22. Reunion on the Little Daisy

22. Reunion on the Little Daisy

The sun blazed down onto the hot sandy beach of Tintagel Bay. The small waves lapped against the coastline, and the sea water rose to FJ's feet. He hissed and jumped back when the cold blue water touched the skin of his bare feet. One of these days, he would make himself immune to sea crystals. He had been practising since his encounter with Clone One, preparing himself to take out Clone Two.

Who knew what mischief the Clone had already caused in his name? It made FJ shake in his boots for fear of the consequences of Clone Two's possible actions.

A cloud of blue mist appeared next to him and accumulated into a spirit with long blue hair. She had a dazzling blue left eye - the other was covered with an eyepatch - a cute button nose and soft plump lips, and wore black shorts with a blue, long-sleeved crop top and white suspenders. She looked like Jessica Red. The Blue Spirit used to look like a taller woman with high cheekbones, a sharp thin nose, and a much slimmer frame.

"Your appearance has changed, Laura," FJ commented. He sat down next to an outcrop of rocks. Next to him, Titania could be found curled up in a ball, fast asleep in the shade. "I should start calling you Jessica Blue." He laughed at his own joke, which Laura did not find amusing.

"I take on the appearance most appealing to you, which happens to be this girl. Who is Jessica Red? The Levon Pirates kept mentioning I looked like her." Laura strode towards him with her hands placed firmly on her hips and towered over FJ.

Her resemblance to Jessica disturbed FJ. He didn't like it, and wanted Laura to turn back into the other woman. But that couldn't be done until he stopped thinking about Jessica, but her death clouded his thoughts, making it impossible not to think about her.

"So you met my captain on Sapphire Island?" FJ pulled his socks and shoes on. "Does that mean you finally found the Blue Eye and gave it to his First Mate?"

Laura scowled at him. "Answer my question first."

FJ rolled his eyes and stood back up, stretching his arms high up into the air. "Jessica Red is a member of Levon's crew, and from what I last heard from Levi, she drowned in Atlantis with Logan."

"So why do I look like her?" Laura pursed her lips. "You left Levi's crew before there even was a crew, so how do you know her?"

"I did not leave Levi's crew. I caused the fire on Sunrise Island before we left for our adventure. I had to stay and help them rebuild. Rest assured, I will rejoin Levi one day as the original First Mate." FJ swallowed dryly and looked around him, making sure nobody heard. "As for Jessica, I've met her before, and I've been thinking about her a lot lately, ever since I found out she died."

Laura heaved a sigh. He looked saddened by the news that Jessica had died. She wondered how well they knew each other. She didn't dwell on it; the topic made her master upset. After all, she could feel his emotions.

"The Blue Eye is in Alex's possession," she informed her master.

"Good." FJ nodded. The Five Eyes were better off in Alex's hands then anyone else's.

"Levi told me about Clone Two. Is he the reason why you've been lending me less energy?" Laura noticed her blue mystic energy fizzing out again.

"Yeah, sorry about that?" FJ meekly smiled. "I had a fight with Clone One and he stabbed me with a sea-crystal knife. I had to use all of my energy just to defeat him. So, if you don't mind, I'm going to have to turn you back into a sword so I can reserve my energy."

Laura frowned, puffing out her bottom lip and folding her arms across her chest in protest. She didn't like the idea of returning to Limbo. She had enjoyed the freedom of the human realm as a Roaming Spirit for over a year now and didn't want to return, but she understood completely why FJ wanted her to turn back into a sword form, and knew if she stayed, she would endanger her master's life by further taking his energy from him.

"It will only be until I've killed Clone Two, then all will be back to normal again." He grinned. "Plus, you're my way of proving to my friends that I'm the real deal and not the clone."

He had a childish grin just like Levi's, and it made her heave in annoyance and slump her shoulders in defeat.

"Fine, but don't take too long." She smiled and misted into a cloud of blue dust, turning back into a blue bladed cutlass.

"Thanks, Laura." FJ picked up the sword and strapped it to his back over his white-hooded jacket. He prodded Titania awake. "Wakey, wakey, nice and shiny."

"Five more minutes," Titania groaned.

FJ tickled her stomach and the fairy queen started to giggle and laugh from the playful act. She managed to get FJ to stop and expanded her pink, translucent wings that sparkled with green dust as she flew up into the air around him and sat down on his shoulder. FJ walked around to the other side of the rock where the tied up Elite Captain sat on the wet sand, burning in the sunlight. His skin peeled to reveal red rawness beneath.

"So, that's the famous legendary sword you will be using to distinguish yourself from your clone?" The Elite Captain lifted a brow, infatuated by the blue sword strapped to FJ's back.

"Shut up!" FJ punched him across the face, knocking the navy office's head to the side and clicking his jaw out of place.

