You never really liked Valentine's day at least not anymore. You would always get your hopes up cuz you thought people would get you at least a simple rose or small box of chocolate. But no one ever got you anything even when you got practically everyone something. To you it became just a regular day nothing special.

But this year something was different, you can feel something off today. What could it be? Oh well. You head to your locker during your break so you can get your phone charger since its almost dead, you decide to charge it for a while. When you open your locker something falls out of it.

A note? You read the note and it says "this year won't be the same come down to the gym after school where the boys volleyball team practices." 'This year won't be the same'? I wonder what that means and who wrote this? You let out a sigh and walk back to class to go eat your lunch.

"Good afternoon (Y/N)-san." You turn to find out who was talking. "Oh hi Kageyama!" You smile at him. "Please don't be so formal with me were friends after all just call me (Y/N)." He nods slowly. You and Kageyama have been friends for a long time almost since middle school.

He knows about the whole you not liking Valentine's day. He feels bad about it because he never gathered up the courage to give you the gifts he would buy you every year. Even if you were best friends. He has always liked since you where both in middle school. You never called him king, you would practice volleyball with him after everyone in practice left, you would always comfort him when he was feeling down or sick, you were always there by his side.

And eventually realized his feeling for you. You of course feel the same way towards him but hide it well because you feel that he won't return your feelings since he's always so serious and focused on volleyball you think he might not even give you a chance. "Is it ok if I have lunch with you today?" Kageyama asked. "Yea sure come on we can go eat on the roof." You suggest and he nods then walks to the roof with you. You both sit down and eat until he asks you "hey I know you don't like Valentines day but can you help me with something?"

He scratches the back of his neck nervously. "Yea sure what is it?" He seems nervous I wonder why? "Well there's this girl I like and I wanted to get her something for Valentine's day so what in your opinion is the perfect gift?" Your heart shattered. He likes someone. Someone who isn't you.

You try your best to keep a smile and tell him what your ideal gift would be."maybe a nice bouquet of flowers and sweets, something simple like that. But if you buy her flowers I suggest roses or tulips, classic Valentine's day flowers." He quickly thanks you and hugs you tightly then runs off somewhere.

Your happy for him even if it hurts that he likes someone else. His smile is worth it . You smile at all the flashbacks of middle school Kageyama smiling at you. Without noticing you smile as a single tear streaks down your cheek. After lunch you went back to your class and wait for the day to be over so you can get the day over with and go to the gym like the note said.

~~~~~time skip to after school~~~~~

You walk to the gym and see your cousin standing in the entrance with the door closed behind her. When she sees you she knocks on the door once. "Um, Kiyoko why are you out here aren't you supposed to be inside with the team?" You question as you walk up to her. "I just needed some air." She replied in her usual calm tone. You suddenly hear two knocks on the door but from the other side? What's going on?

Kiyoko smiles slightly and opens the door to the gym and walks you in. You suddenly see the team in two lines each holding a white rose. Yachi walks up to you and puts a flower crown on your head. Kiyoko walks you down in between the players as they each hand you the white rose they are holding one at a time. You continue walking down the path until you reach a giant banner.

The entire team gathers around the banner and tear through it to reveal non other than Kageyama with a bouquet of red roses and a blush as bright as the roses he's holding. He walks up to you and hands you the bouquet of roses. You try not to cry tears of joy but your practically overflowing. He smiles and wipes your cheek. "Dont cry, (Y/N) I did this all for you because I know you have earned this long ago."

He starts blushing even more then he was before and takes a deep breath. "We have been friends for a long time and not once have you failed to make me smile. You've always been there for me and now I'm repaying that favor. So, (Y/N) w-will you by m-my g-girlfriend? And let me be t-there for you the same way you were there for me."

Your words got caught in your throat but you managed to nod your head and hug him. He hugs you back and helps you stop crying but you couldn't no matter how hard you tried. You were so overwhelmed by his confession and how out of character he was just to do this for you and only you. He gently pulls your head into his chest and rests his chin on your head. "I love you (Y/N) I always have and I always will." You smile into his chest and say "I love you too Kageyama."

After everything was said and done the surprises still weren't over. Kageyama has been planing this for about a year. The next thing he did was took you out to your favorite restaurant after going to the movie theater. He bought you sweets and let you pick the last place to go.

"Alright one more stop but you get to pick where." You thought but it didn't take you long to say "let's go to your house and have a sleep over like when we were younger!" He chuckled at your excitement and you both began to go to his house. You both arrived and the fact that both of you were so tired from your day you sat on the sofa and started falling asleep. While he was putting all your stuff down and getting some drinks for the both of you he found you soundly asleep on the couch. He smiles at your sleeping form and carries you gently and takes you to his room.

He lays you down on his bed carefully so you don't wake up. Once he changes into his pajamas he quietly slips under the covers of his bed next to you and holds you close to him as he began falling asleep. Before he did he muttered out "Happy Valentines day (Y/N)." And soon fell asleep with you in his arms.
