Sakusa Part 1
Plot: You are staying over at Sakusa's home while both your parents are out
The boy who lived next door was an enigma.
He rarely left his house and when he did, he wore a health mask covering the lower half of his face. His eyes were dark, heavy lidded and unimpressed.
Your mother and his mother were good friends from College, and although you two were the same age, you hadn't said two words to him.
It wasn't that you were shy, it was just that he was intimidating.
"It's just for a couple hours," your mother reminded you. She stood by the mirror and applied the ruby red lipstick to her lips. "Mrs. Sakusa and I will be back around 9pm."
"I still don't know why I can't stay home," you huffed.
"I still don't know why you ignore Kiyoomi. He's a good boy."
"He's weird."
"He's introverted. Much like you." She ruffled your hair and walked over to wear her shoes. "Come on."
You grabbed your backpack from the sofa and followed her. She locked the door and you two walked down the steps next door to the Sakusa residence.
"Welcome!" Mrs. Sakusa beamed as she opened the door. "Please, come in."
You muttered a hello and walked in. This was the first time you had entered their house and although the layout was similar to your own, you were awestruck with how clean and organized everything was.
The smell of lavender and vanilla oils enveloped you.
"Kiyoomi tells me that you are in his class." His mother made small talk as she reached for her coat. "I know you two have homework but try to have some fun too. Oh, where is that boy of mine- Kiyoomi?"
He peaked from around the corner. His brows were furrowed, curled bangs falling over his face.
"Come and say hello."
His frown deepened as he glanced at you. "Hello."
Your mother and his mother giggled as they began to walk outside. It was like they were purposefully torturing you, leaving you with a classmate you had never talked to before. Now that you thought about it, Sakusa didn't talk to anyone in school either.
The door locked with a click and you knew that there was no escape. For the next two or three hours, you and Sakusa were enclosed in the same living space.
You kicked off your shoes and cautiously walked away from him and towards the living room. It was similar to yours, spacious and with a high ceiling. Two crème coloured sofas were pushed to the side, a flat screen television hung on the opposite side of the wall.
There was a low leveled table in the middle of the room so you chose to sit on the floor near it and begin your homework. Just as you had placed your worksheets on the table and clicked your pen, you saw his shadow over you.
You looked up at him, his expression remained impassive.
"It's clean. The floor."
A shiver went down your spine at the sound of his deep voice. You hesitated. "Have you completed the homework questions?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. Well, I'm still working on them." You tried your best to ignore him and focus on the questions. "Do you mind sitting down? I can't concentrate with you looming over me like this?"
"I'm not looming." He walked around the table and sat opposite of you.
He had a book with him, you recognized it as one about an apocalyptic world. He flipped to the middle and then began to read. You diverted your own attention to your homework. The silence was a little awkward at first, but soon the sounds of pages flipping and pen scratching on paper put you at ease.
You completed the final question and glanced up at the clock. Only a half hour had passed.
You snuck a glance at Sakusa and felt like a deer in headlights when you saw that he was staring at you.
Neither of you spoke, neither of you looked away.
You wondered how long he was staring at your for. You wondered what he was thinking. A blush tinted your cheeks at the sudden realization that he was actually handsome, and you blinked.
The corners of his lips lifted.
