Sakusa Part 2

Plot: A continuation of "Sakusa". A cockroach decides to join you and Sakusa and things take a wild turn.

"I'm done my homework," you stuttered, collecting your worksheet and putting it in your bag. When you reached for your pencil case, you noticed that Sakusa had unclipped the travel-sized bottle of hand sanitizer off the side and was holding it.

Your face burned red as you sat there watching him, staring at the bottle in his hands. The sanitizer wasn't the problem, plenty of people carried it, the problem was that this brand was often criticized for having a 'girly' smell. It was targeted for small children.

"The smell of ethanol makes my head dizzy" you confessed. "Noio is the only one that masks their sanitizers with fruity scents."

"I don't mind." He clicked the cap open and squeezed a coin's size onto his palm. The mixed berry fragrance hit your nose. "Hey, want to watch a movie?"

You blinked. "Sure."

While you browsed through the movie selection, he went to the kitchen to get some snacks. You remembered the novel he was reading and chose a movie about Extra-terrestrial beings attacking earth. He got berry-fruit juice boxes with biscuits.

You sat on opposite ends of the same sofa and played the movie. It had an interesting plot and when you glanced over you saw that Sakusa was wide-eyed, reacting to the violence on the screen.

You reached to the table for the juice but snatched your hand back, jumping onto the sofa.

"Kill it."

He looked at what you were staring at. His face scrunched up as though he were in pain and he also jumped onto the sofa. "You kill it."

"Me? No way."

"I'm not going to kill it."

"It's going to run away if we don't kill it."

A few more seconds passed. The golf-ball sized cockroach scurried across the table and stopped. You realized that neither one of you was going to kill it.

"We have to burn it. The table and the roach."

Sakusa nodded in agreement. Gingerly, he held out his hand to you and as you watched him with furrowed brows, a light blush dusted his cheeks.

"You phone."

"Oh." You reached for your phone sitting on the armrest and gave it to him. He dialled a phone number then put it on speaker.

"Hello?"

"Mom," he cleared his throat, "you have to come home. Now."

"What is it? Is everything okay? Oh no, Kiyoomi you didn't try disinfecting Y/N, did you? Is she having an allergic reaction?"

"No," he grumbled, his face turning a darker shade of red, "you have to come and kill it."

"It?"

"A roach." His mother didn't speak from the other end and a second later, you heard the dial tone. "She hung up on me. We're going to die."

"Don't be so dramatic. Let's put a cup or something over it so it can't move. Your mom can kill it when she comes back."

"Good idea," he gave you a light push and you nearly stumbled off the sofa. "You get the cup. I'll watch it."

Slowly, you set your feet on the floor and then walked to the kitchen. A glass cup was sitting on the dish rack air drying so you grabbed it and walked back into the living room.

"Alright I got the cup, now we just," you paused, Sakusa's face had gone pale and he seemed to be having trouble breathing. "Wait, what's wrong?"

"It ran," he mumbled. You followed his gaze to the table where the roach should have been. A shiver ran down your spine, knowing that if it wasn't on the table then it was definitely on the floor. You jumped onto the safety of the sofa and grabbed Sakusa's arm to steady yourself.

"You had one job, one!'

He stammered out an incoherent response.

"We need to leave."

You didn't even realize that you were hugging his arm. Your heart hammered against your chest as you pulled yourself off of him and readied yourself to climb off the sofa. However, Sakusa clasped his hand around yours and tugged you back into his side.

"You'll die," he stuttered, "it's still here. Somewhere."

You tried to ignore his warm touch on your skin. "What are we supposed to do? We can't stay up here forever."

"I have an idea," he frowned, "its not a good idea but its an idea. Can I see your phone again?"

This time when he called the person, he chose to facetime them. You peeped over and noticed a familiar face. It was Komori Motoya, he was in your class last year.

"Hey Sakusa, did you change your number? I didn't recognize it at all."

"No, I'm borrowing it."

"Oh? Whose phone are you using? And why is your face all twisted? Wait" As Sakusa tried to hide his face from his cousin he turned the camera towards you. Komori's eyes widened.

"Whoa! Hey Y/N! What are you doing with Sakusa?"

Before you could stutter a hello, Sakusa turned the camera off so Komori couldn't see you two anymore.

"We're going to die," Sakusa told him.

"That's very ominous Sakusa," you could hear him grinning, "and what makes you so sure you're about to die?"

"A roach."

"A roach?"

"It was here and then it disappeared."

"Are you sure you're not imagining things again? And turn on the camera, I don't want to stare at a blank screen."

He grumbled under his breath and turned on the camera again. Komori's smiling face came into view.

