Oh, how things have changed since then.

Caylus wasn't there for Alexis the one time she needed him. He was the only one that could have helped, that could have saved her, but he wasn't there for my baby.

She was drowning and he was too busy wrapped up in his own life to notice. She was crumbling under the weight that she had carried around nearly her whole life and the one person that she could always turn to, was suddenly too busy for his oldest and best friend.

As selfish as that sounds, he no longer had time for her during the time when she needed him the most. As soon as things began changing for him and as soon as he found something better, he left her behind in the darkness. All he had to do was take her with him, but he was too blinded in love to do even that.

It was devastating that while her whole world revolved around him, his future didn't even include her.

Caylus never noticed the way Alexis would look at him when she thought he wasn't looking, or how she always went out of her way to make him happy. He was just too blind to see it and she was just blind in love.

Even I had noticed it and I was her father; the parent always being the last to find out.

The one person she wanted to share it all with, could open up to all but abandoned her.

Eventually, that killed her.

And that killed me.

I closed shut the diary that was in my hands; the one that held all the answers, the one that changed everything.

All this time, I had sworn to get revenge for whoever caused the death of my daughter but now, I couldn't bring myself to do that.

She wouldn't want it that way.
