14- Rapidfire Wedding Planning
Halley was slightly confused when, at the beginning of the Christmas holidays, Venus and Neville invited all of their friends and family to their house in Hogsmeade, saying that they had some big news.
"Do you know why everyone is here?" James asked.
"No, Mum and Dad wouldn't tell us anything," said Halley, "but they've been weirdly happy since we broke up from school."
"Maybe Venus is pregnant," offered Hope.
"No way," Alfie shook his head, "no, no, no, my sister is not pregnant!"
"Well-" Hope grinned.
"Nope," Halley put a hand over Hope's mouth, "just stop talking."
The room began to grow quiet, and Neville and Venus got to their feet.
"We're getting married," Venus told the room eventually.
"Yeah, we know, you've been saying that for almost twelve years," Mali said.
"No, you don't understand, we're getting married on the 5th of January," Neville added.
"But that's two weeks from now!" Molly squeaked.
"So we should probably start planning then!" Venus pointed out.
Almost immediately the room broke into a shed load of noise.
All four of the teenagers remained silent, looking at their Professors in shock.
"I'm assuming that you didn't know anything about this?" Nova had poked Halley's arm.
"No, I knew nothing."

Everyone was set to work very quickly. Halley, Hope, Nova, Selene and Lily were fitted with bridesmaid dresses, and eventually, Fleur managed to drag Venus and the other adults off to purchase a wedding dress, despite Venus's many protests that she didn't want a wedding dress and would be happy in her dress robes or even her pyjamas.
Halley and James had been given the job of sorting out the wedding presents. They rushed through it and tried to escape from their Grandmother's clutches, but they weren't able to evade the wedding planning for long, as they passed through the kitchen and were ambushed by an annoyed looking Neville.
"What is it, dad?" Halley groaned.
"I have a job for you two," he forced a smile, "you can help with the seating chart."
"Uh!" James complained as Neville placed them down in seats beside Augusta Longbottom (his Grandmother).
"You guys did both offer to help. Now, this is helping," Neville grinned again and hurried away.
"Actually I never offered, you made me!" Halley yelled after him, but it was obvious that he either didn't hear her or was straight up ignoring her. Halley suspected it was the second option.
Halley turned back to the seating chart that was laid out in front of them.
"Halley," Augusta said curtly.
"Hello," Halley waved weakly at her Great-Grandmother. Augusta had never been particularly fond of Halley, despite the fact that she was her Great-Granddaughter. She thought that Halley was a troublemaker, and exhibited no signs that she was a Longbottom. The woman had never been particularly fond of Venus either, but she loved Nysa, virtually worshipped him as a god.
"Right, so where should we place the Black boy and the Lupin girl?" Augusta asked.
"You mean Hope and Alfie?" James said.
"I think we should place them right here," Halley pointed.
"No, no, dear that's where I'm sitting," August said briskly.
"I know," Halley murmured to James.
