        2020. A crazy time, this year has been full of so much pain and suffering. I believe everyone shed at least one tear this year. Some of us lost our 'rock'. The person we rely on or go to for help, someone dear to us. A friend, family member...someone. And even if we didn't lose anyone at all or just not anyone close, this year wasn't our favorite...right?

        Despite all the hardships we faced im glad I can say I still have him. He's been there with me through it all. He's never left my side, he's always giving me support at all the right moments when I feel like im going to crumble down into nothing.

        Ushijima Wakatoshi. My soulmate. My best friend. The love of my life. I smile to myself with just the thought of him. Its finally time to put this year to rest and put it behind us. Today is new years eve, normally we would either host a party or go to a friends party. However this year, we can't throw anything too big.

       So we're going to celebrate in our shared home with a few other friends from high school. As we set up small decorations here and there around our house something seems off? "(H/N/N), are you ok? you look a bit pale? Are you sick? We haven't gone out and we both came out negative." You asked him with worry laced into your voice.

        "No, im sorry I just have something on my mind from work. Don't worry yourself." He said in his normal monotone voice but with a small smile as he strokes your cheek gently. "Do you want to talk about it? You know you can talk to me (H/N/N)." you placed your hand over his hand and looked him deep in the eye. "What would I do without you?" he smiles at you once again.

        "(Y/N), I'm fine I promise I'm just overthinking something I shouldn't be." His smile never left his expression so you dropped it hoping he's ok like he insisted. You pull him down to your height and place a sweet peck onto his forehead. "Ok then but promise me that as soon as you need to talk you'll come to me." You smile up at him. "I will." He cups your cheek. You both return to finish decorating.

        Hours later your handful of guests began to arrive and your house was full of life after a very long time. You have a fun time with all your dear friends from high school and catch up with everyone. Seeing as some of them have started their family, one of the Karasuno boys was getting married soon! Nekoma's captain is expecting his first child. "Hard to believe if you ask me." You thought playfully to yourself.

        You find your way to Ushijima seeing as the count down is at the 5 minute mark. "(H/N/N)! Finally I found you! Here I brought you a glass of champagne." You smile brightly up at the gentle giant who's heart you managed to steal many years ago in high school. "Thank you, my love." He leans down to place a kiss on your temple.

        "(H/N/N) you look pale again." You say worried. He looks down at you and puts both hands in his pockets. He takes a deep breath and smiles lovingly at you. "Come, let's watch the count down with our guests. I promised you id let you know if I needed help right?" He takes your hand in his gently. "You're right, let's go." You lean your head on his arm.

       As you arrive with everyone else, the atmosphere...feels different? You shake it off thinking you must be tired or the champagne is getting to you quicker than you thought. As you check the time left before the new year begins, you have 4 minutes and 8 seconds left. Still holding Ushijima's hand you feel him lightly squeeze your hand. You look up at him to read his experience.

        However, before you could read his expression he begins speaking. "(Y/N), thank you. For everything. All these years... all our ups and downs you've seen me at my best and my worst but, you have never left. You stand here before me as kind, beautiful, and as perfect as the day I met you. I don't know what I'd do without you, I don't know how I managed everyday before I met you." He said while never letting go of your hand as if you'd slip away if he let go.

        "(H/N/N)." You look at him with tears threatening to escape. "(Y/N)... You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I can never say 'I love you' enough times to truly show how much I mean it. So before that count down finishes I want to ask you something I've been dying to." He pulls out a small black box from his pocket and still holding your hand he gets down on his knee.

        With 8 seconds left on the count down he speaks, "(Y/N), will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" As soon as he finished, you lunged at him to hug him and cry to him, "Yes! Of course a million times yes!" All your friends and guests clap for you two. He smiles at you and kisses you passionately at the timer strikes 0. They were all in on the surprise

         "I love you (Y/N)." He pulls you into a hug after placing the ring on your finger. "I love you more (H/N/N)." You both share another kiss as your friends begin to cheer once more and then congratulate you both when you finish sharing the moment.

        What A way to end the longest year of our lives. That night after everyone went home you both started getting ready for bed. "(H/N/N)? Is this why you were so pale all day?" You ask curiously while looking at the ring on your finger. He finished drying his hair and says, "Yes, I've been nervous all day thinking of what I would say and if you would accept or decline." He sits down next to you on your shared bed.

        "You big dummy, why would I ever decline? You had nothing to worry about (H/N/N)." you cupped his face. "I just wanted to do it right." He said while becoming shy. "I wanted everything to be perfect for you because that's the least I could do for everything you've done for me." He looks at you and runs his hand through your (H/C) hair.

       "I'll never get sick of saying I love you, and I'll never not help you. I'll always stay by your side." You say as you hold his hand then proceed to lay down. He follows and pulls you in to hold you to his bare chest. "I couldn't have said it better myself." He smiles to himself. As you both slip away giving in to your exhaustion he whispers "Happy New Year my love." You had just managed to hear his words and form a smile before falling asleep.
