"Hey, Y/n," A tall lanky figure leaned back in his seat, resting his elbow across all of my papers as the professor continued to scribble on the board, his back to the class. "What's on the schedule today?"
"Kuroo, get off of my papers, you're going to wrinkle them!" I hissed back, trying to salvage my chemistry notes before they became a crumpled mess. "It's fine, just tell me," Kuroo grinned, leaning back even farther to add more pressure onto my papers. I took a quick glance at our teacher; he hadn't noticed a thing yet. "I hope you fall out of your stupid chair," Sticking my tongue out at him, I pushed on his head, trying to get him off of my stuff.
It was futile, of course. Kuroo had pressed his leg against the desk so I wouldn't be able to force him to move back. "Damn volleyball thighs..." I cursed his powerful leg muscles in my mind as my struggle continued. "C'mon, I'll get off if you just tell me what's on the agenda for practice,"
"We both know that you're lying!"
"Haha, yeah I am~"
My patience was growing dangerously thin. This was pretty much a daily occurrence in my life and while lots of girls would've loved to be in my position, it's only fun from a distance. As Nekoma's manager, I had to deal with Kuroo's smug attitude and teasing behavior, not only during school, but for hours afterwards. Though, it did help that he was incredibly attractive, even if I would never tell him that I thought so.
I finally just tried jerking my work out from under him; Kuroo smirked, adding more weight to his elbow at the last second and I watched in horror as two weeks of notes ripped in my hands. "KUROO!!!" I stood up and screamed, my face flushed with anger. The whole class, including our normally oblivious professor, turned to look at me with wide eyes.
Kuroo had calmly slipped back into a normal seating position just before everyone had looked, so now I looked like the disruptive one when it was him who had just caused my notes to tear. "L/n-san, please step out into the hallway," My professor addressed me coldly as my cheeks burned. I glared at him one last time before I left the class in shame.
*Timeskip brought to you by Kuroo's pervy smirk*
During practice, I ignored the middle blocker in every way possible. He had done some annoying things, but this was by far the worst. Now, not only did I have no idea what today's lesson was on, but my notes from the past two weeks were unsalvageable. Not to mention, we had a test coming up too.
My eyes followed the team as they ran spiking drills while Yaku and Shibiyama tried to receive them. "Nice kill!" Kuroo shouted as Yamamoto hit his shot. "Nice kill..." Kenma mumbled, clearly not too hyped about the whole thing. "Nice kill!!!" I shouted from the sidelines with a wide smile; the team looked at me in surprise. This was the first thing that I had said during all of practice; before now, I had just been watching with a stony glare.
Yamamoto blushed a little, grinning like an idiot at me. "Ah! Thank you, Y/n-chan!" I beamed back, noticing Kuroo's skeptical glance. He knew why I was mad and now he was confused on why I had flipped the switch so suddenly. I smirked a little as Lev came up next; he would find out soon enough. "Nice kill, Lev!"
Coach Nekomata chuckled as I cheered for the boys, glancing at me with a raised brow. "I didn't take you to be the petty type, L/n-san." I grinned back, my eyes gleaming. "Well I don't think that I'm being petty at all. I call it... Karma!" Coach burst out laughing again while I turned my attention back to the team. Kuroo ran up and hit his spike. A straight, and a good one. It hugged the line as Yaku dove to at least get a hand on it, but the ball evaded the libero by mere centimetres.
Kuroo glanced at me, trying not to be obvious, but failing miserably. I pretended not to notice, walking over to pick up some of the loose balls and throw them back into the bins. "Nice kill, dude!" Yamamoto smacked Kuroo's back, snapping him out of his trance. "Oh, uh, thanks! It was pretty good, wasn't it Y/n?" He called me out by name, making my head pop up as I held the balls. "Huh? Oh, I guess I wasn't paying attention,"
"You've got to be kidding me..." Kuroo sighed, his shoulders slumping forward a bit as Inuoka ran up and hit his shot. "Ah, nice kill!" I gave him a dazzling smile as I dumped the balls into the large cloth bin. Kuroo scowled a bit, falling right into my trap; I found it quite amusing that normally cool captain was getting ruffled over my antics.
Practice ended and as we started clean up, of course I continued my little game. "Yaku!" I ran up the libero with a towel and cold water bottle, handing both to him. "You had it especially tough today, so here! Be sure to rest a lot when you get home, okay?" He seemed a little surprised at first, but quickly relaxed with a grin, accepting my outstretched items. "Thanks Y/n-chan. I'll be sure to do just that," Yaku smirked at someone behind us, who I hoped was Kuroo. I didn't turn around to check, though, and merely ran off to continue help with clean up.
I had walked to the back, throwing the practice jerseys into the washing machine. As I shut the machine closed with my hip, I felt a presence behind me; I could guess who it was without looking. "Y/n, why are you doing this?" Slowly turning around, I was met with Kuroo's peeved expression which was so satisfying. "Doing what?" I put a hand to my chest, batting my eyelashes a little.
Kuroo huffed, not used to being on the receiving end of this kind of teasing behavior. "You know! Like... Ugh, don't play innocent!" I merely shrugged and pushed past him, keeping up my act; I wasn't over what he had done yet.
*Timeskip brought to you by the fact that I needed another one*
I walked into my class, feeling on top of the world; I had completely shut Kuroo down yesterday and I was prepared to do it again. However, when I got to my seat, there were two things that I noticed. The first was a stack of beautifully done chemistry notes, complete with color coordinated penmanship and neatly drawn models. The second was Kuroo, who was currently asleep at his desk with his head buried in a book. The sight made me snicker softly as I tapped his shoulder. "Hey, wakey-wakey captian~"
The middle blocker lethargically raised his head, letting out a big yawn before turning toward me. There were heavy dark circles underneath his eyes and his bed head was even worse that usual. The sight made me flinch at first; he looked... A little rough. Still, he had his classic smirk on his lips when we made eye contact. "What? Not ignoring me anymore?"
I stiffened indignantly, crossing my arms and puffing out my cheeks. "Want me to start again?"
"No, that's okay. I like this a lot more~" His words made me blush, but only slightly. I huffed again, picking up the papers and holding them up to him. "Look, I just wanna know if you did this. I recognize that handwriting." Kuroo shrugged playfully, refusing to look me in the eye. "Maybe~" When he caught a glimpse of my exasperated expression, he chuckled a bit and nodded sheepishly. "Okay, yeah I did." He rubbed the back of his neck, a bit of regret shown in how he furrowed his brows. "I had to make it up to you, after all... There was no way I was just going to let you praise the others like that. It was horrible..."
I couldn't help but feel my heart soften up like warm butter; how could I stay mad at this lovable nerdy dork? "Oh Kuroo," I gently tapped him on the head with the notes, smiling sweetly. "You're softer than you let on~"
Kuroo blushed, covering his mouth with his fist as he averted his eyes rather shyly. "For some reason, that didn't sound like a compliment..."
"Oh, then you must be rubbing off on me," I teased, setting the papers down on my desk and walking over to stand in front of him. Leaning forward, I pushed up his messy bangs and planted a sweet kiss on his forehead. "Next time don't lose sleep over me, 'kay? You look horrible right now~" Kuroo's ears burned red as he looked up at me for once, his usual cocky aura rather weak at the moment. "Gee thanks, Y/n. What a thing for my girlfriend to tell me!"
I laughed cheerfully, sitting back down and resting my chin on my hands. "Oh wait now, who said that we were a couple now?" Kuroo rolled his eyes at my words, planting a confident thumb against his chest. "Me! And that's that. I'm not sharing you anymore."
