11- James Jumps Over The Moon
James seemed absolutely over the moon that Halley and Adam had broken up. So much so that it was hard for Halley to feel too sad about the breakup.
The pair seamlessly settled back into their old comfortable friendship, and neither gave any indication that they had ever had an argument.
They sat at the back of lessons, poking fun at the teachers. They strode the halls, giving Skiving Snackboxes to unwitting First Years. And laughing as other students buried themselves in revision for their Exams.
"You two are just like James and Sirius," Remus shook his head as he scolded James and Halley for setting off some Decoy Detonators outside of a sixth-year exam. "They never bothered to revise, or put in any work at all."
"Didn't Grandad get mostly Os in his NEWTs though, and James Potter too?" Halley asked.
"I suppose that neither of them is a very good example of why you should revise are they?" Remus scratched his head, "well, nevertheless, you must put the work in."
"I think we're alright," James shrugged and grinned.
"Are you alright Re-I mean Professor Lupin?" Halley asked, slightly concerned at her Godfather's tired eyes and ill-looking demeanour.
"Oh, yes, of course I am," he waved her off, but the wrinkles on his face were more evident, making him look much older, and he had a gaunt look about him, "you two hurry off to your lessons, or I'll have to give you another detention for being late."
They hurried off down the corridor.
"It's the full moon, I know it is," Halley said in a hushed voice to James, glancing over her shoulder at the retreating figure of Remus. "I want to help, but I don't know what I can do."
"There isn't much Halley," said James sincerely, "I mean, there's no cure for Lycanthropy. Otherwise, no one would let your mum and Remus suffer."
********
"Wow, they managed to keep that a secret for a while," Halley murmured as her Grandmother Ophelia berated her son Alfie and his new girlfriend-Hope Lupin- about how they had hidden their relationship from everyone.
"How long have you been dating?" Ophelia demanded, "Alphard Black, you tell me right now!"
"Um... A while," Alfie offered.
This answer didn't seem to be enough for Ophelia. She whirled around to face her husband, who was stood beside Remus, Neville and Venus. "Who knew about this?"
Both of Halley's parents burst out laughing.
"You two?" Sirius demanded, "you two knew and you didn't say anything!"
"In our defence," said Hope, under the strong glare of her father, "we thought that they'd tell you!" She returned Remus's glare with a wide grin.
"How long have you known?" Sirius asked, still looking between Venus and Neville disbelievingly.
"We caught them snogging during the anniversary ball," said Venus.
"My own flesh and blood!" Sirius shook his head, turning to glare at Alfie instead, "both lying to me."
"You'll get over it dad," Alfie patted his father's arm.
"No!" Sirius brushed him off, dramatically flipping his hair, "I-I-" he held a hand to his heart, "I will never recover from such a betrayal."
"I see where your dramatics come from now," James murmured.
"Hey!" Halley shoved James, who almost toppled into the gap between the Hogwarts Express and the Platform.
"I think that I'm going to step in before this gets too violent," Ginny stepped between the two teenagers. "Come on Jamsie, we're going home."