"The name's Dave, in case you were interested." He rotated his jaw until it clicked back into place.

"Not really." FJ hauled his duffel bag over his shoulder.

"Going somewhere?" Dave spat blood from his mouth.

"The Brethren Court, where you will be dealt with accordingly by the Pirate King," FJ sneered.

"The Pirate King?" Dave lacked all emotion.

"Yep!" FJ grinned. "And he hates my guts, so he's most definitely going to hate you."

Dave gulped and fidgeted in an attempt to escape from his ropes. "You can't keep me tied up like this forever. I will escape, and when I do, you will regret ever holding me captive. I'm not called the Elite Captain for nothing. I'm on par with Sir Francis Drake. He's a good friend of mine and will kill you the second he finds out you have me!" Dave snarled in an attempt to threaten him.

"Oh, really?" FJ crouched down to Dave's level with a menacing smirk. "If you're such good friends with Drake, then why did you go on a mission to attack Solaria City without his consent?"

"King's orders." Dave glared.

"Mordred, such an egoistic bastard," FJ hissed and stood up again. "Oh, and just to be clear, you're nowhere near on par with the Sea Dog. He wouldn't get caught." FJ shook his head dismissively and dragged Dave onto his feet. "Let's go before I snap your neck."

"Are we finally heading over to Halfway Point?" Titania buzzed around his head.

"We sure are. Just keep a hold of me and don't let go mid-teleport or you could end up anywhere in the world."

Titania nodded in understanding and tucked herself into the folds of his white hoodie. FJ kept a firm grip of Dave and started to visualise his path to Halfway Point. Having picked his route, he disappeared from the sands of Tintagel Bay and began teleporting across the world. It was like he was a bird, flying high up in the air and looking down on the world below him. He flew across the sea, over different islands, mountain ranges, and oceans. Everything flew past him in less then a second, but he saw every little detail, from the children playing in their gardens to the trees swaying to the wind, until about halfway through, he saw a boat abandoned in the middle of the ocean. A boat he recognised.

"The Little Daisy!" he exclaimed. His crystal blue eyes flicked opened and he was standing on the deck of the abandoned ship.

"This doesn't look like Halfway Point!" Dave looked around them. There was nothing to be seen except the stark, blue ocean.

"Shut up!" FJ shoved him into the corner and he stumbled over a rapier sword, which rolled across the deck.

FJ picked it up and pulled the sword out from its smooth black scabbard, revealing a shiny silver blade which reflected light into his eyes.

"A dual spirit?" FJ nodded, impressed. "I haven't seen one of those before."

Laura on his back hummed angrily in defence, and the rapier hummed back just as angrily.

"You know each other, but not too well, I see." FJ put the silver sword back into its black scabbard and looked around the ship, noticing all of Logan's and what he presumed were Jessica's belongings, and melted wax from burnt out candles - the signs left over of a castaway ship. "I'm so sorry, Logan. May your soul one day reunite with your ship."

FJ trailed his finger along the craftsmanship of the boat, a sad pout forming on his lips. He couldn't stay here too long; it was considered bad luck to interfere with a castaway ship. He placed the rapier sword back down onto the ground out of respect. He frowned when he heard the distant sounds of someone screaming, followed by a thud from behind him. FJ swivelled around on his feet to find a green fairy groaning in pain on the deck. Titania popped her head out from his hood and her pink eyes glistened with tears upon seeing the fairy.

"Obi!" Titania cried, her heart pounding alive.

She fluttered down to the green fairy and lifted his head, and he stared at her in awe. For a second, he couldn't believe his wife was real, but there she was, as beautiful as ever with long green hair and sparkling pink eyes filled with love.

"Titania!" He pulled her into a deep, affectionate kiss, tears lining his cheeks.

FJ's heart warmed at seeing the pair of them reunited. He smiled when the two flexed their wings and spiralled up into the air with fairy dust trailing after them. A fairy's kiss was a magical sight to behold.

"So, I guess you won't be heading to Halfway Point with me anymore?" FJ's smile fell, realising he would no longer have his friend and the best little sidekick he ever had.

The two fairies parted from their kiss, and Oberon protectively pulled Titania behind him. His teal-green eyes sharpened towards FJ. He raised his tiny fists and balls of green energy started to glow around his hands, ready to sting FJ.

"You will pay for holding my wife captive!" Oberon aimed a sting towards FJ, which he easily dodged. Instead, it hit Dave, who fell back and whacked his head.

"Hold on!" FJ lifted his hands, surrendering himself to the Fairy King. "I wasn't holding your wife captive..." Zap! The fairy sting smacked him right in the chest, where FJ was still healing from a past injury. "Ow... that hurt!"

FJ could feel his body heat up with angered emotions, and was about to fire back when Titania flew between them.

