"Tobio, are you serious? We can still have a long-distance relationship. Do we have to break up just because we may be going to the different school?" You can't believe him right now because he asked for the break up on the day after the middle school volleyball tournament end.
"I am serious and we have to focus on our volleyball practice and so on. If we don't focus right now, we can't beat other school and we will be stuck in our position of just a middle school setter." You're dumbfounded with his answer. You looked at him and sighed.
"Fine, we break up. You want to go to Shiratorizawa, right? I will go to Karasuno. We will walk our way, practiced hard and become the best setter." You walked away after said that to him.

"That's it, I guess" You want to break into tears but, you hold it by closing your eyes and took a deep breath and let it slowly.

After that day, you both didn't see each other and really just do what you guys want to do without knowing that each of you still thinking about each other but decided to just let it go. You're decided to never think about love again and just focus on your volleyball team and tournament.

Time flies, and now you're a highschooler at Karasuno. You choose to go to Karasuno because first, your brother Daichi will be there. Second, because you knew a few people in the school, so you will never awkward on your first day and third, your brother said the girl volleyball team at Karasuno really need a calibre setter and you're one of it that they've targeted because you got the best setter award for girls in the last tournament.

Your brother asked you to come first at the gym that the boy's team will be practice after school because he wanted to introduce you to his teammate and wanted you to practice more under their setter, Sugawara-senpai since you said you want to learn how a highschooler setter will be. You walked to the gym and heard a boy shouting something.

"Y-You?! What are you doing here?" You're curious to know what's going on, so you walked to the orange hair boy to asked him, but the figure greeted you really makes you shocked.
"Y-You?! What are you doing here?" You shouted the exact same thing. Your eyes widen and the same thing happened to Kageyama.
"(y-y/n)..."

"You said you want to go to Shiratorizawa, so what are you doing here?" You pushed the orange hair boy away and walked to Kageyama.
"I-I...I did apply to Shiratorizawa, but I.." He frustrated and you can see that he was embarrassed.
"Ah, forget it. We are nothing anyway. You can go anywhere you want." You sighed and want to walk away but stopped when you heard Daichi's voice.

"(y/n)! You're here?" your brother and his teammate walked to you and he ruffled your hair. You slapped his hand to make him stop.
"Stop it, Daichi! I am not a kid!" You glared at him.
"Yeah yeah, whatever." He laughed and then his eyes fall to Kageyama who is standing beside you.
"Oh, you're Kageyama, right? Good to have you" You looked at the both of them and sighed. Well, of course, your brother will be delighted to accept Kageyama into their team. You walked to the side of the gym to let them talked for a while.

Then they talked a bit and the orange hair boy whose name is Hinata shouting something and so on. Then he and Kageyama seem to have a fight and they didn't hear what Daichi want to say. You already pitied them with what will happen to them. Daichi is quite scary when he is angry anyway. After making the vice-principal wig flew to Daichi head, they both got tossed out from the gym by Daichi and asked to reflect themselves.

"Are you done now, Daichi?" You walked to your brother after he tossed them out. You're satisfied when Kageyama got tossed out, but at the same time, you pitied him because he still doesn't change a bit.
"Ah, (y/n). I am sorry that you have to see all of this. Let me introduce our setter to you. Suga!" You already guessed that the silver guy is their setter.
"Suga, remember I said that I want you to teach my sister something more about a setter, right? This is my sister, (y/n) and this is Sugawara. He is a third-year student." you bowed to him and he bowed too.

"I am (y/n), Diachi's sister. I hope I can learn more from you" you smiled at him and he smiled back.
"I don't think I have much to teach you, anyway. You got the best setter award before, right?" You nodded.
"That's only within the middle school team, in high school it's all different. You have the experience more than me and Daichi really trust you so, I guess I can trust you too" He chuckled when he heard you.

"Anyway, I have to go to the girl's volleyball team right now. Daichi, Suga-san, see you guys later." You waved your hands before running to the other gym. Little did you know, Kageyama keeps on watching what happened between you and Sugawara.

Kageyama's pov

"She is getting more beautiful than the last time I saw her. I knew that Daichi is her brother but why Suga-san and her smiling to each other?" I only looked at her through the window pane and my heart keeps on hurting to see she is happy with other people.
"I am jealous, right? Serve you, Tobio. You are the one who wants to break up before" I sighed, regretting the decision I make.

After that day, day by day on the recess, I will always see both of them at the gym, practising the volleyball and Sugawara-san is teaching her. I know they are just having the teaching and studying session, but I can't handle the jealousy anymore. I walked closer to them only to hear that Sugawara-san asked her about the guy she likes. That's when I can't hold it back anymore.

