[Personality]
Finn is very interesting, simply for the fact that she's made herself this way. She's the type of person to despise the thought of being ordinary so much that she does everything in her power to stop it. Every piece of her programs, every costume, every jump is perfectly orchestrated to make sure she is anything but normal. This, she would be proud to say, has accounted for up to half of her success.
Finn is a hard worker. After all, it shouldn't matter how hard it is to get there if the end result is being the very best. She knows what she wants and gets it.
Still, if she doesn't get what she wants, she denies ever wanting it in the first place. Pride is a prime factor in her daily routine and it's well deserved. Or at least according to her coach.
Pride accounts for her indulgence in the halo and devil affects. If she idolizes someone, anything they do wrong is absolutely irrelevant. If she hates someone, which, regretfully, turns up more often, everything good they may do becomes shrouded in darkness. Overall, she's absolutely biased and very opinionated.
So yes, unless you've already guessed it, Finn is a very straightforward, strong willed person. Yet, she does have a couple of good bones in her. She's very passionate about what she believes in. Most of the time that's figure skating, but she's passionate about her sister getting the grant she's worked so hard for, or her rink buddy getting better.
She can be soft hearted, or rather, she is, it's just a little bit harder to find it than on some people.
[Backstory]
Finley was born on June eighth to a happily married couple. She was the second to a set of twins, the other being her fraternal twin, Trinity. Her mother will swear that Finn was skating before she could even walk, but all athletes mother's say things like that.
Her actual skating started around the age of three, and she was blessed to belong to a fairly well off family who could afford good lessons. Finn was also blessed to be seen by a very successful figure skating coach who saw her potential. Plus, her parents wanted a star, so something was bound to happen
Almost immediately after she turned five she was put in a very prestigious ballet class, to improve technique. Her skating schedule proved too much for regular schooling so she was pulled out and tutored between classes.
She only got better from there. Every year she was getting better, faster, stronger. Things were looking great. Her sister, who was very gifted in scientific fields, was getting along well. Things couldn't be better.
Then bad things started happening. Her only friend who wasn't a skater, actually, the janitor at the rink, got sick. Very sick. That scared Finn more than anything, because he couldn't be at her competitions. Still, it didn't interfere with her work.
Then her mother unexpectedly passed away. Still, it didn't interfere with her work. At this point, it seemed nothing could deter her. Finn was resilient.
Then, only a month before The Selection, her ankle snapped. It was at the very beginning of a practice session, she was just warming up. She took a wrong turn, or stepped the wrong way, she couldn't remember. Things just happened slowly, she couldn't take in what was happening.
This time, it stopped her from skating. Actually, it stopped her from doing anything. It tore her up inside, things were the worst they'd ever been. She could be found late at night trying to get the courage to walk on her badly broken ankle. If she had, it wouldn't have helped. Finn was too scared, so she sat.
Finley let Trinity in. They'd always been close, even for the large amount of separation they'd had. Trinity had graduated early and was on her way to a healthy career in aeronautics. Finn always seemed to like hearing about that.
But her ankle was broken.
That fact alone was enough to make Finn hurt.
[Why she joined]
It was a stroke of genius from her coach. The woman decided that Finn was in desperate need of something to do, and she'd get the girl into The Selection even if she had to pull some strings to do it. She didn't have too. Finn was good enough on her own.
[What they think]
Finley herself things the idea is absolutely psychotic, but she's never been one to question her coach. She doesn't exactly like the idea of competing for the hand of someone she knows nothing about, but whatever. In her own words
"Maybe it's like, a kink or something."