"Obi, stop!" She placed her hands on Oberon's cheeks. "FJ saved me from my captors. He was going to bring me back to you!"

Oberon's eyes narrowed towards FJ who, with a sheepish smile, rubbed off the charcoal residue from his white jacket where he had been stung.

"FJ?" Oberon flew around his head and inspected his blue hair and eyes and tanned skin from too many days in the sun, possibly of Meridian origin. "As in, FJHD from the signup sheet?"

"Yep, that's me!" FJ quirked a smile. "Fredrick Junior Henry Davidson or FJ for short." He stuck out his hand for Oberon to shake. "It's nice to finally meet a fellow crew mate."

FJ deadpanned when Oberon turned into his human form. He was as tall, if not taller than FJ, with large muscles and a scary, dense look on his face. He gripped FJ's hand and shook it, crushing his bones at the same time. FJ bit down on his lip to suppress a howling squeal. He could no longer feel his hand.

"Well, you're a big fellow." FJ swallowed and looked at Oberon's shoulder where Titania was sitting, giggling away. "I definitely see why you fell for him now."

Oberon looked down on his shoulder and smiled, affectionately stroking Titania's hair. Her beautiful smile fell when a dark shadow loomed over the entirety of the Little Daisy and water dripped down onto the deck, soaking them all. Oberon's senses went on overdrive, screaming at him to run, but where would he run to? The sea surrounded him.

"Nobody move!" FJ steadied his hands out in front of himself.

Oberon didn't dare move a muscle and a petrified look fell upon his face when an acidic substance fell from above him and sizzled through the deck.

"What is it?" Oberon trembled.

"A giant sea serpent..." FJ gulped and stared directly into the beast's yellow eyes. He dared not lose contact with it in case it attacked him if he so much as flinched.

FJ tensed, ready to attack, when the snake unhinged its lower jaw and a giant ball of purple energy flopped out of its mouth and bounced onto the deck of the Little Daisy.

"I didn't expect that." FJ blinked. "Please tell me I'm not the only one who just saw a giant snake throw up a purple mystic fur ball?" He looked to the others, who looked just as perplexed as he.

"I saw it too." Titania stood frozen on Oberon's shoulder.

"Ok, just making sure that I wasn't going crazy." FJ stepped towards the purple energy that he now recognised as spirit magic.

He cautiously prodded the ball of mystic energy with his finger and he jumped back like a frightened toddler when it popped. The purple dust settled and revealed two bodies. FJ's heart raced when he saw Jessica, her chest slowly rising up and down to the rhythm of her slow, uneven breathing. He approached her, only for the giant snake to hiss at him.

"She needs my help!" FJ attempted to reason with the snake, which kept spitting at him and anyone else with venom anytime they tried to approach Jessica.

Oberon managed to make it to Logan's side; the snake did not seem as protective with him, only Jessica. The fairy started first aid and wondered how they'd ended up in the mouth of a snake when the last time he saw them, they were in the Spirit Realm. It was then he noticed that they were wearing fancy clothes worn only at a ball. Logan was in a black tie, and Jessica wore a purple dress.

Logan breathed in deeply and sat up straight, his body shaking all over. His eyes darted around him until they landed on the tall, overshadowing snake. He clenched his fists and the plants from his little pot garden started to grow at exceptional speeds and shot forth towards the snake.

Slice! In a red blur, Jessica had cut through the green vines before they could hurt the serpent.

"Nolite nocere mi amice Linda!" Jessica angrily pointed her red sword towards them. She looked exhausted, her shoulders rising up and down to the rhythms of her heavy breathing.

She stumbled slightly and at once, everyone jumped to her aid.

"Manere retrorsum!" She pointed her sword sharply towards Logan, who lifted his hands to show he wasn't armed.

"Jess, it's me. It's Logan." He moved his arms down to show he wasn't a threat.

"Manere retrorsum!" She looked scared, her eyes darting between the different unfamiliar people surrounding her.

The snake sensed her fear and hissed towards them to back off before lowering its head to Jessica's side.

"Manere retrorsum!" The red sword rattled in her hand.

"What is she saying?" Logan clenched his fist, ready to shoot his vines towards the snake.

"She's saying stay back. The snake is my friend, Linda." FJ stood between them before a fight started and the snake ripped the boat apart. "On behalf of everyone here, I would like to stay afloat. So if you could please, Logan, calm down."

"FJ?" Logan relaxed his hands and looked him up and down with squinted eyes. Dark blue hair and blue eyes; it had to be FJ. "Is that you? Is this my boat? What is going on?"

FJ never did like Logan. He always found him extremely annoying, and he often interfered with other people's business. One of the reasons, he guessed, why Levi never officially allowed him to join the crew.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." FJ dismissively waved his hand at him. "We can all catch up later about why we all ended up on the Little Daisy at the same time. For now, let's sort out the confusion with Jessica." FJ scowled at her bleeding nose. "Before she hurts herself further."

