Day five

Day five: 7/24

Duration: 1.4 (0.4x1, 0.2x1, 0.6x1)

The sky was a bit more cloudy than I expected... I hope it doesn't rain. I don't know why I arrived half an hour early for no reason at all.

We gathered, warmed up, and swam a times two routine - except the coach ordered it to be the fastest we can go. I finished in less than half the time limit and got a minute break for the second person to finish. I hastily gulped down some water and went to the gathering.

The lesson for today finally get us to save the victim- it seemed easy enough when the coaches demonstrated it, but when we had to carry out the task, we came to a conclusion. If you're inexperienced in saving people, first of all you'll kill the victim in more ways than you can think of, and secondly, you'll get yourself sued out of existence.

I'll describe it again. The team was split into pairs, and we simulated trying to get the victim back to the poolside. Only seconds after we came into contact with the imaginary "victim", half of them died, some of them had their limbs fractured, only three pairs did it correctly and one of them was the coaches. One would struggle to carry his partner back the correct way as the coach shouted from above through everyone's laughs, pointing out mercilessly what he did wrong and what consequence the victim will suffer. Mine became vegetative because I accidentally kneed him in the lower spine. (He was definitely over six feet, what do you expect)

Common accidents include, but not limited to, snapped necks, snapped back, asphyxiation, fractures, lost limbs, concussions, pulmonary edemas, single-handed discombobulation, etc. etc. And that was only the first method of how to approach a drowning victim.

So uh, if you found yourself in a similar situation call an ambulance instead, because even if you have confidence in yourself, you'll probably kill the victim faster than he can kill himself. That, or you drown.

The class swam another times three routine and was disbanded soon after. (I'm running out of different words to end today's journal.)

Additional notes:

** Call the authorities first if you notice a person drowning. Do not in any case jump into the water and attempt to pull him up as you'll most likely do the victim in and even yourself if not careful.

* I decided I'm not going to list the tutorial out because safety reasons.