"I'm not imagining it."

"Well, do you know where its nest is?"

You both stared at each other with matching frowns. "Nest?"

"Yeah, nest," Komori nodded, "there's never just one roach. There's a nest with at least a dozen. I bet if you look around the corners you'll find it's skin that its shed, little black droppings, or maybe its heads."

Sakusa cut him off. "That's not possible. I clean the house every day. I even get the small corners and underneath the furniture with disinfectant."

"Maybe you missed a spot."

"Not possible."

"Well, where else did the roach come from? Oh, fun fact Y/N, did you know roaches can live without their heads? It's pretty weird but"

He ended the call on him.

Sakusa handed you back your phone and then dropped onto the sofa. He hugged his knees close to his chest and judging by the colour of his face, you could he was nauseous.

"Hey, it's fine," you tried to console him. You knelt and tapped his shoulder. His dark eyes looked at you, hooded lids giving him a dream-like expression.

"We're going to die. We're going to die and this is my fault."

"How is this your fault?"

"Because I missed a spot when I was cleaning."

You couldn't help but laugh. "If you say you cleaned the entire house-"

"Twice."

"Right," you nodded, "if you say you cleaned the house twice every day, then maybe it's just one roach that got in from outside."

"So," his eyes widened, "this is your fault."

"How?"

"You must have brought it in with you today."

You facepalmed. Sakusa pushed you away.

He jumped to his feet and ran towards the cabinet at the side of the room. You watched as he put on plastic gloves and snapped a face mask across his mouth. He then grabbed a white spray bottle and a brush.

"My mom makes fun of me but I should have trusted my gut. I should have disinfected you the second you walked in. Oh God, I can't believe I let you touch me! This is my fault, but it's not too late. Now," he walked closer, his face darkening, "hold still."

That was the last thing you were going to do.

As he aimed the spray bottle at you, you leaped over the sofa and dodged the chemical cleaner.

"Sakusa stop! I didn't bring the roach!"

"Not intentionally but that doesn't change the fact of the matter. Hold still, it'll only take ten minutes."

You crawled between his legs and then ran towards the kitchen. You needed a weapon to hold him off until he came back to his senses. A large frying pan sat on the dish rack and you grabbed it, holding it in front of you.

"Put that down, Y/N" he ordered, "I can't use this disinfectant on metal."

"You can't use it on me either!"

He tried to yank it out of your grip but you shook him off and ran around the table. For a while, you two played chase. He had way more stamina than you did, so as your legs wobbled and you nearly tripped over yourself, he was learning your movements and getting closer.

"I have you now," he grinned, cornering you between the wall and the fridge.

Your heart was hammering in your chest, your mouth was dry. You had seen a side to Sakusa today that no one would believe existed, and that terrified you. You came to one conclusion, no matter how attractive he was, he was still mildly insane.

He turned the nozzle on the bottle, directing it at you, and held raised the brush. You turned your head and felt your heart drop in your stomach.

Before he had a chance to carry out his plan, you shrieked and tackled him.

"Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew," he groaned, whacking you over the head with the brush.

"The roach!" you screamed, burying your face into his chest, "Sakusa it's right there! It was an inch away from my face!"

He stopped abusing you and fumbled with the bottle, spraying a heavy dose into your face. "With the power of the Mold, Dust, and Bacteria Disinfectant Sanitizer, I command you to be cleaned."

You scrunched your face, shutting your eyes tightly. He stopped trying to shake you off. Now that you were somewhat clean enough to be near him, he stared at your face. Another light blush dusted his cheeks when he saw the way you scrunched your nose and pouted your lips.

He ignored the hammering in his chest and poked you with the brush.

"We have to kill it. If we don't, it'll run away again."

You blinked your eyes open and stepped away from him. You pushed your sleeves up to your elbows and with a look of determination, nodded your head.

"Do you have a container?"

He handed you a large plastic container and you trapped the roach. Ever so carefully, you dragged the container down the wall, towards the floor, and then set the frying pan on it. "There," you nodded, "now, it won't go anywhere and your mom and get rid of it when she comes home."

He turned around and glared at the room. "I have to disinfect everything."

"I'll help," you offered. Sakusa gave you a face mask and plastic gloves as well. Then, the two of you began to clean every inch of the house.

When he wasn't looking, you would stare at him and smirk at his angry expression. You found it adorable the way his brows would furrow as he repeatedly wiped the same spot over.

When you weren't looking, he would stare at you and sigh. He wondered if you were weirded out by him. He hoped not, because he wanted to hang out with you again.

Next time, there would be no roach.
