason, no one cares."
That was Louis's last science lesson, Jason's last round of fun facts. I miss Jason's fun facts already. I remember this conversation as clear as day even though it was a year ago from today. I miss them.
Never will I forget those Six Clowns. The six clowns that killed my best friends, for a game of Hide and Seek.
