2.1|Meet-cute • 💘|
He entered a posh restaurant, looking forward to meet a certain girl there. He was wearing a grey suit, even in the exhausted evening he looked all fresh and energetic.
The manager walked to him and courteously welcomed,“Welcome, Mr Nidhaan Randhawa. How may I help you?”
A part of him felt proud of the fact that he didn't need to introduce himself, because every single soul of the Mumbai City knew who exactly Nidhaan Randhawa was.
“Chahana Minhas... I am here to meet her.”
“Of course, sir. She is sitting at table no. 12. Let me show you the way.”
Chahana was waiting for a certain guy for last fifteen minutes. Every now and then she was looking at her wrist-watch. Patience was not her cup of tea.
She was looking simple yet beautiful in a Maroon Kurta and Black Palazzo. Her hair was left open, dancing along the air and a pair of golden earrings was shining in the black shadow of her locks.
Finally the wait was over and Mr Nidhaan Randhawa graced her with his presence. He stood still for a second and their eyes locked for a moment.
Nidhaan was breathtakingly handsome. His hazel green eyes, brownish black hair, fair skintone, everything about him was gorgeous. His looks were different from average men.
While Chahana was a woman who looked like epitome of innocence. Her black eyes, black hair and innocent look spoke volumes for her personality.
He sat opposite to her chair, a round table acting as a barrier between them. They didn't speak, they were too busy judging each other.
“May I have your order, please?”A young waiter spoke to get their attention.
“Butter Chicken.”They ordered the same dish at the same time.
Their eyes widened a little, it was something unexpected.
“Chicken Lollipop.”Again, same order at the same time.
Now their eyes were all set to pop out of their sockets. Both of them kept quiet for a while. Chinese, Italian, Continental, all kinds of cuisines crossed their minds.
And...
“Mushroom Soup!”Alas! They again ordered the same.
A look of defeat invaded their features.
The waiter was quite amused, stifling his chuckle he said,“Butter Chicken, Chicken Lollipop and Mushroom Soup for both of you. Your order will be here in fifteen minutes. Thank you.”Saying so he left with a grinning face.
Nidhaan and Chahana came out of their dazed state and composed themselves. Both of them were ready to bombard questions over each other.
“Why you want to marry me?”They asked each other at the same time.
“Let me speak first.”Again at the same time.
“Will you please keep quiet?”Again.
“Okay, you speak first.”Again.
“Just shut up!”Again!
They were equally shocked that how even their choice of words could be so similar. They didn't speak after that, just kept staring into each other's eyes.
And suddenly they broke into fits of laughter.
Now they understood why their mothers are so adamant to getting them married. They are the same, like literally same when it comes to their likes and dislikes. Obviously, their personalities were polar opposite, the fact was as clear as the sky on a sunny afternoon.
Their amused eyes collided, Nidhaan, to Chahana's amusement, dramatized to zip his lips and beckoned her to speak.
Chahana chuckled,“So you are interested in this marriage proposal or the business merger?”
Quite straightforward, Chahana.
Nidhaan was about to reply when Chahana put a finger on her lips, doing an increment in his amusement.
“Honestly, both. Business merger was what grabbed my interest. And this meeting with you grabbed my...”Heart.
He didn't dare utter the last word. However, his eyes already told her what he meant.
“Any girlfriend?”Because she knew he'll have more than just one.
“A lot of them. But I'll break up today only.” Player, but can be committed and loyal, if got a right partner. She just hoped it was her.
“What about you? Any boyfriend?”He raised his eyebrows, expecting to hear a No.
“One.”She replied.
“And?”He wondered if it is a boyfriend or ex-boyfriend. Ex-boyfriend, hopefully.
“Heartbreak.”She said with a sigh.
Ex-boyfriend! That calls for a party!
“Your order, sir, ma'am.”The same waiter returned with their orders.
Butter Chicken, Chicken Lollipop and Mushroom Soup for both of them.
With a smile adorning their faces all the while, they began the dinner.
“Why we never met on any get-together our mothers arrange?”Nidhaan asked while chewing on a piece of Chicken Lollipop.
“Because I am a genuine introvert, who hates socializing to no end.”
“I can't live without parties.”He shuddered thinking about how she can live without meeting people. He was a social bird, a page-3 celebrity.
“I don't like meeting people who acts so lovingly but bad-mouth about us on our backs.”Her point was clear-cut.
“But not everyone is like this. There will be people who truly admire and respect you.” Just like he just developed admiration towards her.
“I never met such person.”
Her words hurt him, so he kept quiet. He admired her, even if it was their first meeting.
“What happened? You turned so quiet all of a sudden.”She asked while taking a bit of Butter Chicken.
He shrugged,“You said you never met such person who admires or respects you.”
“And?”She couldn't understand his point.
“I do.”He looked straight into her eyes.
Chahana was baffled.
“It wasn't directed towards you. We just met some time ago.”She explained.
“But I am already your fiance.”He was confident in his words.
“What?”And she was confused at his words.
“We like each other, right?”
Nidhaan, I need your confidence.
“Nidhaan, it's too early.”She reasoned.
“I understand. But... I like you.”He made a cute pout.
“In that case, I like you too. But I need some time. To understand you. To know if we can be together. I don't want just a husband, but a soulmate.”
“Means, we'll be dating?”He arched his eyebrows.
“Kind of. If it includes hanging out together.”She took a sip of mushroom soup.
“Oh, babes, it includes much more than that.”His seductive words made her cough.
She drank some water and glared at him.
“All men's mind always revolve around bed.”She taunted.
“I never mentioned bed.”He smirked.
“But you meant that.”
“But I never said what I meant.”
“Then what did you mean?”
He looked around, people were glancing at their table. Nidhaan was a popular businessman. This attention wasn't a surprise.
But it didn't stop him from standing up from his chair and moving to her side. He bent lower, closer to her face and kissed her cheek.
Chahana was astonished. He kissed her at their first meeting.
He looked into her eyes.
“I know it's too early, but I can't help this. Maybe, it's love at first sight.”
And he sat back on his chair.
“I think I should leave.”She stood up to leave.
“Let me drop you home.”He beckoned a waiter for the bill.
“No, I have my car. I'll go by myself.”
“Then you drop me home.”He said while taking the bill from a waiter and paying the money.
Chahana left without replying. But Nidhaan followed her.
They were in the parking area. The sky was dominated by darkness of the universe. His steps followed hers as she passed by the cars.
Suddenly Nidhaan held her wrist, moving to stand in front of her. And he kissed her again, this time on her lips.
And when the kiss ended he said, “I'll be coming to your home tomorrow morning, for the breakfast. I love your mother's Dal Parantha.”
She couldn't help that smile from gracing her face.
“Bye.”And she headed to her car.
“Good night! I'll call you before sleeping.”He grinned.
“You are such a clingy person!”
“Now that's not my fault that you are a charmer.”
Smile wasn't ready to leave their faces. If it was possible Nidhaan would have married her at that instant. But he tried to make his heart understand. And headed to his car. Already excited to call her before going to bed and for the breakfast next day.
She truly charmed him, without making any effort. And he made her feel so special by giving his attention.
Their meet-cute.
Their romantic first encounter.
