Dear journal,                                                                                                                                                     10 pm

   It was crazy yesterday! After the post dinner games a fiery blast came out of literally NO WHERE and a giant red devil looking thing appeared. It was really scary everybody was screaming, but it turns out it was Hades. Chiron was furious, Mr. D hid but otherwise didn't care. Got to see Percy's mom, she was trapped. Hades said that Percy had to bring him the Bolt (whatever that is suppose to mean) if he ever wants to see his mom again. Sounds pretty risky to me. At least I'm not involved.

   I snuck quietly out of my bunk, and slipped on my sneakers. Careful not to hit my head on Brooke's dangling hand when I stood up, I grabbed my bag and tip-toed in a hurry out the door, latching it soundlessly behind me, praying silently that I didn't wake anyone. I couldn't get caught or Percy and I would be in deep trouble. He approached me yesterday when I was sitting on the rickety old, rotting dock nobody uses anymore. He told me he was leaving camp to get his mother back (even though he doesn't have whatever bolt thing Hades was talking about, which I think is dumb but whatever. I am in need of some real action!) He said it would just be the two of us so I wasn't suppose to tell anyone, especially Annabeth. I'm pretty sure it's because Percy really likes her and doesn't want her to get hurt, but he says it is because he knows me better (*eyeroll*). After everyone had gone to dinner yesterday, I stuffed a backpack of extra clothes, an extra pair of sneakers, money (100 mortal dollars and 20 drachmas loaned from the camp store), and while at dinner I packed food. I did my best to make sure nobody saw, but Annabeth was keeping an annoyingly close watch ever since she caught me leaving the cabin 5 minutes after the dinner bell. She had comeback to find me, but I was leaving the cabin before she got there. She never saw what  was doing, but now she was deadly suspicious. 

   I met Percy behind Poseidon's cabin. He's the only one in that cabin so it's not like we where going to get caught there anyway. As I turned to corner I saw Grover and Annabeth standing there too.

"Didn't know you invited them too." I said to Percy.

"Guess we didn't know you were coming either." Annabeth said with a smile. Just as we started on our venture we heard a twig snap behind us.

"Hey! Where y'all going!" A flowery voice asked demandingly. We look around for the source of the familiar voice, but I already knew who it was. Rayne, Angel, and Lily popped out each from behind a different tree.

"How'd you find us?!" I asked bewildered.

"We are on watch. And you guys aren't necessarily sneaky. I could hear you from over there" Rayne said in her signature flowery voice, not unlike Luna's, but not as high. 

"Watching to make sure nobody leaves or summons a monster inside the safety of Thalia's tree as a practical joke. Mostly so no campers leave though." Lily added pointedly. "Rayne and I do it because we are in the big house so we don't disturb any campers. Angel said she was reading and saw you cross over to the other side of cabins to Cabin 3. What were you thinking!" I braced myself for a lecture.

"Oh let them go." Said a deep, also familiar, voice.  Luke jumped down from the branches of another tree. "Let them have some fun! Adventure! Don't worry, I'll send them with some stuff to keep them safe. The necessities you know. They'll be fine!" He said in a low voice. 

"Chiron gave me this mission and told me I could bring a few companions. So technically we are allowed to leave." Percy said suddenly. 

"We'll be safe. " I assured Lily. 

"Don't take your phone with you. It will attract more monsters. IM me every night or I am going to hunt your down and drag you back here myself!" Lily warned then suddenly pulled me into a tight hug and whispered in my ear,

"I promised Dad I would always keep you safe and wouldn't let you get hurt. He made me promise to always watch over you and never let you out of my sight when we are here. You can't get hurt."

"I'll be ok." I said reassuring her and myself this time. I had to get back to my dad, as well as help Percy get his mom back. 

   I miss Dad terribly. Once the summer was over I got to go home to him, but he'd be sending my back to another boarding school. But I won't be able to come home from this one nightly like I did Yancy Academy. 

   I followed Luke to Hermes cabin. It was just as crowded as it was when Percy had to stay in here, before he knew who his Dad was. Luke ushered us over to a black curtain, and when he pulled it back it revealed the only single bed in the cabin. Each of the Cabin leaders have a single bed except Brooke because there is hardly enough room for the bunks on the side of the cabin where the bunks are. I thought Luke would be stuck on a bunk because of the lack of room in the cabin. I mean half the kids are on the floor as it is. There wasn't a lot of room behind the curtain, but there was a little. A little privacy and personal space is better than none like the rest of the kids had. 

   Luke lifted his pillow and pulled a key from under it and opened the chest at he end of his bed. He pulled out a slender shoe box, opening it, revealing a pair of black converses hat had small but strong wings on either side.

"They are one of my dad's pair of flying shoes. I nicked 'em when we were on a field trip to Olympus that the camp took. The god's weren't there so I left the group and wandered around and stole some pretty neat stuff. Cool, right?" Luke asked Mischievously. Annabeth nodded with a big smile and goo goo eyes, where Percy internally rolled his eyes. Giving a soft chuckle at the obvious love triangle (Well obvious to everyone who wasn't in it), I grabbed the shoe box and put it in Percy's backpack.

   Next Luke pulled out what looked like an arm guard archers use. "Now stand back a bit." He warned and with that he pushed a small spot on the arm guard until with a swift clockwise motion a circular shield took form. I gasped in awe. This is the third person who I know with weapons that transformed into something taking two forms. Wish mine did that.

"Now you guys have to be careful out there. My father travels to the underworld and back all the time. However he's not the only one. Persephone is forced to stay with Hades so she hid a whole bunch of green pearls that will allow men who visit her to return to our world. Here is a map to help you find them. Once you collect one the next will appear on the map. There are only four left. The first one is here," Luke said pointing to a spot on the map. Ink started to appear that read Aunty Em's Garden Emporium "The entrance to the Underworld is always in the west just like Olympus and it changes. But it is currently in America."

"Where?" I asked eagerly.

"Los Angeles." Percy answered. Luke nodded. "But Chiron told me we can't travel by air because I would never come out of Zeus' domain alive so we travel by land.

"Why not by sea?" Grover asked, his mouth full of aluminum from a few empty coke cans on the floor.

"It's all in America, Grover. We would take a lot of time trying to go by sea and we wouldn't get to our locations." Annabeth said. "We better get on our way."

Luke gave Percy a handshake, Grover a friendly pat on the back and Annabeth a hug and told her to be safe. She nearly fainted. Luke walked over to me and took my hands in his and looked deep into my eyes.

"You be careful, ok. I don't want your sister to have to run all over the world looking for you. She means a lot to me and I can't have her worried so much about protecting you that she feels the need to sacrifice herself for your safety. She tried to do it before, but I wouldn't let her. That's were my scar comes from. I didn't let her protect me and I got a little hurt, when she could have died. Be careful because I couldn't live without either of you." Luke kissed one of my hands and turned to leave.

"You have until now haven't you?" I asked

"You were too little to remember but I lived with y'all for a while after I'd run away from home. You and Lily were my best friends and like sisters to me. But your dad scared me one day and I ran away again and I met Thalia and Annabeth." Luke explained.

At that moment Lily popped her head into the cabin and told us Argus was waiting to drive us to wherever we needed to go. Chiron had set up our transportation and babysitter for our quest. Guess it was time to get on our way. As we got into the car I saw Annabeth looking at me. Eyes full of jealousy.
