The Answer (Bill Temple)

The Answer

I've searched for years for the elusive chord

Now David's gone, we forsake the Lord

You lost the songs that I sang to you

The instruments, they tune no more

The  melodies scattered on the floor

The baffled King no longer sings Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Your faith was strong, now lessons lost

She seeks some shelter, that's the cost

Her beauty in the moonlight eludes you

The kitchen's full of empty chairs

Deserted hallways filled with fear

The silent voices echo, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You said I took his name in vain

His memory now, all that remains

And if I've forgotten that, what's it to you

No lightening bolts fill up the sky

The thunder roars the constant cries

The lost souls that scream out Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, mistakes were made

I've sought the sun, hid in the shade

The lies I told, seemed like the truth to you

And though the paths have overgrown

We hold the seeds that could be sewn

The future still has hope, oh Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
