[Personality] Tanjiro doesn't like to stick out much and rather blend in the crowd. He isn't much of a talker but when he does talk, it's in very short sentences and blunt. Tanjiro doesn't show barely any emotion and has a big issue with being able to express himself; he always had that problem through out childhood too. The male tends to day dream especially in class but he doesn't have problems with grades unlike some people when they daydream too much. Tanjiro tends to sleep at lunch or whenever he gets a chance due to headaches. He is sensitive to sound so pretty much anything too loud triggers a headache or gets him a little pissed. Despite all this, he isn't a bad person but very distant with individuals. Tanjiro connects more with animals than humans which is why he has a pet dwarf lion head in his room. Even if he doesn't show it, he takes his relationships seriously and wishes only the best of people he feels a connection with. Him and his brother get into arguments a lot but it and it does hurt him but they aren't mad at each other for too long. They both just are stubborn.

[Background] Tanjiro was born into a couple who was hoping for a girl. When they saw he was a boy, they still loved him but things started changing due to his lack of speaking and not much emotion when he was 4 years old. He never got to go to a doctor since the family wasn't financially capable of going to therapy or anything that expensive. His father, Koshi Fujioka, had a hard job in construction that didn't pay a lot. He did his best but the stress continued to get to him which got him into drinking. Koshi loved his family but he wasn't in the right mind when drinking. He would yell and throw things around the house. Constant fights became a common occurrence in the household and sometimes Tanjiro would get yelled at as well. His father never hit him and would always apologize immediately but it only added to the suffering. His mother did her best for Tanjiro, music being their escape and a way to connect. During his time at school, he was bullied for being poor and just the way he acted. The children used sharp objects to poke him with and one kid stole needles from the nurses office, chasing the boy with them. Of course they were caught but Tanjiro developed a fear of needles and just sharp objects. Before entering highschool, Tanjiro's mother died abruptly due to a heart attack. It was a big hit for Tanjiro and that's when things really started to change. His father decided it was best to put Tanjiro up for adoption since he would never be able to be the father he needed to be. It wasn't long before he was adopted by the Kageyama family at the age of 8. *idk if my math is right but this has spoilers continuing on if you haven't read the manga* At first, Tanjiro was super shy and closed off, resorting in hiding in the closet in his room with his mother's blanket she crocheted for him when he was a baby for most of the time. Kageyama's grandpa was the one to get him out of his shell after some time sitting outside the closet and just talking about volleyball and how Kageyama will be a good brother and friend. It took a while but he soon opened up to the family and now feels comfortable even if he still doesn't say much.