"Sugawara-san, may I talked to (y/n) for a while?" she looked shocked but I just took her hand without waiting for Sugawara-san's answer.
"What are you doing? Let me go!"I stopped and turned to face her.
"What are you doing there? Practising or flirting?"
"What are you talking about, Tobio? Even if we are flirting, it's not your problem. You're not my boyfriend anymore. Why do you have to care?" she asked me. I knew what she said is all true. I never have the right to asked about her life but, I don't like it.

"I don't like it. I am jealous of you getting closer to Sugawara-san each day. You can practice being a setter with me rather than Sugawara-san. I didn't say that he is not good but he is too good that I don't like to think about you falling in love with him." I let out all the thought that I kept.
"Tobio, what do you want from me? You are the one who wants to break up and now what? You want us to be together back? You want to say that you still love me?"
"Yes!" I answered her without hesitation makes her frustrated.

"Tobio, you're selfish, you know that right?" she shook her head before running away from me. I wanted to run after her but I stopped when I heard a voice.
"You're bold, Kageyama"
"Daichi-san!" I shocked to see Daichi-san standing behind me.

"I guess you're the one who dumped her before." I shocked and shook my head aggressively.
"No! Yes! No! I am not. I just want us to focus more on the volleyball."
"Then why do you want to get her back? Doesn't that mean you are the one who is not focusing on the volleyball right now?" I looked down when I got slapped with the reality Daichi-san gave to me. Then I heard he laughed.

"Relax Kageyama. it's not like I mad at you or anything. I just want you to be honest with your feelings and about (y/n), I know she still loves you. I saw her watching you when we're practised and she looks troubled by it." I looked at him and saw him smiling.
"I don't mind who she chooses but if she chooses you again, make sure to never let her go again or I will make sure you will have the 'fun' you never have before." I shuddered and nodded non-stop at him. Then he walked away from me letting me thinking this out by myself.

"I have to make her mine back."

Since that day, I tried everything to get her attention, to see her smile and so on. I want her to feel like what we felt before. I apologised to her for being a jerk every day until she doesn't want to hear it anymore. She keeps saying that she already has forgiven me but I know, what I did is not something that can be forgiven easily. Well, who will forgive a jerk who wants to break up but then said that he still loves her and want to be together again?

But, I can see the improvement in our relationship. I can see that she already can talk and smile happily with me and I am good with that right now.

Reader's pov

Kageyama really doesn't know the words of giving up. He keeps on trying until the feeling that you don't want to feel again resurface. You know you're falling in love with him one more time right now but you keep it first. You know that you both want to focus on the tournament and that's why you make sure that you practice hard to be a good setter to your team and be a good match to Kageyama who is already far from you in the world of the setter. You got the position of the team's official setter and you will never let go the opportunity that was given to you.

~The day of the tournament~

You cried. You want to hold back your tears but you can't in front of the captain. Your team lost in the qualification match.
"Yui-senpai and all of the senior, I am sorry. I let you guys down. I am not a good setter to give a win to you. I am really sorry. I should practice harder." You cried harder when you feel they hugged you.
"(y/n), don't blame yourself. It just we're unlucky today. We can get this far only because of you, you know? We never get until the third set and because of you, we can show them that we can be a force to be reckoned too." Yui-senpai said to you.

"But still, they can read my set, that's why we lose. In the end, it's all my fault" you looked down.
"(y/n)" you looked up and see Kageyama standing in front of you. You don't know why all of your senior left you, but now it just you and Kageyama.
"What do you want?" you looked down back, holding your tears from falling. You don't want to show that weak side of you in front of Kageyama. He crouched down to face you and hold your hand.

"(y/n), don't cry. You know I hate it when you cry, right? Don't blame everything on yourself alone. Volleyball is a game that has six players in the court so, everyone has the same responsibility. Just think this is just a bad experience for you." you still looked down but then you feel the force that makes you looked up, facing straight to Kageyama eyes.
"T-Tobio?" you frustrated and blushed.

"We can practice together after this. Our match still doesn't end and we need your support too. Your brother, the team and especially me" he tried to give you a smile but what he gave you is a weird scary smile that makes you laughed.
"You don't have to force a smile if you can't, Tobio. I know how awkward it is for you to smile." you gave him a smile and he took your hand to help you stand.

"Then don't make me. Come on, let's go" you laughed a bit before tightening the grip at your hand and you feel the same from Kageyama's. Both of you looked away from each other, hiding the blushed that appear on both of your faces.
