It was late, about 11 o'clock on a Thursday night. Yamaguchi was lying in his bed, staring out of his windows with his curtains blocking his view as a late night breeze passed through every once and a while.

The stars were bright, illuminating the dark night sky. He smiled subconsciously as his brown eyes darted from one shining star to another until his eyes settled onto one of the neighbours roofs. A human like figure sat there, their legs pinned to their chest and head tilted towards the sky and their hair blowing around them.

Yamaguchi sat up from his bed and went to his window, opening the curtains fully and looking through the open window before economising the figure on the roof, it was you, (First Name).

You felt as though someone was watching you, you discarded your gaze towards the sky and looked down at the houses before seeing the light of a room switch on and the familiar figure of Yamaguchi wave towards you, seeing as though he got your attention.

You waved slightly back before beckoning him to come up to the roof with you, your houses next to each other. He looked at you then to the ground before pondering over what he should do, he didn't want to get into any trouble.

"I won't get in trouble if I don't get caught?" Yamaguchi questioned himself, hopping out of his window and jumping to the ground since it wasn't a far drop. He jogged to your fence and climbed over it before you gestured to the ladder just next to the wall of your house, he hopped onto the ladder and then hurled his body over the roof ledge and laid beside you.

"Such physique!" You teased, covering your mouth as you giggled.

"It's dangerous up here! You should be asleep!" He scolded you, you rolled your eyes and looked back up at the twinkling stars.

"I could say the same for you." He was quiet as he thought over your words, you were right after all. He could've stayed in bed and eventually fell asleep but he felt adventurous, most likely for his sleep deprivation.

"Tonight is nice." He broke the silence, you nodded and tucked strands behind your ear as you both stared up at the sky.

"It sure is." You tired to him with a smile. "The stars remind me of you, y'know, with all your freckles and all?" The pinch server blushed and you laughed nervously.

"You're more talkative without Kei around you." You told him, tilting your head. He looked away from your beautiful face. Tadashi felt a pang in his heart. Of course, you were Tsukishima's girlfriend and Yamaguchi had a crush on you.

But you couldn't be his, you belonged to someone else.

"Yamaguchi?" You poked him, startling him and making the boy clutch the roof tiles. "You spaced out for a minute."

"Gomen." Yamaguchi apologised, looking up at the stars again and watching as a shooting star flew by. "Look!" He grabbed your shoulder and your eyes brightened as you saw the star.

"Quick, make a wish!" You hit his shoulder, making him groan but he complied to your request. Yamaguchi wished for you to always be around him and to be happy, no matter who you were with.

"What did you wish?" You asked, smiling widely.

"(First Name), wishes don't come true if you say it aloud." You giggled.

"Oh well, I'll tell you anyway cause my wish has already come true!" You grasped his hand in both of yours. "My wish was for us to stay good friends for as long as I live!"

Friend zoned, not best friends but good friends.

"Oh-h, I hope we can stay friends forever too!" Yamaguchi lied, his heart gnawed at by the rich emotions of jealousy and sadness. He was on the rooftop of the girl he was in love with, watching the stars and you were in love with someone else; his best friend and all you were totally oblivious.