"Hi..." FJ waved in greeting, speaking back to Jessica in the same language she had been speaking in.

After a long conversation and what looked like flirting on FJ's behalf, Jessica put her sword away and stroked the head of the snake before instructing it to leave. The snake dove into the sea, and it's dark, gloomy shadow disappeared to the deep depths of the ocean.

With the snake now gone, FJ instructed Titania to help Jessica change out of her purple dress, and instructed Oberon to take Dave down to the brig.

"What's wrong with her? Why is she speaking that strange language?" Logan grabbed FJ's arm before he walked into the cabin after them. "And what are you doing on my boat?"

"I was heading to the Brethren Court when I came across your boat adrift in the sea. As for Jessica, she's speaking Hivian, and I believe she has a head trauma, which has caused partial amnesia." FJ frowned at Logan. "What happened to you after Atlantis? Levi told me you both drowned in the tunnels." FJ narrowed his eyes towards him.

Logan explained to him what had happened without revealing to FJ that Jessica was a half spirit. He didn't trust FJ with such dangerous information, but he had an idea that FJ already knew. He always seemed to know everything that happened in the world.

Afterwards, they all settled down in the very small galley, and huddled together around the table, figuring out what to do next. FJ sat down next to Jessica. She had changed out of her fancy purple dress and was now wearing black leggings with a purple hoodie and leather boots, which the crew had left behind on the ship during the castaway ceremony.

"Will you let me examine you? I think you have an internal head injury." FJ spoke Hivian and pulled back her red hair away from her eyes.

His heart pounded at the way she innocently looked up towards him with big round eyes and a small, soft smile. She nodded her head, immediately trusting him, something Logan found off-putting. He would have to have a word with FJ to stay away from Jessica. He promised Alex he would look after her, and he would keep his word.

FJ grabbed a small pocket torch from his white jacket and flashed the light into her eyes. Her pupils were responding normally. He checked around her head for any external injuries, but found none that would cause her amnesia. She yawned, and her nose started to bleed. He grabbed for a cloth and wiped the blood from her upper lip. He stared at her, thinking deeply to himself. They had been in the snake's mouth since Atlantis, a couple of weeks ago, and from the vague story Logan had told him, they could have only have ended up in the Spirit Realm with Jessica's spirit magic. He knew about that. Levi had told him. His captain told him everything. Their bodies must have been cocooned in her purple mist all this time, depleting her energy and overworking her brain, causing the nosebleeds and the amnesia. It surprised him that she was still alive.

"She's overworked herself keeping you both alive in her purple mist. Her memories should come back to her soon, once she has rested and healed." He put the torch away into his pocket.

Logan relaxed, thankful she would be ok but annoyed that FJ already knew she was half spirit. He didn't bother asking how FJ knew.

"What is wrong with me?" She looked scared and grabbed for FJ's hand.

"Nothing that bed rest can't heal." He squeezed her hand back with a reassuring smile.

She smiled back and his heart warmed, but slowly, he took his hand away from her, remembering the night of the fire, specifically her cries for help. He looked away, unable to face her sad pout of disappointment.

"We should get going to Halfway Point." Logan pulled a map out across the table. "Does anyone have any idea where we are?"

"Here." FJ prodded his finger on the map. Nothing but the blue sea surrounded their location, except for a couple of small islands nearby. "One of my copied cursed souls has the ability to know exactly where I am in the world. I can never get lost." He shrugged.

"We're at least three days away from Halfway Point." Logan sighed. "With no supplies."

Titania landed her small body onto the map and tiptoed over to one of the surrounding islands.

"That's Fairy Land!" She chirped with a big grin. "You can stop off there, drop us off, and collect supplies before heading to Halfway Point."

Oberon landed next to her and picked her up by the waist and spun her around. "I'm so happy to finally go home with you. Luke will be so excited to see you again." The Fairy King looked concerned. "I hope Luke has been able to handle the fairy council in my place since I've been gone. He's only 150 years old, still a child."

FJ choked. "150 is still a child?"

"We fairies live to a millennia. 150 is equivalent to 18 years old to you humans," Oberon explained.

"Luke will be fine," Titania reassured her husband. "You wouldn't have given him the position to rule in your place while you were absent from the court if you didn't think he was ready."

"Who is Luke?" FJ wondered, since Titania never mentioned him once throughout their friendship.

"He's our son!" Titania gleamed.

Both Logan and FJ we're gobsmacked. "Son?" they chorused.

"Yes, and we should get back to him before he ruins my kingdom." Oberon groaned and started to rub his temple, feeling depleted of magic and energy.

"It looks like we're heading to Fairy Land, then!" FJ grinned menacingly. "This ought to be fun!"
