Chapter #5 Dwelling In The Past

A/N: This is sort of a filler, but I tried to make it interesting. Enjoy!

*Ritsuna's POV*

After the match had finished, Kiyoko-senpai gave me an official member sign-up sheet- which I gladly filled in. She then opened and entered the storage closet, and came back with a black jacket, which was a little over-sized for me. The sleeves were a little too long, and the hem of the jacket reached to my mid-thigh.

I didn't really mind this though, because long sleeves that I could pull on were ideal, and I wouldn't be as cold.

To my surprise, I was also greeted by all the members in their jackets with an enormous:

"WELCOME TO THE KARASUNO HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL CLUB!"

We all went home after a bit more practice, but I still felt uneasy about the sudden upcoming golden week.

As soon as I arrived home, I flopped onto the light grey sofa, and dove into the pile of cloud-like pillows. A train of thought was all that currently filled my mind.

'This is what I get for missing 3 weeks of school. Golden week just had to be right around the corner too! I don't know if I want to see those two anytime soon- even if they don't remember me.'

It was so much fun hanging out with Oikawa and Iwaizumi, even if it were just for a little while.

*Flashback: 8 years ago*

"Oikawa, you suck!" Iwaizumi shouts, after the brunette tossed the ball way too far from the black-haired 10-year-old for the tenth time in a row.

"Iwa-chan, you're so cruel! I'm trying my best!" Oikawa retorts, stomping his foot and pouting like the bratty 10-year-old he was.

"How can Aya-chan do it then?" He says, pointing to the petite female, who held the large volleyball in her small hands.

"I don't know! Maybe Ri-chan's an alien!"

"Idiot! Aliens don't exist!"

"Do too!"

"Do not!"

"Do too!"

"Do not!"

8-year-old Ritsuna just watched and laughed at her two best friends squabble. They were currently in her back garden playing volleyball. Well- trying to play volleyball. She got dragged into the sport by the two, but she soon fell in love with it after a while.

"Mou, Iwa-kun, Toh-kun! If we keep practicing, we'll get better for sure!" She says, giving the two a sweet, close-eyed smile.

"But, Ri-chan!" Oikawa whines.

"You guys are the ones who got me into volleyball- you should know this!" She says, giggling to herself.

"Yosh! Let's do this!"

*End of Flashback*

The past memory made me smile, as I recalled many more lovely memories of the times we spent together. But then my smile soon fades, and my heart starts to ache.

'But then, before we knew it, all those wonderful times we spent together; all those wonderful memories we made together- all of it would soon be torn apart.'

*Flashback: The Airport*

Both Oikawa and Iwaizumi went with Ritsuna and the rest of the Ayame family to the airport to escort her off.

Today was the day that she would have to leave Japan for England.

Today was the day she would have to leave her best friends.

All three children bawled their eyes out, wiping their snotty noses with their sleeves and clinging onto each other like there was no tomorrow.

"Ri -hic!- chan, i-ikanaide! -hic!-" Oikawa howls, burying his head in her sweater, making the fabric go all wet. Normally, she would push the boy away, complaining he was ruining her shirt, but right now she couldn't care less; she was too busy making their shirts wet too.

"I -hic!- won't! I -hic!- p-promise!" She cries.

"W-we -hic!- won't for -hic!- get you!" Iwaizumi sobbed, squeezing her tight.

After they had calmed down enough to stop the hiccuping, it was time for her to leave.

"Don't be sad, Iwa-kun, Toh-kun! We can send letters to each other, and mum says we won't stay there permanently, so wait for me! When I get back, we'll always, always be together, okay? So, cheer up and don't cry! And keep practicing volleyball. Remember the promise we made? We promised that we'd become the best players in the nation. Pinky promises are a big deal, so don't you dare break it!"

She calls out to them, before giving them a final wide, teeth-showing grin.

*End of Flashback*

Without even noticing, a single, warm tear slowly rolled down my cheek, which was soon followed by a stream more.

I had almost forgotten how painful it was to know that my 'best friends' didn't remember me.

"W-we -hic!- won't for -hic!- get you!"

I clutch my chest and the ends of my mouth tug into a bitter smile.

'You liars.'

A/N: Ri-chan... T-T Sorry it's a bit shorter than the other chapters; it was kind of a filler.
